A very long time for me to keep a vehicle! It has always been garaged during that time and based on how nice the original paint is the truck was probably garaged most of its life. Actual miles is 196,000. I drove it approximately 50,000 miles but only about 300 miles last year. It is a 5-speed manual shift 4 cylinder. I restored it over the years. I redid most of the interior. The interior is absolutely mint. One trick was I replaced the driver's seat with a passenger matching seat so it is mint. I was even able to locate a new correct Ford steering wheel. The radio is the later Ford factory am/fm CD player. I upgraded the tires and wheels to the 15 inch Ford alloy wheels. Truck originally had 14 inch. Truck has a long bed. New muffler, new tires, new brakes and some of the brake lines I had replaced over the years. The AC needs a charge, but once done it stays good for several years. Battery is also fairly new. The body is very good, zero rust. The truck has new rear shackles which is a common rust problem . The floors and frame are solid. The truck does not drip any oil! A good dependable small truck that looks extremely nice for its age and miles. Older Ford Rangers in this condition are extremely hard to find. The asking price is $4495. It has a few minor dents but nothing that hurts its overall appearance. . You would be very hard pressed to find a better example of a 1996 Ford Ranger XLT than this one is. All the manuals in the glove box. Truck has a full gauge package with the tachometer. A center console with armrest and coin holder. New headliner. No smells, no smoke odors. Truck has hand crank windows, remember them? I had to explain those handles to my granddaughter! MAZDA CX9 2010 MODEL FOR SALE - We just got this SUV last week by having the top bid through the dealership I work with. Body is very close to mint. Dark gray with black leather interior. A one owner that has had exceptional care. All the manuals. Black leather interior 3 row leather seating. The CX9 is the largest SUV from Mazda I believe. Mazda like Toyota and Honda build some impressive vehicles with quality materials. They are also built to last 200,000 miles and beyond with good care. This SUV has 220,000 miles on it. The driver's seat is not even ripped! The interior is close to mint. Never hit. It is dry underneath and nothing appears to leak at all! The asking price is $6695. PHOTO 3 - I show 4 views of this CX9 in our pole building. I just detailed it. It shows it has had excellent care over the years. The body has zero dents in it and the paint shines showing it must have been garaged. No corrosion is evident on the alloy wheels either. SUV usually has traces of dog hair, or candy wrappers from kids, or spilled coffee staines. This SUV had none of those indications at all. I did recover over $2 in change though! LATEST PARTS AVAILABLE THIS WEEK - PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows a cracked original horn ring and a new factory foam center with horn contact. The top right photo shows what I believe is all 7 parts and a new gray shifter handle for the the shifter. All NOS GM. The bottom left photo shows a pair of GM NOs front grill springs. GNX #149 SELLS FOR $231,000 AT HERSHEY AUCTION - This GNX reportedly only had 2,045 miles on it. I find it interesting that the selling price matches the 231 cubic inch of the engine. The seller had to be quite pleased. Course the really big seller and actually the largest amount ever paid for a car in the last 67 years was a 1955 MB Gullwing 1 of just 2 that sat in the MB museum. Although I do not know the exact details, the hefty price tag was a cool $143 million dollars. I would think that the auction house made a sizable commission on that sale! Reminds me of years ago I dealt with a junkyard when I was in the towing business towing abandoned cars from apartment complexes. I had a great deal with the owner of this junk yard, maybe because I drove his daughter to summer school a few years earlier. (I had to go to summer school in 11th grade to pass into 12th grade.) He told me a few years earlier he had a MB coupe, but his wife hated it because the doors opened upward. Yep he owned a Gullwing 1955 MB. He eventually sold it to appease his wife. True story. SEEKING OUT NOS GM PARTS AND GOOD USED TURBO REGAL PARTS - It is getting increasingly more difficult to find NOS GM parts and good used parts. When it comes to used parts I am very picky at what I buy as I have no desire to grow old with the parts and I know what people expect with parts coming from me. Adding to the problem is sellers realize I am buying the items for resale. But, in many cases I buy it all which saves the seller a lot of time. Over the years I have built up a good reputation in the collector car market specifically for the Pontiac GTO and then jumping over to the Turbo Regals. I am a nominee through 2024 for the Pontiac Hall of Fame. I got a good shot of getting in so I am told. I have spoken at several seminars over the years. I was recently contacted by a local street rod club to speak at their January meeting. I think most readers would agree with me that we are living in the right times as indications are that the gas powered vehicles will be slowly disappearing and a good segment of today's youth are not into collector cars. I could be wrong, but at my age (75) it doesn't matter if I am right or wrong. I am sure California will lead the charge like they did with emissions and will be banning gas powered lawn mowers and gas powered vehicles just a matter of when. They never show how big the battery or batteries are in these electric cars. I read that the Hummer EV weighs in at 9,000 lbs and the battery pack alone weighs what a Miata sports car weighs!. You think mechanic prices are high now, wait til you get hit with the labor rate alone to replace the battery in some of these electric vehicles. AutoZone won’t be offering battery replacement for free while you wait! It is going to require a forklift to remove and reinstall a new battery! Not to mention the 15 grand or better price tag for the actual battery. Two other issues concerning electric vehicles one that has become evident already is if one catches on fire it is very difficult to extinguish. What has yet to be determined is if the typical battery weighs 2,000 lbs or more what happens when you get hit. A solid mass this heavy gives cause for some concern let alone the possibility of a fire starting! I think your survival rate in a severe accident is not as good with those two aspects to consider.
