One of the VW buses was a no sale at $67,000! I do not have the info on the second VW bus. As the figures suggest the market right now is further proof the prices are soft for the Turbo Regals. Not the case with VW buses. Not sure what the seller was seeking on the VW bus, but $67,000 seems like a pretty high price to me! Fits all 1984-1987 Turbo Regals. THE FOUR HAND BUILT STREET RODS PICTURED LAST WEEK - Nobody guessed accurately exactly what is so unique about these four street rod models. Each one has 45 to 55 hours into the build! He did not start building these until he was almost 70 years old! He started to build these in 2009. What is plastic on all of them is the 4 wheels. The rest in most cases are handcrafted wood, or hand crafted in aluminum! Everything on most of the engines including the radiator shroud, accessories on the engine are made from aluminum. The body, engine block and transmission are all hand crafted from wood. All built by hand! Every part on those first 4 featured Street Rods is hand formed in either wood, aluminum, or copper! Except the wheels and tires! The pictures do not do them justice. Each has been encased in a plastic case so they were never exposed to dust or dirt! I met with him again this past saturday with all of them so he could tell me exactly what parts he made for each car and what parts came from a plastic kit. At the same time I had him sign a place card for each one as the builder. A photo will go with each car that I sell to prove it! HERE IS THE STORY ON THE STREET RODS & AUCTION - He never sold any of them until he took one to this toy store I was selling Grand National diecast cars to. This toy store has been buying the Grand National diecasts from me and I autograph the boxes and he sells them. On one visit I spotted on a shelf one street rod in a plastic showcase with what I thought was a high price on it. I could not understand why it was priced so high. At a quick glance I did not see how unique it was. Once I did I bought it and asked him if the seller had any others. He said he thinks so and he would call him. He said he had maybe 10 or more. I told him I would buy every one of them. Week later he shows up with 29 of them! Lucky for me he accepted my company check! He said he had 3 others but wanted to keep them. He said he never sold any of them, just enjoyed building them. I made arrangements for him to come back the following week as I wanted him to sign a place card for each of them as the builder. I also said if he changes his mind I would buy the remaining three he had decided to keep. He said for the right money he would sell them. I also bought them. They were the very first three he built back in 2009. The first one the engine is not exposed. His skill level from 2009 to 2021 has vastly improved! Most of his models were built in the last 3 years. As any vendor will tell you, you always want to buy the seller's entire stock to corner the market. I realize my readers may not be the right market for these, but I plan to try it for a few. There is one huge show coming up soon plus I plan to contact a few companies that may be a buyer. Remember 45-50 hours is invested in each of these street rods. Each one is screwed down in a display case and never exposed to dust. The Hamilton Collection is mass produced, compare to the ones I have that are one of one. Most of the ones I have are either the popular 3 window Ford coupe or the 5 window Ford coupe. Remember these must have been exceptional for me to buy all 31 of them! PHOTO 3 - We show 4 views of this white roadster. Only the wheels, steering wheel, dash decal, and tires are store bought from a plastic kit. Everything else he either carved in wood, or hand crafted from aluminum, or copper. He fabricated the entire suspension. Your bid must be over $150. Again the photos do not do it justice. You can see the actual 4 spark plugs, and the wires to the distributor. Engine is a modified Model A Miller racing dual carb 4 cylinder engine. The detail is nothing short of unbelievable. You see the fan belt, spark plug wires to the coil. The screens in the carbs. All hand done! To do this all on this small scale is nothing short of amazing! This is the only street rod we will auction this week. Depending on the top selling bid will determine if I will auction any others. I own 31 total and all are different. He started back in 2009 making them. He has no plans to make any more due to his age and health. My plan is to keep a few. The winner will also get a photo showing the builder Ron Osmun signing the card that will go with this street rod verifying he built it. I did ask Ron what he did for a living prior to retiring and he said he worked at a papermill. In all my years of going to car shows etc I have never seen such detail on a hand crafted car model. I showed it to two local car collectors and both thought it was either a Franklin or Danbury mint car diecast car!. They could not believe it was all hand built. SIGHTS OF HALLOWEEN - In recent years decorations for Halloween are starting to get as big as Christmas. In Photo 4 below I show some of these decorations I have spotted in my area.
