Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 02-17-2021 -
IT’S BEEN A TOUGH WEEK FOR US -
We knew the day was soon approaching as our indoor cat Tiger was nearing her end. Nearest
we can figure, she had to be at least 20 years old.
I can even remember the car I was driving when I scooped her up in the dark on Sugar Bottom Road. I was driving our notchback Mustang. It was dark and Eileen was with me when I saw these two very young kittens dash across the road. I quickly stopped and left the headlights on so I could see them. I was only able to capture one who probably had a far longer life than her sibling did. When we got her she would fit in a teacup she was that small. In the last 2-3 weeks we kept her in my office and comfortable as she had trouble walking. I knew the end was near earlier last week when she stopped eating and just slept most of the time. She hardly lifted her head when I came into my office. She will be sorely missed even as I type this now I am having trouble hitting the correct keys as my eyes welled with tears.……
PHOTO 1 - I show three pictures of Tiger, including one with a very young Devyn holding her. One photo shows Tiger at our Beta fish bowl, as she loved drinking the fish bowl water. The last photo shows our two pole building cats Fuzz Ball and Squeak. Besides the two cats, if you look closely, you will see a toad that shares the same living space. The toad showed up last Fall in the building and has made it her home as well. Neither of our cats even bother the toad. Strange bedfellows. Fuzz Ball is the long hair cat. She showed up as a stray maybe 4 or 5 years ago. I got Squeak at a SPCA facility about two years ago, mainly to keep Fuzz Ball company. Both are great companions.
BREAKING NEWS NEW LOWER PRICES ON SEVERAL TURBO PARTS -
We just secured a better pricing policy with one of our sources. The website may not yet be updated to reflect these lower prices. If not simply call our office 215-766-1611. The #7386 the upper dash panel is now just $149.95 plus shipping. The #7222 black 1984-1987 Turbo Regal headlight bezels is now $139.95 a pair. The #7439 rear bumper fillers is now just $269.95 for the set. The full set of front and rear bumper fillers is now just $429.95 plus shipping. These are some substantial savings that we can now offer our customers. It’s not often you see a price reduction on a product.
MORE BREAKING NEWS - STOCK APPEARING INTERCOOLER HOSE SETS -
We have been waiting for these stock appearing hoses since last November 2020! Our order is finally currently in route to us. We should possibly have it by the end of this week. This set of 3 hoses look exactly like the original GM ones only slightly thicker and longer to avoid the issues the original 3 intercooler hoses had. A woven like exterior with orange inside. Part #7553. Our supplier also has informed us that it will be 6 to 8 weeks before we get any more. Once he told us that I bought all the ones he had in stock besides what we had on order. I believe we are the only Turbo Regal supplier of these hoses. The good news is the price remains unchanged at just $44.95 for the set of 3. The supply chain for parts, and the mail system all have been the worse we have experienced in recent memory. In the last two weeks we got several Christmas cards!
ANOTHER UNUSUAL COLLECTOR CAR FOR SALE & TYPHOON GOES TO NEW HOME -
Last week I spotted this unusual car for sale at a small used car dealership while I was checking out the Crossfire. It is a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. Only made these a very few years. This has the V8 engine and believe it's 6.0 litre. These cars are extremely quick. I drove one years ago. The popular color silver exterior with the two tone red and black seats. Only has 72,000 miles on it and also has a clean carfax. Virtually looks new from any angle. Even with the low front spoiler no scraps that I saw. No curb rash on the wheels. The dealer wants $17,700. For more info email me directly [email protected] I can go check it out for any interested buyer. The buyer of the Typhoon had an enclosed transport company come last Friday and take it to its new home in Rhode Island. He has since contacted me and said the truck was nicer than he imagined!
In the meantime I also got a buyer for the Chrysler Crossfire and I am hoping to pick that car up and get it to my house before the next snow storm hits. It works out great for out of state buyers. No state sales tax. I get all the proper paperwork done for the buyer. I drive the vehicle to my house on a dealer plate until a transport company comes for the car or truck. I have plenty of room at our house to put cars. I charge a small fee if I just go inspect the vehicle. Another fee if a deal is made and I go back for the vehicle and make sure I get all the proper paperwork and drive it back to my house. The big advantage is I have a pretty good track record at looking over vehicles so you as a buyer simply do not have to take the sellers word for it nor have to travel to look at a vehicle located in my area. So if you are interested in a car in my immediate area contact me about checking it out for you before you make the deal to avoid possible disappointment.
PHOTO 2 - We show two pictures of the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. Also two pictures of the Typhoon getting loaded for its trip north to its new home in Rhode Island. Dan the new owner already contacted me and was quite pleased with his “new” ride. It shares a home with my 3rd test car, the blue on blue 1987 Turbo-T. Ironic that both vehicles came from within a quarter mile of each other and in its own way both have a connection to me! Now both vehicles are well documented. Sometimes it's the little stuff or documents or photos that help seal a deal for the next owner. Even on my personal cars I keep everything in a file. I seek out cars that have untouched spares, all the glove box books, and once in a while even get one with the window sticker in the glove box!
UNUSUAL ITEMS FOR SALE -
The person I sold the 33,000 mile Turbo-T for the other week from North Carolina has a few unique items for sale. He has two Muncie 4-speeds transmissions. Both have been rebuilt. Both transmissions got all new bearings, gaskets, synchros rings, and sliders as well as small parts. One is the early 1963-1965 style with the 2.56 first gear. The other is a 1966 and newer with a 2.52 first gear. The early one is $795. The later Muncie 4-speed is $895. He will not ship. He may deliver within a 100 mile radius of his home in the Northeast part of North Carolina or in March will be driving up to visit his kids in my area.
He also has a very unusual Buick Turbo Item completely disassembled. It is a 1978 Buick Carburetor non intercooled V6. It is 99% complete with all the vital parts Has new rings, bearings, gaskets, for assembly. With it goes GM drawings, parts lists, and original brochure. The price is $450. It has a forged crank which may for the later turbo engines. He will not ship this. He also has a pair of redone 1979 and up V6 heads. Should be the same as the 1986-1987 Turbo V6 heads. The price is $300 for the pair. He may be able to ship these.
Email me [email protected] and I will provide you with the information to contact John.
FOR SALE - 2006 HONDA CRV SE MODEL -
Every once in a while we have a winning bid on a “diamond in the rough” Meaning a car that even through the layers of dirt the vehicle appears to be in very good condition. I know as I got 2 from bid lots and a 3rd one that our granddaughter has probably put 35,000 miles on since I got it a few years ago from one of the bid lots I go to for this small country dealership.
As I write this I had it hand washed. I then clayed it and waxed it. This Honda CRV is black and the end result is a mirror finish with very few minor imperfections in the body. It has never been smoked in, has no odors, very tight vehicle drives extremely nice. One owner. Leather black interior with heated seats. All power options. Full size spare housed in the factory Honda cap hanging off the tailgate. The plastic cap that houses the full size spare hanging off the back you could box it and sell it as brand new! Which by the way is perfect. No curb rash on the factory mags. I think at the most it may have 2 or 3 minor dings in the entire body. CVR has no rust. Miles is 157,000 which if you know anything about Hondas is it performs like most American cars with 50,000 miles on it. Hondas go the distance!
I got a 2003 Honda Civic manual shift showing 219,000 on it. Doesn’t drop any oil on the garage floor. AC blows ice cold and heats blows super hot. Has 100% original paint. The CRV has all the factory glove box manuals, even the window sticker, good tires, and good state inspection good thru 11-21. Every body panel has the VIN sticker. I don’t see any evidence of the CRV ever having any paint work. It does have a crack in the lower part of the windshield which will be replaced. The price is $5995 OBO. The CRV comes with 2 remotes and 3 keys. This 2006 HONDA CRV is Kirban quality. Interior is also very nice. For more info and more photos contact me direct [email protected] Possible partial trades considered.
PHOTO 3- We show both Muncie rebuilt 4-speed transmissions. We also show two pictures of the 2006 CRV Honda before I detailed it.

