HAVE YOU SEEN THIS TYPE OF MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTER? -
Have you seen any of the new mini forms of battery jump starter kits? Some of these new versions weigh less than one pound and can replace jumper boxes that weigh anywhere from 10 lbs to 28 lbs.
We are currently looking at a Multi-Function Jump Starter Kit that offer several other functions; jump starting, digital products charging and LED lighting. We will be adding it to our product line soon, part #7629.
This new version can also retain a full charge, even if it sits for six months or longer. This mini charger has multi-functions and is not much bigger than a typical smart phone. This battery pack or module measures 6-1/2″ inches high by 3″ wide by 1″ deep. Weighing in at less than 9 ounces, it still packs a wallop.
One company has reached out to us to become a distributor of their product. I bought three of the Multi-Function Jump Starter Kits to personally test and get some feedback among local friends. The results have all been positive and we already have people wanting to place their order.
The timing of this product was perfect. Last week we showed the 1986 Limited Regal that had been sitting undisturbed in a junkyard since 2008, according to the inspection sticker on the windshield. Since it sits in a junkyard that does not allow customers to walk around, the keys were still in the ignition with the trunk key. The battery was still hooked up under the hood and everything was intact. I had removed the ECM, but otherwise everything was still under the hood. I initially planned to go back this past Saturday and get some of the dash and interior pieces.
Earlier last week I got the three Multi-function Jumper Starter kits I had ordered. Each kit came in its own case. The kit consisted of jumper cables to jump start 12-volt systems, and four other adapters that plug into a USB port on the side of the battery pack. These adapters are formatted for four different outlets used on various digital products. This module or battery pack actually has two USB ports. What is nice is all four adapters are fused into one lead, making it very compact and less likely that you would ever lose any of the four adapters.
I went back to this junkyard earlier last week with this new light-weight jumper box. It is one thing to jump a car or truck when you have left the headlights on overnight, but it’s another thing to try and jump a vehicle that the battery has virtually been dead since 2008. I figured that would be an extreme test to see for myself how good this product would work.
So, I go over to the junkyard and explain to the owner of the yard what I wanted to do. It turns out he has two similar jumper units himself and says they are simply amazing. He has used it to jump start some of his diesel trucks. He paid about $165 each for his. Some of the accessories on the ones he had looked exactly like some of the accessories on the units I bought.
I trudged back to the black 1986 Regal and opened the hood. This is the same car we showed in last week’s Inner Circle. I set the module on top of the battery and hooked the two jumper cables to the terminals on the battery. Beside having the side post terminal, this battery had the extra top post terminals as seen in the first photo. I then plugged the other end into the module. It can only go in one direction. I made sure I got a good contact and within seconds I heard the buzzer indicating I had the key in the ignition! I was amazed. I turned the key on and the idiot lights came on. Then I cranked it. The car cranked like it would start. I was immediately impressed. It actually cranked like I had put a new battery in the car! The car did not start - probably because of other issues, but cranking was not an issue!
The main function of this kit is to jump start any 12-volt car, truck, boat or motorcycle, whether it be gas or diesel powered.
Another function of this kit is it has a single emergency LED light that can either be on solid, or flash, or set for SOS.
The third function is it has four adapters, which will charge almost any cell phone, laptop or other digital device that any of the four adapters will fit. The other end plugs into a USB port on the unit itself. It has two USB ports.
I was even able to charge my old-style flip phone with one of the adapters. My wife has a Samsung Smart phone and it works on those phones as well. They claim it will charge a typical cell phone faster than a normal wall charger.
It has a five blue light bar indicator, so you know how much “juice” you have available. You can jump start a typical 12-volt car or truck even if the “juice” is down to just two of the five blue lights showing. It does not matter if it’s a gas or diesel engine. Good to use for boats, motorcycles, whatever has a 12-volt system.
The company claims you can jump 25-30 cars on a full charge. The unit will stay fully charged for six months or longer if it is not used! It has been known to stay fully charged for ten months of not being used. However, it is recommended that it be charged every six months.
It shuts down automatically if it does not detect a load. There is no on or off switch! It can be charged with a car cigarette lighter (it comes with a plug to do this) or can be done through the supplied AC adapter and plug into a regular wall electrical outlet. Typically it takes 4 hours to fully charge the unit, if it is completely dead. This unit puts out 12000 mAh, which stands for milli-Amp hours. The model number of this unit is T6! How about that for a coincidence?
I then tested it on another dead Regal I have at the house, which has been sitting undisturbed since 2010. That battery was also as dead as they come. I hooked the unit up to the battery, and it cranked like I had parked the car the day before.
The unit comes in a carrying case complete with directions.
I see a wide market for this product.
It would be a handy charger for any small car dealership that almost without fail has to jump a car once in a while. If you do any kind of camping or biking, this is something you should take with you.
Having something that weighs less than one pound that will do the trick beats balancing a 15-to-25 pound jumper box on the car fender! I have one of those old-style battery jumper boxes and it weighs 27 pounds!
We have a special introductory price of $99.95 each. If you buy 2, we will give you free shipping in the U.S.A. They come partially charged from the factory. They have a one-year Manufacturer’s Warranty. It has circuit protection, fuse protection, and anti-reverse plug for the jumper cables. Each one is tested at the factory, from what I am told.
