Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 10-14-2009
GREAT DETAIL ON A DOCUMENT FOR A CAR
At a recent car show I attended, there were several impressive one-of-a-kind cars on display.
Photo 1 - These two photos show a 1947 Bentley Convertible with its classic lines. It clearly shows how the Bentley, even back 40-50 years, was a distinguished automobile and only affordable by a select few. The top photo shows a 3/4 front view of this fine automobile. Note how the door opens from the front and the doorjamb area appears to be all chrome or polished stainless. The lower photo shows a close up of the Bentley logo mounted in the rear bumper.
Photo 2 - We show the trunk that like some of the other exotic cars in the day included special suitcases to compliment the trunk.
Photo 3 - At the same event I spotted an Austin Healy Sprite Mark 1. Nicely displayed in a frame was this official looking document that provided accurate detail on the Austin Healy. It listed the car number, engine number, built dates, key number, options, etc. I was impressed with the format that they used. It shows they care about the history of the car.
NEW PRODUCT
Photo 4 - We just got this popular decal in TWO sizes. Part #8000 is the perfect size for the Turbo Buicks. The new smaller size is perfect for smaller mirrors on newer cars and motorcycles.
1984-1987 Turbo Regal - "OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE LOSING"
OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR DECALS
Here's a clever idea designed by a friend who works at the GM Corvette plant in Kentucky. This outside mirror decal gives the appearance of the words being etched into the mirror. It's designed to appear similar to the wording GM etched in the stock mirror on the passenger's outside mirror. It is a simple application to affix near the bottom of any outside driver's side mirror.
This clever saying "OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE LOSING" will sure bring a chuckle to anyone close enough to see it. Even though it's subtle, it catches your eye. This was a real hit among the various turbo racers at the GS Nationals.
This unique decal is available in two sizes: 4" x 5/8" and 3" x 1/2", as shown in the photos. The other photo shows it on an actual mirror. Since it's available in two sizes, it gives an option for placement on cars or motorcycles.
Part #8000 looks good on regular size mirrors, such as those found on Turbo Buicks. Part #8001 is smaller and looks good on smaller mirrors, like those found on older cars and motorcycles.
Each letter is diecut in a light gray self-adhesive material which gets transferred onto the mirror. (NOTE - Only the diecut letters are affixed to the mirror.)
A clever addition to any Turbo Regal or motorcycle mirror.
8000 - 1984-1987 Turbo Regal -
"OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE LOSING" Outside Rearview Mirror Decal, 4" x 5/8" - $5
8001 - 1984-1987 Turbo Regal -
"OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE LOSING" Outside Rearview Mirror Decal, 3" x 1/2" - $5

WOULDN'T IT BE NICE
Because of the internet, there is so much information just a few clicks away. You can locate classmates from school, read reviews on every type of car/truck, run a Car Fax to check the history on virtually any car or truck, etc. You can even track down your ancestors and family history.
One thing I think would be nice would be to have some sort of program that gives you several options to trace the history of past cars you have personally owned. Obviously, this could not be strictly by VIN numbers, since most of us never kept records of the VIN numbers. It would have to be your last name and year, make, model, and town you lived in when you owned the vehicle.
I know I would pay money to be able to track down some of the cars I had 30-40 years ago to see if they are still registered anywhere in the country or ended up getting junked.
Maybe that day is not that far off. With over 40 years of car ownership under my belt, I have had over 85 to 100 vehicles registered in my name. As I get older, I find myself thinking about some of them that had special meaning and wonder where they are.
Every time I attend a car show and see a car restored like I use to own, I often wonder if it could be one of mine from years ago or did it end up getting crushed for its salvage value.
I am sure there are probably some of my readers that are around my age that have the same thoughts.
COMING SOON CHRISTMAS SPECIALS
We are now compiling products that we will have on Christmas Special. Watch for a complete listing very soon.
"LOW FUEL" WARNING UNIT OPTION - NOW AVAILABLE
We finally have the "LOW FUEL" Warning unit available, Part #7244. This will only fit the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals that have the analog dash cluster. The price is just $43.95. We actually put one in that 720-mile Grand National we recently sold, and it worked great.
This option is very easy to install. It originally was a Riviera option. For whatever reason, it never was Turbo Regal option, even though all the 1984-1987 Regal analog dash clusters have the notation of "LOW FUEL" as one of the non-working idiot lights on the left side of the dash. This new kit has two features. The first feature is it will light up when the gas level falls below a quarter of a tank. When it gets very close to empty the LOW FUEL light will blink.
See copy below for more details.
1984-1987 Regal (Including Turbo Models) with Factory Analog Dash Only -
"LOW FUEL" WARNING INDICATOR UNIT
The one option GM partially forgot! If you look at the instrument panel in a factory analog dash, just below the left turn signal light, you can see the words "LOW FUEL." This option was provided for, but GM never offered it on the Regal. However, in the mid 1980s, Buick offered a "LOW FUEL" Warning as an option, Code "U41" in their Riviera models.
The Regals, including the Turbo Regals, share the same exact analog dash cluster.
We have the circuit board, complete with the light socket, to make this function in the 1984-1987 Buick Regals. Installation is all plug and play; nothing gets cut. Each unit comes with easy-to-follow directions.
This new "LOW FUEL" Warning Indicator is even better than the GM original unit. The light for "LOW FUEL" will come on at a point below a quarter of a tank of gas. But with our unit, when the gas tank gets almost depleted, the "LOW FUEL" circuit light will also blink.
This unit is made by the same source that did our 1984-1987 Turbo Regal - LED Analog Dash Lights (7) Kit, Part #7234. This is also a nice option to add and it is easy to install. Since the labor is basically the same, we recommend you install the LED lights and this Low Fuel Warning unit at the same time.
An excellent upgrade for any factory analog dash.

UNIQUE LOCAL EVENT TO US
Although not a Turbo Buick related car show event, this one local to us event deserves a special mention. The date is Sunday, October 18th, 2009 from 9 am until 3:30. Location is the Warminster Community Park, which is now part of the old closed down Johnsville Airbase. This is where we held several of our major Car Shows events in the early 1990s.
What makes this show remarkable are several things. The Early Ford V8 Club hosts it and this is the 40th year of this show. That means they did their first one back in 1969!
Another unique thing related to judging is none of their club members are eligible to win! They have Awards of Excellence for the Top 80 entries!
Frankly, I think it is nothing short of remarkable that they have conducted a car show now for forty years and over that time have made whatever adjustments they needed to do to keep it going. Since this event is in my area, I know it has been held in different locations over the years. Not that many years ago it was held in Warrington on the grounds of the one of the last drive-in movie theatres, which is now a location for Lowes and Target stores.
The event happens rain or shine, but we all know any type of bad weather hurts attendance.
For more info, contact John Murphy 215-674-6700 days or 267-716-555 nights/weekends.
Since it is early V8 Ford sponsored, maybe I will see a 1949-1950 Ford business coupe for sale. That's the one reason I usually go! Also, represents one of the last car show events in our area of the season.
If you do go, the entrance to this event is off Bristol Road by Hatboro Road, which is behind the old airbase! Weather permitting; this event is well worth attending, especially if you reside in a 50-mile radius.