With the GNX prices continuing to rise this is one item most potential buyers always ask the seller if they have the jacket. Email me personally [email protected] I can provide seller information.
This same seller has a fully restored #5 1989 Turbo Trans Am Festival car for sale. The suspension has all been redone Metco control arms, tubular front cross member, race shocks front and rear. UPDATE ON PAUL CASTLE -
He recently had to go back to the hospital where because of continued infection had to remove all his remaining toes from his left foot and part of his foot. He then spent about a week at Rehab. As most of you may know rehab places are usually a portion or a floor in a nursing home. So when he was in the nursing home he called me. I told him to seek out the oldest person in the nursing home that their mind is still sharp and alert. Try and find someone 100 years old or older. He gets back to me and finds a lady whose name is Mary is actually 104 years old and sharp as a tact. I said ask her about the great Chicgao fire, was Lincoln a good President, and anything about Al Capone. I figured being in the Chicago area to test her knowledge on events from that area.
Day or so later Paul gets back to me after meeting her. She said General Patton was an evil man. Not sure how his name came up. She remembers the great Chicago fire was started by a cow. The strange thing she said was she knew Al Capone had a hideaway near Elgin, Illinois. It struck me strange that this 104 year old woman would know this. I doubt anyone had ever even asked her anything about Al Capone in the last 60 plus years. So I asked Paul to ask her how she knew this little tidbit about Al Capone? Few days later he gets back to me and says one of her relatives would deliver moonshine to Al Capone at his hideaway near Elgin, Illinois. Here is a lady 104 years old who has witnessed first hand over 100 years of US history. In school they never taught you any history of the criminal elements even if you lived in that area. Paul was able to get transferred back to his home to rehab. Doctors are not sure what the next move will be if the remaining part of his foot fails to heal properly. If you can email him to lift his spirits. His email is [email protected] Paul is just 51 years old. He now knows where Al Capone had one of his hideaways.
It certainly would have made History far more interesting if school invited someone in that actually lived that experience. I remember my granddaughter taking history in school and when they covered the Vietnam war. I offered to go and speak about Vietnam and for whatever reason it never happened. One thing to learn from a textbook but it makes it more interesting if a person that has lived it or experienced it first hand.
FOLLOW UP TO ONE OF LAST WEEK'S PICTURE OF MEMORIES PAST -
The other day I heard from John Jackson who is pictured in the top left Photo 3 of last week's Inner Circle talking to Molly. He emailed me he hails from North Carolina. Years ago I sold him one of my rarest Turbo-Ts, a 1987 hardtop that was sage green! One of two I bought and sold. Over the years he had 7 or 8 Turbo Regals and that was one of the quickest he owned. On street tires at a Buick event he ran a 13.01 time. Car was a bench seat column shift with crank windows and the cheap am radio! Said the price was originally $7500, but I had to raise it as the powermaster was leaking. He paid me $7900 for the car. The paint was faded with a lot of dings. He did the valve springs, and the timing chain. He also had the transmission rebuilt. He later bought a white Turbo-T that I checked out for him that he drove to my Reunion event and Molly signed the trunk ID label. He wishes he had kept the sage green Turbo-T.
REBUILDING SERVICE FOR ALTERNATORS, GENERATORS, STARTERS -
Once in a while we get a request to see if we can get the original older alternators rebuilt like we do for the Turbo Regals. Last week a owner of a 1967 GTO contacted me and he is sending me his to get done by our source. The alternator can be of any make or model car not just GM. Once I get it I will take a picture of before and after. My source can virtually rebuild any old generator or starter for virtually any old car or truck. Last week he did one for 1936 LaSalle. In each case he will pump up the amps as many of the older alternators only put out 37 to 60 amps. Higher output windings make the vehicle run better and keep the voltage at a normal rate.
Each part is tested and the finished product is bench tested to make sure it is working properly. My source has been doing this for well over 35 years. I have known him most of that time. Not only will they look new externally and correct with new and refurbished internals, but even be better than they were when they were new originally. They will also come with the same limited warranty. Each one is tested before I get them back. The price would be $179.95 for any of the older alternators plus shipping. For other applications such as starters and generators email me direct [email protected] for pricing.
Turn around time 5 to 7 days is my initial guess as he is only a few towns away from where we live. With it being winter time it's the perfect time to remove your original alternator or generator and have it rebuilt. It doesn’t pay to risk buying one that has been mass produced. The alternator or generator is one of the most visible parts in the engine compartment. You would ship your part with your info to KIRBAN PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS, 529 Haycock Run Road, Kintnersville, PA 18930. Once I get one to take a picture we will get this new service on our website. I imagine a portion of our customers have other collectible cars and would like to have this service available to them.

