MINI CONTEST –
Here is the information about our Mini Contest this week. Tell me what the function is of the plastic Pepsi machine in Photo 1.
No submitted answer will be considered until after 3 pm this Wednesday September 25, 2019. This way every subscriber has an equal chance. We will only accept one answer per subscriber.
Here are the clues:
PHOTO 1 – We show two plastic antique toy items. One is a replica of the old Sunoco gas pump and the other is a slightly larger one that looks like an older Pepsi machine from years ago. Tell me what the function is of the plastic Pepsi machine. The one clue is that it has a different function than the smaller Sunoco plastic gas pump. You must email me [email protected] your guess. We have a prize for the first correct answer received after 3pm Wednesday, September 25, 2019.
REPORT FROM THE EAST COAST BUICK REGIONALS LAST WEEKEND –
The weather was picture perfect and the temperatures made it feel like a typical hot summer day. The crowds came Saturday to race and show their pride and joy Buicks.
The Magna group and Northeast GS/GN club did an excellent job for putting on this event for their 23rd year. The trophies were unique and the winners will proudly display them. The location is perfect, just off I-95 in Maryland, making it easy for much of the northeast owners to get there in just a few hours depending on traffic.
There was even a good number of the older GS Buicks with several vendors that cater to that earlier Buick market. I saw very few parts for sale related to the Turbo Regals.
Several car owners sold some parts out of their trunk that they no longer needed, but there was not much to buy that would be NOS or looking like new. This is typical now that the cars are over 30 years old. Jason came down from Canada, an 11-hour trip in one direction. He set up next to me. A lot of our tagged and bagged items went quickly, as they usually do.
There was a number of very high-quality Turbo Regals in attendance. I would gladly make room for several in my pole building. I did see at least 2 of my cars that we sold years ago, including one super mint Grand National that the NY owner went to Arizona to buy. This Grand National was outstanding from any angle.
A lot of owners with show cars are now setting up really cool displays in their trunk. What is nice is that many of them have the optional 9-piece trunk kit or the 9-piece trunk kit with the embroidered logo on the inside trunk lid or on the spare tire cover.
Photo 2 – The top left photo shows a late-1980s GM option, the bag phone sitting on top of the cup holder console we sell. The top right photo shows an early Chevy pick-up truck that has an 1986-1987 Turbo Regal drive train. The bottom left photo shows a very rare NOS GM sunshade kit that was for a G-body T-Tops car. The bottom right photo shows one of the aftermarket metal under-the-hood pads that is better looking than the GM version.
PHOTO 3 – The top left photo shows a 1987-1989 LeSabre T-Type. It has been fitted with a supercharged Bonneville 3800 engine under the hood. The LeSabre T-Types never had that option. The top right photo shows one of the very neat displays laid out in the trunk of a 1986 T-Type. I loved the metal logo sign. The bottom left photo shows a redone T-Type wheel that was on a Designer Series 1986 T-Type. The bottom right photo shows this impressive 1986 Design Series T-Type that had the redone T wheels on it.
PHOTO 4 – The top left photo shows a very rare in the GM box burgundy dash pad and in front the dash pad is two 1986-1987 Grand Nationals wheels. The one wheel was brand new. The top right photo shows 2 different sets of early GS optional wheels. The bottom left photo shows a custom gauge cluster that the owner appears to have mad from cutting a upper dash pad and flipping it upside down and installing under the dash. The bottom right photo shows what every Turbo Regal drive dreads when they get pulled over.!
TWO COLLECTIBLES FOR SALE THAT ARE NOT TURBO REGAL RELATED –
I figure this time of the year is perfect with Halloween just a few weeks away. Since I have 3 of the full-size 5-foot store display Maxine figurines, I will sell 2 of them. Maxine is the cartoon figure that the one line of greeting cards Hallmark sells is based on. She is dressed in real clothes and the limbs are totally bendable. Her head is plastic and swivels. Maxine can be made to sit down. I will not ship. Email me [email protected] for price and photos. I also have her dog Floyd available. Both have been in a smoke-free house for over 10 years. Extremely rare.
I also have a plastic approximately 3-foot high Star Wars character R2 D2 cooler rolls on wheels. Pepsi had them made years ago. It is also like brand new. I don’t believe it has ever been used. This is great for a man cave or your garage to hold ice for drinks, etc. I will not ship. You must be local. Email [email protected] for price and photos.
TWO THINGS THAT MAKE LITTLE SENSE TO ME –
One was a small classified ad in our local newspaper. The ad read in part, “Two cemetery plots for $1500 good location.” Assuming you are buried under 6 feet of U.S. soil, what meaning would location play? I don’t think the person that is now deceased really cares or is concerned about location.
My only real concern I would have in that situation is, which location am I heading?
Another thing that seems a bit odd to me is a sign above a local ice machine. The sign reads in part, “Our ice is more healthier than your homemade ice.” What does this ice company have, a special source they tap into for the water that they use to make the ice?
MORE PAST CAR MEMORIES –
When Darrell turned 16, we had a good friend of ours put together a 1967 Lemans for him to drive to school. Back then we were very much into the GTO business. The Lemans featured mostly original paint. Unfortunately, one time driving home he dozed off on our street and hit one of the guard rails.
The car was basically totaled. Just a few months earlier I had sold the 1968 GTO coupe that Eileen drove every day. It was a well-optioned GTO with tilt, wood wheel, Ralley II wheels, hidden headlights and a Hurst Dual Gate shifter. The car still had mostly its original paint and had no rust issues.
I wrote about Darrell’s misfortune in that month’s GTO newsletter and said it would be nice if I could repurchase Eileen’s 1968 GTO for him. I quickly got a response from the owner of Eileen’s 1968 GTO and he was willing to sell it back to me for Darrell to restore the body and paint.
This was an extremely nice gesture and Eileen’s car got a second chance in our lives as Darrell took possession. He would paint the it a metallic dark red and the GTO really looked good. Just like his Dad, cars become expendable and then he sold the 1968 GTO to someone in nearby town. Once in a while I would spot his old 1968 GTO in nearby town to us.
In recent times, there are TV shows showing some of the heartwarming reunions between a long lost car and returning it to the father or brother that owned that car when it was new.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
IN CLOSING –
The weather has been super the last several weeks in our immediate area. Unfortunately, for those in the Houston area, there has once again been epic rain falls in a short period of time.
