1984-1987 TURBO BUICK - POWDER-COATED GLOSSY BLACK HOOD HINGE BOLTS -
We have now have the hood hinges and hood shocks brackets bolts powder-coated glossy black, and offer the bolts in a set of 14. We use brand new OEM bolts for this set. We even include two extra bolts for those of us that drop one and never see it again.
The set not only does both hood hinges, but the bracket to the hood that secures the hood shocks as well. This is a nice touch to a neglected area of your engine compartment. Powder coating is the secret to having something stay nice for a long period of time!
See our New Products section for more detailed information.

MORE FACTORY GM CASSETTES AND 8 TRACKS -
I recently saw an ad in our local newspaper from a person selling some old GM items.
I called and it turns out he bought out some items from a GM dealership years ago that closed. He would basically go to local flea markets and sell the items he got from the dealership. He had a few of the original cassette and 8-tracks.
We did an article on this a few months back on some GM cassettes and GM CDs.
The ones I have pictured in Photo 1 are for sale. I do have duplicates of some of the ones pictured in Photo 1. If you are interested, email me - [email protected]
PHOTO 2 - The photo on the left shows 3 different GM 8-tracks. 2 were for Oldsmobile and I assume the other was for any GM product that had a factory 8-track. The 8-track format became a GM option in 1967 and continued in various GM vehicles through the early 1970s. The photo on the right shows 3 different GM cassettes. The cassette format started around 1971 in GM vehicles. One cassette pictured is specifically for the Pontiac, one was for Chevrolet, and the last one was for GM models that had a Bose system. The Bose audio system was used in Cadillac and also various Corvette models. These unique 8-tracks and cassettes are extremely hard to find and would be very desirable for any car owner having one of these cars.
THE HYPE BEGINS FOR THE UPCOMING STAR WARS MOVIE -
The hype began this past week with the release of the trailer for the upcoming Star Wars movie. This will create a major marketing business for the toy industry as well as the collectible market.
As many of our readers know, over the years I have collected unique items and displays, not just automotive related.
Back in 2005 Pepsi made 2500 of a life-size Yoda statue. This was cast in resin off the original mold, from what I have read. The Yoda display weighs about 70 lbs! I bought one from a customer of ours out of Florida, Jack DiLorenzo, and he delivered it to me at the GS Nationals back in 2005 or 2006.
Pepsi also licensed the Paul Flum company to make a R2D2 cooler. This was probably made around the same time as the Yoda display was produced. This was a plastic cooler for storing Pepsi and was used in stores. It stands about 4 feet tall. I can’t recall where I bought it. These are equally hard to find today, especially since used coolers would be subject to wear and breakage because they were plastic. I have no idea how many of them were produced.
In checking values over the past week, I was surprised to see the Pepsi cooler is valued as high as the molded Yoda! I think probably it’s because the coolers are harder to find in nice condition. Both can be found on ebay from around $1,000 to $1,500. Shipping either of them can add another several hundred dollars to the price tag.
It stands to reason, as time passes these collectibles will further increase in value, especially since both of these collectibles I have are in mint condition.
Like the Turbo Regals, the Grand National, and GNX in particular, they were popular and sought after when they were new and continue to be sought after today. The values just continue skyward. Buick has not come out with another two-door performance car to capture the market.
PHOTO 3 - The photo to the left shows the plastic R2D2 cooler produced by Paul Flum. Note the Pepsi logo on the base of it. The photo to the right shows the Pepsi Yoda figure. I have it sitting on top of a brand new Coca-Cola refrigerator that I have owned for a number of years. Also visible in the photo is an original metal lid from a Hurst wheel can. This is 1965-1966 vintage and is signed by Bill Campbell, (Co-founder of Hurst) and Linda Vaughn (known as Miss Hurst Golden Shifter.)
TURBO REGAL POWER ANTENNAS -
Turbo Regal power antennas probably have a failure rate almost as high as the powermaster brake system!
It would not be so bad if removing it and replacing it was not a major job, requiring patience and lack of profanity. I can recall back when I was picking up Turbo Regals and bringing them back to our location, I would hear the motor run on some of the antennas. It never seemed to matter if the was antenna hardly ever got used or if it was used a lot. Failure was fairly common.
The unusual antenna issue that I clearly recall was the first GNX I bought with 175,000 miles. That power antenna had never been replaced and worked perfectly.
We just found out last week that we can no longer get the GM repair kit, our part #7434. This kit included the tube and mast. The more popular kit we sell is a lot cheaper and usually solves most of the issues as long as the mast is not bent and the motor still functions. That is part #7433 and sells for $32.95.
We may have a solution for the replacement power antenna. One of our suppliers has gotten them reproduced. This would be the entire power antenna assembly, with a new mast and motor included. I am not sure at this point if you have to install the small bracket from the original assembly to the tube on this new reproduction or not. I hope to have this new one to examine in the next week.
Almost any owner will tell you they have had 1 of these 3 things fail. The powermaster, the power antenna, or the headliner!
PHOTO 4 - Shows our power antenna repair kit, part #7433. See the Rare Parts section #2203 for the remaining GM AC Delco power antenna kits with the tube and mast, part #7434.

