Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 11-12-2014 1986-1987 BUICK TURBO REGAL - REPRODUCTION O-RINGS (35) KIT PHOTO 1 - Shows the new 35 O-ring kit that Richard Clark has made possible. He actually had to have some of the O-rings reproduced. No other kit exists that covers all the important O-rings that you would use in your 1986-1987 Turbo Regal. See our Christmas Specials part #7629. A great value and they are in stock for immediate delivery. Our photo shows the two options for his O-rings Kits, #7633 and #7634. VARGO DRAGWAY - The Vargo Dragway is probably not very well known today among racers, since it only operated from 1960 through 1969. This dragstrip is only about 10 minutes from where we now live. It was built by Jake Vargo on his farmland. Originally in the late 1950s it was a 1/8-mile track. It was later expanded to a 1/4-mile dragstrip. At the time it was being built, it faced several protests. People said it would attract undesirables, people with criminal characteristics, sanitation problems, would reduce property values, etc. During the short existence of Vargo Dragway it became a major track hosting such greats as Ronnie Sox, Dick Landy, Woods & Cook, Joe Gertleman, Frank Bash, just to name a few. Even Don Garlits raced on this track! Today it is part of a 100-acre preserved farm. For just over 15 years they have hosted a Vargo Dragway Reunion event that has been a huge success. I just went for the first time this past Saturday and there were easily well over 500 cars at the show. What is neat about this event is the show cars were lined up on the original 1/4-mile dragstrip, which still exists in the middle of this 100-acre farm surrounded by corn. It reminds you instantly of a simpler time. Some of the original racers were present with the car they ran back in the day. I confess I never attended Vargo Dragway back in the day, but often heard about it from several of my buddies who were heavily into drag racing. I never realized how close it was to where we now live. I bought one of the event T-shirts and plan to send it to Don Garlits along with some photos as a gift. Here is the link for the history of Vargo Dragway - http://www.vargodragway.com/history.htm PHOTO 2 - The photo to the left shows an original Vargo Dragway sign, which has survived all these years. The photo to the right shows a portion of this huge 100-acre farm that the dragstrip is located on. The lower photo shows the show cars lined up on the old dragstrip. PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows two of the original racecars that ran at Vargo back in the 1960s. The photo to the right shows a close up of the Hemi powered coupe that is still owned by the original owner. The lower left photo shows an actual photo of the hemi coupe taken back in the day at Vargo Dragway. The lower right photo shows the Hemi powerplant in the coupe. This is a true vintage coupe that the owner has enjoyed for over 50 years. PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows a mint 39,000-mile 1986 Monte Carlo SS that was for sale for $12,900. The top right shows a mint low-mileage early 1960s Ford 2-door sedan for sale. I believe the price was $12,000. The lower left photo shows the engine compartment in the only Grand National that was at the event. Note the Darth Vadar on the core support. The lower right photo shows a fully-restored mint-looking mid-1950s Dodge pickup truck. HONORING OUR VETS - Like some of our readers, I served in the military, specifically the Army from late 1965 through 1968. It included a year’s tour of duty in Vietnam. I was fortunate to land a position in Vietnam as the editor and photographer for the 17th Aviation Group, headquartered in Nha Trang, which was located near Cam Rahn Bay along the coast of Vietnam. This is probably where I learned my writing skills and photography. My Dad even managed to fly over as a civilian journalist and stayed with me for a full week as he traveled around the world on that trip. Looking back, now I realize how fortunate I was compared to others. I only remember one good friend of mine that served in my unit being killed and that happened about two weeks after he returned home to Indiana. After the year’s tour in Vietnam, I landed what has to be one of the most desirable jobs in the Army. I finished my 3-year stint stationed at the Philadelphia Induction Center at 401 North Broad Street. First, I conducting the written tests for inductees and then moved up front to give that speech prior to the recruits going off to basic training. It’s unfortunate that the soldiers that served during that unpopular war were treated so badly when we returned. Our Veterans deserve better and, like many of you, I find it disheartening at the problems related to the various VA hospitals around the country. NEW POWERMASTER BRAKE UNIT UPDATE - The company MBM out of North Carolina is behind the powermaster brake unit project and hopes to have the new reproduction ones in late Spring of 2015. I currently have no other information. As we learn more, we will keep our customers informed. The projected retail price of this new powermaster is around $1600. Once it is available, most of the Turbo suppliers such as our company will have it available. This will give Turbo Regal owners another option to consider. PHILADELPHIA COLLECTS $3.5 MILLION FROM RED LIGHT CAMERAS - Philadelphia expects to take in $3.5 million in fines this year from red-light cameras, If they ever offer this as a franchise business count me in! 