Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 11-23-2011
HERE IS SOMETHING YOU DO NOT SEE EVERY DAY -
We have shown the Goodyear Tire ashtray in an earlier Inner Circle. We have also sold several ashtrays over the years.
What is the connection with the Turbo Buick? The GNX used the GOODYEAR EAGLE VR50 series tire. This ashtray duplicates that Goodyear Eagle VR50 tire and has a glass ashtray in the center.
PHOTO 1 - The photo on the right shows the common Goodyear Eagle VR50 tire with the Goodyear blue logo glass ashtray. The one on the left I recently acquired. Not only does this other one have the Goodyear logo and the word "EAGLE" in English, but under this it has what appears to be 4 lines in 4 different languages. I had never seen one of these until I purchased this about a week ago.
It's always neat to discover something new that relates to these cars that I never knew existed.
John Follweiler recently sold me 4 Buick plastic chrome tri-shield logo emblems that are the perfect size for the Kirban-style GNX wheels we used to sell. They are red white and blue with a chrome surrounding. (I have a set of our wheels on our personal Turbo-T). The medallion measures 1-3/4 inches across. Until he showed me these tri-shield emblems, I had never seen them before. My guess is they probably came out in the mid-to-late-1990s and was used somewhere on the inside of one of the Buick models. John does not know where these were used or what year. The part is no longer available from GM.
PHOTO 2 - The top photo shows 3 items. The left is a factory GM parts bag with the Part #10130299. The center shows this plastic emblem out of the bag. The right photo shows a Kirban-style center cap with this emblem affixed to it. The lower photo shows the new center cap on one of the wheels on our car. Since it is not a flat paper decal, it gives the overall wheel a more distinctive look. I also like the fact I now have something that is very rare as a medallion on the center caps. According to John, you can sometimes find these on ebay, but they usually do not have the adhesive on the back.
Speaking of unusual, and rare, I recently removed the upgraded AC Delco am/fm CD player out of our Turbo-T and installed the original version of the factory am push button radio. Besides the radio delete plate this push button am radio is probably just as rare to see in a Turbo Regal today. In 1987 Buick offered 5 different radios in the Turbo Regal.
PHOTO 3 - Shows the Delco am push-button radio in our Turbo-T. Notice it has the flat black face. The trunk ID code for the am radio is "U63," and it was a standard feature. What is unusual is, for the 1984 Regals, that radio had an additional cost of $112! In 1985, 1986, and 1987, it was a standard feature at no additional cost! The code "U63" remained the same for those years.
In our rare parts offering, we have listed parts from ATR, which was a major Turbo Regal parts supplier back in the mid-1980s. ATR was originally located in California and then was sold and moved to South Carolina.
PHOTO 4 - Here is a photo of Applied Technologies and Research Inc. (ATR) 2002 catalog. This catalog ran 110 pages and was probably one of the last ones they did before they went out of business. By the year 2002, they had expanded into over 15 different car and truck models. The other photos show 3 pages from ATR's Grand National section.

We should have a winner to announce next week. We actually have a winner and he is just waiting for the person to verify where this emblem was used originally and even if it was an original Buick part or an aftermarket part.

What had those under-the-hood braces wrapped in 3M Scotchprint black carbon fiber. They really look good, especially since they are so visible under the hood. The price is $39.95 for the kit, which includes the pair plus all new hardware.

"BLACK CARBON FIBER" UNDER-THE-HOOD BRACE KIT
We now carry these popular under-the-hood braces wrapped in black carbon fiber vinyl Braces are made from steel tubing, approximately 3/4" in diameter. They measure about 16" long and bolt to existing holes already on the radiator support. All the hardware is stainless steel. You do need to drill two small holes in the side of your inner fender. Each kit comes with easy-to-follow directions and all the hardware.
These braces help strengthen and support the front end. The idea is nothing new, as almost every G-body GM car and many Monte Carlo SS's have similar under-the-hood braces. The ends of each brace are tapered for a nice positive kit.
Using a unique process, the outer shell of each brace is vinyl wrapped using 3M™ Scotchprint® Wrap Film Series 1080 Black Carbon Fiber. The material is durable and not affected by heat. The final result is a gorgeous black carbon fiber look to enhance the engine compartment.

GRAY PALLEX SEAT MATERIAL UPDATE -
Currently we have less than half of our roll left, as several customers have bought 2 and 3 sections of it to do several cars. So, if you have a 1985-1987 Grand National, you may want to get a sample of this material to see if it's something you want to have tucked away. Most of the pallex material you find today from companies sells for over $75 to $95 a yard.
We do NOT have the black pallex material. In many cases, the original black material should be good enough to simply re-use and install the new gray pallex material. The black is a lot easier to match whereas the gray is something that can vary. Keep in mind, before we sell you any material, please email me your name and address so I can send you a sample. That way, you know the exact shade of gray material you would receive - [email protected]