COLLECTOR CAR COLLECTION UPDATE - THREE TURBO REGALS & ONE SYCLONE -
All these are still available. The 1986 blue T-Type and the 1987 Grand National he purchased brand new. He is the 3rd owner of the white 1987 Turbo-T. These cars are located in Tennessee.
In each case he has the original parts that he removed years ago when the modifications were done. Some of them have the very desirable AVC GNX style dash installed. In each case email me [email protected] and let me know which car interests you. I can forward you more photos and supply you with the email address to the seller.
All the below cars have been fitted with SECO alarm systems and keyless entry. In my opinion the blue 1986 T-Type is a fairly rare car due to its color. Plus it has low miles. All these cars have always been in Tennessee so rust is not an issue. All have been garaged most of their life.
He has a white 1987 Turbo Regal with T-Tops. He did not buy this car brand new. It has the M & A Casting aluminum heads on them that were introduced in the early 1990s time frame. I had one of the first sets on our personal Grand National. Back then they sold for around $2500 a set. This car has been raced and has run in the high 6 second range for the ⅛ mile. The car is slightly twisted due to its racing history and the fact it has T-Tops. Mileage is about 75,000. The price is $25,000 OBO.
The 1987 Grand National he purchased this car brand new and has 112,000. It has the rare astro roof option. It was repainted many years ago 1984 Corvette firemist color. Reasonably priced at $20,000 OBO.
The light blue Turbo Regal is a 1986 T-Type Regal. He purchased this car brand new. Due to the original poor quality paint job he actually had the Buick dealership respray the car under warranty. Internally stock with zero rust. Car has approximately 67,000 miles. It is a hardtop. The price is $25,000 OBO.
He also purchased the Syclone brand new. Like all the others listed here this also has been garaged since new. Mileage is approximately 9,500. The price is $44,900 OBO. The last three digits of the VIN is 294 which I believe is also the number of the Syclone produced.
For more photos on any of these three Turbo Regals and the Syclone email me directly [email protected] and specify which car perks your interest.
NOW IN STOCK -
We just got in another supply of the popular black 9-piece trunk kits. The black 9-piece kit outsells the grey 9-piece trunk kit. Either kit finishes the trunk area far better than the flimsy piece of carpet Buick tossed in the trunk. I suggest you call our office if you want either trunk kit. The part number is #6510 for the grey kit and #7764 for the black trunk kit. The supplier is always backed up so orders take awhile. The 9-piece trunk kit is identical to the factory option. Plus it hides that spare and jack that you probably don’t have in the trunk the way Buick did it from the factory! It may be several weeks before we get any more in stock.
EBAY LISTINGS -
Be sure to check ebay every week or so as we post parts under both Kirban Performance and Kirban Enterprises. You never know what will be posted from us.