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL REPRODUCTION PCV GROMMET - I am happy to report we have lowered the price on the Richard Clark’s reproduction PCV grommet to just $6, our part #7214. It is also part of a 2-grommet kit #6982, still remains at $12. Richard Clark has reproduced this correctly. The original GM replacement had the wrong size relief as did the replacement GM PCV grommet. This reproduction is 100% exact. MULTI-FUNCTION JUMPER STARTER MODEL T-6 UPDATE - There are other companies that make a model T-6 unit however, the company that is producing the one we sell only is selling them to our company is the USA. The company that manufacturers the ones we sell is not even in the automotive side of the business. They are in the battery business. We are working with them on two other projects which may be on the market before the end of this year. Remember the units we sell have 250 cranking amps and 500 peak amps. Many of the others that you see on the market only have 200 cranking and 400 peak amps. As you read this current Inner Circle, we have the multi-function jumper starter models in stock. They also appear on our Christmas Specials if you buy 3 of them. (See our Christmas Specials below). If you only want to order a single unit, you can now order it on our website - #7629. Here is a link to these Multi-Function Jump Starter parts on our website: http://www.kirbanperformance.com/products.php?search_text=7629&submit_button= We are looking for distributors for this product. The product is very easy to sell and not limited to any specific car or truck owner. For pricing and more details, email me personally - [email protected] MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTER USEAGE - Below is part of an email I received earlier last week from Nick Micale, who has found several other uses for the multi jump starter besides the functions we mention. The pump is the one in the transmission he is referring to in the below comments. Below is his email: “The first thing I wanted to check was to be sure the pump would run. I used my handy Kirban's mini-12 volt booster to jump the pump, and it indicated a dead short in the tank. Pulled the pump and see you did a nice job of soldering the new leads from the pump to the sender. However the shrink wrap dissolved in the gas and unfortunately the ground and power and ground joints were not staggered, and they decided to mate! I also heard from another customer who runs a foreign car repair shop near us specializing in German cars. He used the multi jump starter unit to jump a Mercedes that had a completely dead battery that had been sitting for over 6 months. The Mercedes started right up. Since then he has done several other cars and reports it only let him down once, which could have been not getting a good solid connection or the terminals to the battery were not getting a good connection.” Nick Micale 2014 CHRISTMAS SPECIALS - 2014 Christmas Specials - SPECIAL PRICES EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 3rd THROUGH - DECEMBER 5th, 2014 - 4 pm - CHRISTMAS SPECIAL #8550 - BUY THREE UNITS & GET FREE SHIPPING - TOTAL VALUE for 3 Units - SPECIAL PRICE $279.95 Save $19.90 + Free Shipping #7629 - Multi-Function Jump Starter - Model T6 - Jump Starting / Digital Products / LED Lighting $99.95 each = $299.85 value CHRISTMAS SPECIAL #8551 - TOTAL VALUE - $48.95 SPECIAL PRICE $42.95 Save $6 #7634 - 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal - Reproduction O-Rings (35) Kit $48.95 / kit for Fuel, Lubricants, Transmission, Powermaster Unit, Injectors & Fuel Pressure Regulator CHRISTMAS SPECIAL #8552 - TOTAL VALUE - $74.95 SPECIAL PRICE $69.95 Save $5 #7506 - 1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) - ProElite™ Extreme Duty Tan Car Cover $74.95 SOLD OUT ALL THREE SETS - CHRISTMAS SPECIAL #8553 - TOTAL VALUE - $1,494.95 SPECIAL PRICE $1,199.95 Includes FREE SHIPPING Save $295 #7219 - 1984-1987 Regal - GNX/Trans Am Style 16" x 8" WHEELS SET - 4 wheels, 20 Lug Nuts, 20 Lug Nut Black Caps, 4 chrome-plated valve stems, 4 Black Center Caps, and 4 reproduction "GNX" decals NOTE - We only have 3 sets available at this price. Simply email me at - [email protected] NEW PRODUCTS FROM US - 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal - Reproduction O-RINGS KITS Richard Clark has painstakingly put together 2 kits of reproduction O-rings. O-rings are available in two kits: #7633 has 14 O-rings for the injectors and fuel pressure regulator. #7634 has 35 O-rings. These 35 O-rings will fit virtually every application related to the fuel, lubricants, transmission, and powermaster unit. This kit also includes the 14 O-rings in the #7633 kit for the injectors and fuel pressure regulator. NOTE - The transmission and powermaster O-rings are for external leaks, and NOT for a complete overhaul. In many cases, the same O-rings will work on the 1984-1985 Turbo Regal. Since GM has discontinued many of the Buick O-rings, Richard has had to have some of the O-rings reproduced. In one particular case, the O-ring listed for over $20 from GM, making this kit a bargain. Kit #7634 includes a real-size drawing to ensure that the correct O-rings can be easily identified. The O-rings should match the drawing exactly. The O-rings are made of different materials based on the fluid they contact, so no O-rings from any group should ever be used for an application not specified. In some cases, the original O-rings have been problematic on these cars. The O-rings in this kit has been improved to offer better than original performance. Any time connections are disturbed, the O-rings should be replaced with new ones. This kit is the first of its kind specifically for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. A must have item for any 1986-1987 Turbo Regal owner. You should have this kit on hand. NOTE - We recommend these O-rings be installed by a qualified mechanic. NOTE - The 14 O-rings in Kit #7633 are INCLUDED in the 35 O-rings in Kit #7634. Great engine restoration items. 7633 - 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal - Reproduction O-Rings (14) Kit - $14.95 / kit for Injectors and Fuel Pressure Regulator 7634 - 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal - Reproduction O-Rings (35) Kit - $48.95 / kit for Fuel, Lubricants, Transmission, Powermaster Unit, Injectors & Fuel Pressure Regulator Here is a link to these kits on our website: http://www.kirbanperformance.com/products.php?search_text=7633&submit_button= ALWAYS LOOKING FOR IDEAS - If you have any product ideas that would fit our Turbo Buick market that you would like to see available, email me direct - [email protected] ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS - Got any Turbo Buick parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - [email protected]. NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE - We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle. When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another. Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works. NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE - We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo. If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected] ABOUT OUR EMAILS - Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item. IN CLOSING - Remember our Vets!
