Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 10-30-2019 –
COLLECTIBLES –
Since we moved, I’ve come across lots of collectibles and things I didn’t even know I had. As we go through the items, we will make some unique items available to our readers before we put items on eBay.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON RARE PARTS FOR SALE –
In order for our Inner Circle members to have an equal opportunity on the Rare Parts, no emails regarding prices on rare parts will be honored prior to 3 pm Wednesday. This way Inner Circle members get the opportunity first to purchase any of the rare items that may be pictured in the main body of the Inner Circle which may go on our website earlier in the day each week. Inner Circle members get to see the Rare Parts listing and see the prices first.
MORE COLLECTIBLES –
The latest two items can be seen in Photo 1 and come from our 2007 Reunion/Anniversary Event. This was the last event Molly attended.
PHOTO 1 – Shows the special two-sided coffee mug we had done for the event. Also, attendees at the banquet received an autographed 1:64 scale diecast Grand National. Molly’s signature is on the trunk lid. See the Rare Parts section for pricing of these two Reunion collectibles.
ORIGINAL BUICK TURBO REGAL – CLOTHING –
Back when the Turbo Regals were new, Molly had a Buick clothing line that he operated for a few years. He is probably best known for designing the GNX jacket that each original GNX owner was entitled to when they purchased the car. In one brochure I have, it does show the all-black spring jacket pictured in Photo 2. According to the brochure, that jacket sold for $44.95 back then. I can only assume the other Grand National jacket (two-tone) may have been added later to his product line as I do not have any information on it.
PHOTO 2 – We show both Grand National spring jackets from Molly Designs. Both jackets have the Molly Design label inside. See Rare Parts section for more details and pricing.
ASC McLAREN GNX T-SHIRT –
Of the Buick GNX clothing, the two rarest items to find today would be a Molly Design GNX jacket and an ASC McLaren GNX T-shirt. While GNX owners initially got a GNX jacket free, the ASC T-shirts were handed out to employees at ASC who worked on the GNX project. That is one reason the original ASC GNX T-shirts are extremely rare today. The ASC McLaren T-shirt has been reproduced and the only difference would be that the label of the original manufacturer would be different, which was originally was Screen Stars. Also, a new reproduction ASC T-shirt would lack the 30 years of aging that an original faded white GNX T-shirt would have.
Over the years, I have only had 2 GNX jackets. Prices for original jackets have skyrocketed along with the actual GNX.
I remember years ago buying all of Molly’s remaining stock of unclaimed GNX jackets. Going by memory, I am sure I sold them for less than $100 each back in the 1990s.
PHOTO 3 – We show an original 30-year-old ASC McLaren GNX T-shirt. See the Rare Parts section for more details.
OLD-TIME HOBBIES FROM MY YOUTH –
As I get older, I sometimes reflect on my youth and growing up as the oldest of 5 kids. I remember I had two hobbies prior to reaching driving age. Once I hit the driving age of 16, cars took over all my free time as well as put a huge dent in my grades in 11th and 12th grade. I had to attend summer school to enter 12th grade.
Back in the 1950s and 1960s, stamp collecting was popular among kids and I remember having albums filled with various stamps. You would trade them or send away for a special stamp. I also collected First Day Issue stamps. The other hobby, which I remember my Dad also enjoyed, was buying train cars in kit form and then assembling them. The key to building various train cars was to make them as accurate as possible to the originals. This was more rewarding then simply buying a plastic train car that was already assembled.
One might say those where simple times and perhaps they were. In my home office I still have a passenger train on display as well as a steel locomotive that I hand painted when I was probably about 11-12 years old.
PHOTO 4 – Shows 2 older sheets of stamps based on the comic strip classics that I found in my desk. This was back when First Class postage was 32 cents. The other single sheet focuses on the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad. This sheet of stamps is 2019 and stands out from all the other stamps with its gold trim. All of these stamps pale in comparison to the value an original stamp that features the upside-down plane that was printed many years ago. That upside-down airplane stamp is positive proof that mistakes can be quite valuable!