We discovered that FedEx will not forward any packages that are sent to the old PO Box or to our old address in Plumsteadville. Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside or send them back to the shipper. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use FedEx. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US –
“KIRBAN CUSTOMS INC.
HINTS & TIPS FOR BUYING AND BUILDING KIT CARS” Book
We are offering an interesting book, written by my son Darrell Kirban in 2000, relating to the auto kit car builders market. His skills for painting, body work and custom design work started at a very early age.
“KIRBAN CUSTOMS INC. HINTS & TIPS FOR BUYING AND BUILDING KIT CARS” gives useful and practical information based on the many kit car projects and years of experience he has designing and building kit cars.
The book measures 6″ x 9″, has over 100 pages, and 22 chapters with over 150 photos and illustrations.
Some of the chapter titles include: Choosing and Preparing the Donor Car, Choosing a Quality Kit, Wheels and Offsets, Useful Tools for Your Project, Hinging and Latching Panels, Mounting the Body, Basic Fiberglass Techniques, Bodywork, Interiors, Paint, Finishing Touches, Insurance and Appraisals, and Related Magazines.
If you are interested in kit cars, you’ll enjoy this book as Darrell has a knack for writing so the average person can understand the procedures. You may also know someone that is interested in kit cars and this would be a great gift item for them. Limited supplies available.
NOTE - Our copies will be autographed by Darrell Kirban while supplies last.
If you already have my book, “Kirban’s Guide to the 1986 and 1987 Buick Turbo Regals,” (part #6757) you could own books from two generations of Kirbans. You could also go to eBay and find one of my dad’s books (search Salem Kirban.) He wrote over 50 books on Bible prophecy and health. This would give you books spanning three generations.