CORRECTION FROM LAST WEEK’S INNER CIRCLE -
The photos from the GS Nationals I identified the AMC car as a Hornet when it is really a Gremlin. Thanks to Don Edmands Jr for this correction.
In my car buying over the years, I have only owned one AMC product and that was a stationwagon I took in trade years ago.
We have owned several of the so-called orphaned cars, such as Packard and Studebakers. Not to mention Oldsmobile and Pontiac that more recently joined the list of car makes no longer made.
MISTAKES SPOTTED AT THE GS NATIONALS -
I was only able to get away from my vendor spot for a short period of time on Friday, Car Show Day, at the GS Nationals.
Here is a short list of some of the mistakes I saw that owners make with their Turbo Regals.
Installing hood shocks incorrectly. The larger piston goes toward the hood, not toward the ground.
The boost line to the wastegate solenoid on the passenger’s side valve cover goes into the outward outlet on the solenoid, not the inner one. The inner one gets the small foam filter.
The cardboard that is secured in the trunk by the spare tire knob goes under the trunk carpet, not on top of the trunk carpet. It’s purpose is to keep the trunk carpet from falling into the spare tire well.
Last, but not least, the most common problem was the base collar on the steering wheel being loose. The 3 small screws back out, creating a rattle in the steering column. The fix requires a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel to get to the base collar and tighten the 3 screws.
As time marches onward, more and more owners are making their cars as original as possible. Buying a highly-modified car today can be a real challenge to maintain, unless you possess exact details on what the previous owner did. It also helps to have a high grade of mechanical skills or someone in your area that does have those skills. Today your local GM dealer is not going to be much help, since most of their mechanics from when the car was new have retired!
GNX CONTEST CAR UPDATE -
According to Jason, who went to the Mecum Auction, he now reports the GNX has 17 miles on it and is for sale at a dealership in sunny Florida.
The price tag is now $140,000 or best offer.
GNX REPRODUCTION WHEELS -
I have a pair (2) of the GNX-style wheels we sell on our website. This pair (2) had tires mounted on them but were never used on the road. They are exactly as new. The buyer thought he could go with bigger tires using this offset on his car. You can own this pair (2) for $399 and $25 UPS shipping to the basic 48 states. Contact our office to purchase them - 215-766-1611 x 0.
THOUGHTS TO PONDER -
In one of the southern states they have signs along the interstate by bridges that read, “Caution Bridge May Ice in Winter.” You would think most drivers realize that the chances of ice forming in the summer would be none!
Why is it when pulling into a gas station for fuel, the driver in front of you does not pull up to the furthest pump allowing you to fill your tank?
BREAKING NEWS - PYPES EXHAUST SYSTEMS -
Pypes is currently waiting for one or two parts they need to complete their Pypes Exhaust System. We expect to have systems in stock the first week of November.
If you need to order a Pypes Dual Exhaust system for your 1986-1987 Turbo Regal, it’s best to get on our list by calling Christina - 215-766-1611 x 0. We will NOT charge your credit card until we are ready to ship your order.
SPECIAL LIMITED SALE -
Currently we are overstocked with our fiberglass front and rear bumpers. Part #1507 is the front bumper and #1532 is the rear bumper. The retail is normally $190 each. However, if you purchase both the front and rear at the same time, your cost would be $365. You would save $15 by purchasing both. These are for off road use only.
FOURTH GENERATION CAMAROS & FIREBIRDS -
We are looking for someone that deals in the 4th Generation Camaro parts that wants a deal on a bunch of related 4th Generation Camaro/Firebird parts.
CORES NEEDED -
We have an urgent need for powermaster cores, steering wheel cores, and turbo cores.
Here is the information on our credits for cores.
POWERMASTER CORES must be complete with brake bowl and brake switch. You get $100 Letter of Credit or we will trade our complete headlight kit #7530 a $129.95 value for each acceptable core. Powermaster units must be nice and not look like they been in a river for the last 10 years.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock ones. They must be complete. We will issue you a $100 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core. WE HAVE AN URGENT NEED FOR THESE.