This sign has been sold!
WELL-OPTIONED LOW - MILEAGE 1987 GRAND NATIONAL FOR SALE –
This Grand National is still available. This extremely well-optioned, low-mileage 1987 Grand National that is for sale. The owner wants me to sell it for him. He has had it 6 years. The miles on this Grand National is a mere 48,200. Options include factory moonroof, power windows, power locks, tilt, cruise, delay wipers, concert sound, power trunk, digital dash, power seat, working power antenna, and posi rear. The Grand National is located in Maryland.
It has a beautiful repaint done prior to his owning it. He had paint correction done and ceramic coating this past Spring. The car really shines, probably 100%, better than original. Everything functions 100%, even the original AC.
Additional features include embroidered floor mats, few chrome goodies under the hood, Kirban adjustable fuel regulator, hot wire kit, 60lb injectors, adjustable wastegate, TT chip, new bumper fillers, new fuel tank, and has dual a-pillar gauges and console gauge package. He checked the car with a magnet and shows no putty or filler anywhere. It has the factory chip guard along bottom of the car.
According to the owner Mike, the Grand National has had 4 previous owners. The car shows no accidents or any indication that mileage is not accurate.
The price is $26,900. This Grand National is priced to sell. You would be hard pressed to find a better example of a well-optioned 1987 Grand National that would measure up to the quality of this one at this price. A factory moon roof with a power seat option is extremely rare. This car next Spring would easily bring several grand more than it is priced at this fall.
This car is show quality from any angle. For more information and photos, email me direct [email protected]
Pass the word along to your friends who may be looking for a great-looking well-optioned Grand National.
HOW MUCH IS A PARKING SPACE WORTH? –
Apparently in Hong Kong parking spaces are quite limited and, because of this, are quite pricy. A businessman recently paid $970,000 for a single parking spot.
Two things quickly come to mind. Was that for just 1 year or longer? Perhaps even more important is what kind of car would warrant paying almost a million dollars to park in that spot? You can probably rule out a Yugo.
HAVE YOU NOTICED? –
It wasn’t that many years ago that the hype for a new product was when new car models were introduced each year, usually around this time every year. You got to see the new models and compared them to the outgoing models. Maybe your parents upgraded their choice of cars every 3 or 4 years. New car models used to be the single most product that garnered attention.
Now it seems everyone waits for the latest and greatest new cellphone from some of the biggest companies such as Apple and Samsung. It seems it was just a matter of time before one of them broke the $2 grand price barrier, like the Samsung foldable phone.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US –
1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
Reproduction REAR DUAL EXTENDED RANGE 10 OHM SPEAKERS (2) Set
Finally, a company has reproduced the extended range 10 ohm 4" x 10" rear speakers that was an option available on every 1984-1987 Regal, including the Turbo models.
To determine if your car came equipped with the extended range speakers, check for the code “U66” on the trunk ID label (SPID).
These upgraded extended range speakers were included with most of the various upgraded factory radios for an additional cost of $25 for the pair.
NOTE - You must have the factory cages to properly secure this speaker to the back deck.
These have the same matching 3-1/4" diameter magnet. To see if your car has this format check the SPID label for the “U66” code. If the label is missing, measure the magnet on the current rear deck speakers to see if it measures 3-1/4" diameter.
If it does, these are the speakers you need.
After more than 30 years, many are blown out due to heat and the age of the speaker.
Each pair comes with an adapter harness so you do not have to cut the factory harness.
Speakers are marked and come with directions so you know which is the plus terminal and which is the minus terminal.
NOTE - You may also be interested in this related part - #7433 Power Antenna Upgraded Steel Cable Repair Kit
Another excellent replacement for any interior restoration.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - and I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING – We been blessed with above average-temperatures even though the calendar says it’s fall.
