It is important to remember these units are mechanically rebuilt by Cardone, but are not restored cosmetically. The casings are original. These are sold as a rebuilt powermaster brakes unit, not restored. Because these units are now over 30 years old, some of the core units need to have the motor rebuilt, which adds to the cost.
When purchasing this part you may also want to purchase #7218 Stainless Braided Brake Hoses as these will improve your stopping ability.
NOTE - Rebuilding costs have risen because many of these units now require the motor to be rebuilt because it's burned out.
RETURNING YOUR POWERMASTER CORE - IMPORTANT - The complete powermaster unit, including the brake bowl, must be packaged securely in a sturdy box. 1 - Release the pressure in the system before removing the unit from the car. 2 - Place the complete unit in 2 trash bags in case the unit leaks in transit. 3 - In a separate envelope, include a copy of your original receipt, your full name, address and phone number, and a note requesting your core charge refund. This information MUST be in the box, outside of the plastic and not coated in brake fluid. 4 - Pack in the box with newspaper or packing material so the unit is secure during shipping. Once we receive your complete acceptable core, we will refund the core charge you paid.
NOTE - When you return a powermaster brake unit core, be sure the unit is depressurized and free of fluid, wrap the unit carefully and package well.
NOTE - When you send in the core, be sure to include your name, address and phone number.
NOTE - This is the information that comes with the directions on the unit. MANUFACTURER'S VOID WARRANTY INFORMATION "If this vehicle is equipped with a CAST IRON combination valve, replace with a BRASS combination valve. Failure to install brass valve will VOID WARRANTY."
NOTE FROM KIRBAN PERFORMANCE - Problems can exist if it has a cast iron valve, due to rust and possible leaks. If you do NOT have the brass combination valve (also known as the brake proportioning valve), we sell them. Part #7189 - 1982-1987 Regal V6 - Reproduction Brake Proportioning Valve. We also recommend another upgrade - replace the factory rubber brake hoses that go from the metal lines to each front brake caliper and the one connecting rubber brake hose that runs between the lines over the top of the rear housing. We sell a kit comprised of these three lines in stainless steel - Part #7218 - 1979-1987 Regal - Stainless Braided Brake Hoses (3) Kit. This eliminates the swelling which can occur on the stock rubber hoses when you apply the brakes.