STAINLESS STEEL BLACK POWDER-COATED LICENSE FRAMES WITH TAGLINE DECAL -
OR TAGLINE DECALS -
One thing that has been missing all these years for the Turbo Regal owner is a nice stainless black powder-coated license plate frame. We have designed several with a unique tagline referring to some of the most collectible high-performance car models.
We have come up with the various designs shown in Photo 2.
The handsome metal black license plate frame measures 12-1/4″ x 6-1/4″, which is the standard size to hold state license plates. Frames are made from stainless steel, then powder-coated black for lasting quality.
Included with each frame is a packet of new attaching hardware, complete with black caps so the hardware doesn’t show.
Each frame comes with the decal already affixed. Most of the decals are white wording on a black background. Several decals are two colors (white and red) on a black background.
Notice the font style for the tagline “HIGH OUTPUT V6” decal matches the 3.8 sfi turbo hood emblems.
We also offer each decal separately in case you would like to apply it to any signs, a toolbox, etc.
Choose from the selection below.
NOTE - We offer the decals for $5 each. If you contact the office at 215-766-1611, you can purchase more than one decal at a time for a lower price. Example - Buy any 2 decals for $8.95 (save $2.05.) You must call to order multiple decals.

Usually the more expensive GM cars have a nice holder for their Owner’s Manual.
Originally Buick put all the documents in a plain clear plastic bag. Since these turbo cars didn’t come with a holder in the car, we’ve designed one.
Our black vinyl Owner’s Manual holder measures 6-3/4" x 10" and fits perfectly in your glove box.
The words “A BOOST OF BUICK PERFORMANCE” appear in silver below the flap.
There are two business card holders on the flap. You can insert your insurance company agent’s business card or your mechanic’s business card.
This holder is great for storing the Owner’s Manual, Warranty cards, insurance papers, service records, etc.
It also makes a great gift item for any car enthusiast.
An excellent protection for your Owner’s Manual and documents.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be used if you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me directly - [email protected] - and I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING -
We were recently contacted by two sources that once the winter weather ends hopefully we can strike a deal on a bunch of parts that both these sellers have accumulated over a number of years. In one case the individual has passed away. In the other instance the seller recently turned 80 years young. Will have more info on both deals once Spring gets here and it can’t be sooner enough! A solid week of temps never getting above freezing mark.
Please, if you have any original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal turbos, cash them in with us for the $175 Letter of Credit. This helps us help our customers obtain the rebuilt turbo they need for their car.
HERE ARE TWO MORE RARE ITEMS FOR SALE -
In both cases I have more photos available and can provide the email address for the seller. He only wants serious buyers. First is a brand new never worn GNX JACKET. The size is XXL. It is very hard to find the bigger size original GNX jackets. The price tag for this mint XXL unused GNX jacket is $2995.
Transmission stage built by Jimmy's Transmission, 3 bullet deep pan 9,5 race convertor. New carpet and new headliner. Cloth Interior with T-Tops. Engine has been worked scat crankshaft, JE forged pistons, ARP bolts, factory heads and intake ported, Precision plenum 70mm, PT67 turbo with 3 inch downpipe and custom 3 inch exhaust. Every part on the engine has been powder coated. I LT 3.5 inch maf sensor, 60lb injectors, Walbro fuel pump, hotwired, Jet coated headers. Plus more! The price tag is $27,495 OBO possible trades considered. Email me personally [email protected] I can provide seller information.
PHOTO 4 - We show two pictures of the GNX jacket. Remember it is brand new and XXL size. Also two photos of the #5 1989 Turbo Trans Am Festival cars.

In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use FedEx. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

Good news - We now accept Classified Ads in our weekly Inner Circle emails. Over the years several customers have asked about placing an ad in our weekly Inner Circle.
Here are the options and the costs.

You must subscribe to see the Rare Parts section each week. It would go directly to your inbox every Wednesday afternoon. It is FREE, probably one reason why nobody complains about what I write about. To subscribe simply email – [email protected] - to get our free weekly Inner Circle email.

“A BOOST OF BUICK PERFORMANCE”
OWNER’S MANUAL HOLDER