Also, any cars that our customers have for sale will be featured here and you can see their car with photos on our website. In this category, we will run the descriptions for two-to-three weeks and, if there is no interest in that particular vehicle, it will be deleted the following week. 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
OEM BEARING for the Stock Belt Tensioner Pulley
We discovered that most of the aftermarket belt tensioner pulleys from the various suppliers do not match up to the original design.
The simple solution was to find the manufacturer of the actual bearing that GM used. We carry that exact bearing, made by the same manufacturer.
It is a double-sealed ball bearing.
You need to get it pressed in by someone that has a bench press. It does not require much effort to press in the new bearing.
Our photo shows an original on the lower left, this new replacement bearing on the lower right and a stock belt tensioner pulley at the top.

Regal Hardtop Reproduction
GREY HEADLINER & SUN VISORS MATERIAL - 3 YARDS
Over time, the headliner deteriorates or may start to sag.
We offer a reproduction grey headliner material for the 1984-1987 Buick Regals hardtop models. It will also be correct for the T-Tops models, but you’ll have extra material left over.
If you are having the interior restored, this is the time to replace the headliner.
The only sure way to get a positive color match with the sun visors is to use the same material from the same roll for the hardtop headliner and sun visors at the same time.
We only offer the correct factory grey headliner material for the Grand National and T-Type Regal hardtops.
This is the same material that our local supplier has been using for years when he does Grand National headliners.
NOTE - Colors may not appear correctly on the website due to computer monitor differences. If you would like us to send you a small piece of the material, contact our office - 215-766-1611 x 0.
According to the reference books that companies use, this is the only grey GM used during the 1980s, except for the Cadillac models.
We offer it in a 3-yard length only, which is ample material to do a hardtop headliner as well as both sun visors.
If the factory headliner board is still in good shape and not cracked or ruined, this is the best method to redo the headliner. Also plan to have the sun visors redone at the same time.
NOTE - We no longer offer the ABS pre-covered headliner shell, part #7418, as shown in the second photo.
NOTE - We recommend this headliner material be installed by an upholstery shop. You will need to have a hole cut out for the interior light.
NOTE - We recommend you also purchase Part #7362, Headliner Molding Clips (8) Set. Since the original clips are old, they may break when you remove them to install the new headliner.
Another great restoration item.

UPPER DASH DUAL CONE SPEAKERS (2) SET
One of the toughest replacement speakers to find are the small ones that go in the upper dash corners. The speaker size is 3-1/2 inches.
Because of the age of these cars, the original speakers may be cracked from the heat or age.
We offer these new 3-1/2" diameter replacement dual cone speakers.
They have been tested by Richard Clark and are an excellent replacement speaker. These are a 2-way Performance Series Dual Cone Coaxial Car Speaker. You will have to modify one or both connectors on the plug end to attach the factory plug harness properly to these speakers. The plug end is basically the same, but the width is different from the original factory speakers.
If you have the Concert Sound II option in the doors, you need to order part #7689.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again.

However, if you purchase both the front and rear at the same time, your cost would be $365. You would save $15 by purchasing both. These are for off road use only.

VEHICLES FOR SALE -
From time to time, whenever we spot an unusual or an exceptional car or truck for sale, or one we have for sale, we will put a blurb in our weekly Inner Circle. Also, any cars that our customers have for sale will be featured here and you can see their car with photos on our website. In this category, we will run the descriptions for two-to-three weeks and, if there is no interest in that particular vehicle, it will be deleted the following week. Any new vehicles that we add will appear first, so the oldest listing would be at the end of this section.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