You have to be careful jump starting any 12-volt car or truck. If the vehicle fails to start in two or three tries, you need to disconnect the cables from the battery. The cables can get warm, which is normal.
We want to hear from you on this product. Email me your questions/thoughts/comments. You can also email me if you want to order one. These are not yet on our website - [email protected]
NOTE - DEALERS WANTED - We are also interested in wholesale dealers to market this charger. Email me for information - [email protected]
PHOTO 1 - The top photo shows the 2008 inspection sticker on the black 1986 Regal Limited that I performed the test on. The bottom photo shows the module hooked up to the battery under the hood. You can clearly see how small and compact the unit actually is.
PHOTO 2 - In the top photo we show the idiot lights as they came on. In the bottom photo we show the entire kit. The kit includes a harness with 4 different adapters for electronic devices with a USB port at the end, a pair of battery jumper cables, cigarette lighter charger, and wall outlet charger. Last, but not least, the actual power module (battery). We did not picture the User Manual and the carrying case, which comes with each kit.
BREAKING NEWS ABOUT THE MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTER KIT -
From our initial shipment of these Multi-Function Jump Starter Kits, I sold one immediately to a local friend who works at a small used car lot.
Every Tuesday they go to one of the major dealerships in the area that does sealed bids on cars that they don’t want to retail. He took the unit with him knowing that some of the cars usually have a weak battery and won't start.
The night before he charged his phone with the unit. He noticed it charged his phone far quicker than when he would charge it in his car.
At the dealership he showed it to the Service Manager that handles the auction cars. The service manager did not believe that something that basically fits in your pocket would jump start a car.
It turns out one of the cars in the bidding was a Subaru and it needed a jump. My buddy gave him the unit and said go try it. The Service Manager also took over his huge jumper box.
Within seconds, the Subaru started right up off the Multi-Function Jump Starter Kit.
Later another car, a Thunderbird, was also a non start and again the Service Manager carried his jumper box as a back up. This second car started using the same unit.
A third car required a jump. This time the Service Manager didn't bother to carry his battery jumper box. He just took our unit out of his pocket and started the third car, all within a few hours time.
When I saw my friend later that day, the indicator still showed all 5 lights still on. So, it still maintained a full charge after charging his phone and jump starting 3 cars.
Needless to say, my friend knows he will have some buyers for this unit next week when he returns to bid on more cars.
T-TOPS SUNSHADES -
Our version of the T-Tops sunshades is now in production locally. See new parts heading in this issue for full details and pricing. At this time, these are only available in grey.
PHOTO 3 - Shows our new T-Tops sunshades in grey. Our design is light weight and the panels are notched so they lock into place under the molding on the T-Tops. Once installed, they look just like all of the other versions that are being offered.
FLOOR MATS OR CARPET SAVERS -
Most car owners refer to them as floor mats, yet GM calls them carpet savers.
Whatever you call them, we want to make you sure you are aware that our supplier, ACC, only makes the original format for the front floor mats for our company. In other words, the driver’s side has a single cut out on the left side of the mat only. The mats that are slotted on both sides of the driver’s mat is probably what was copied from the accessory mats that GM offered over the counter.
It was over 15 years ago that we supplied ACC with an original set from one of the low-mileage Grand Nationals we had to make the pattern that we wanted for our customers.
Buick never embroidered any logos in the floor mats as an option in the Turbo Regals, but it has become popular among customers today to customize the mats this way.
We offer four different embroidered versions for front black floor mats, as do most other suppliers. Our part numbers are #6511, #6883, #7162, or #7168.
However, Buick did do optional embroidered floor mats for the 1987 -1989 LeSabre T-Types. They had the T-Type wording embroidered on the front floor mats as an option. Unfortunately, those cars were front wheel drive and the floor mats are too wide to fit properly in the 1984-1987 Regal rear wheel drive cars.
PHOTO 4 - We show our correct format front floor mats with the optional Power Six embroidered logo on them. Note how the driver’s side floor mats has the single cut out on the left side only.

FEED BACK ON OUR DUAL FAN KIT -
We recently got some good feedback from one of our customers who purchased the new dual fan set up from us. A few weeks ago we introduced our dual fan kit, complete with the plug-and-play harness to make the installation complete. We recently heard from one of our customers, Tim Myers, who bought one of the first ones. He resides in steamy hot humid Louisiana. He is a mechanic and has a water temperature gauge mounted direct to the intake. It’s connected by a metal line, not electric. He also has a Scanmaster. He runs a 160 degree thermostat and a G-Body Parts radiator. Prior to this his car would run at a constant 200 degrees on a typical 90 degree summer day. With this new dual fan kit installed, it dropped to 180 degrees with no other changes.
He says the dual fans cool down quicker and turn off quicker. He used the bottom bracket off the original fan and flipped it over to make it work. He mounted the bracket even on the bottom of the new fan housing. He said he did have to notch the new dual fan housing ever so slightly on the one side to clear his power steering gear in order to center the dual fan setup. He made new brackets for the top to secure it to the original factory mounting points. He says both fans come on at the same time. He says the fan seats nicely against the radiator. The fans also do not run as long when the car is shut off in the heat. He also claims his air conditioner cools the car interior better.
He says it’s the best $200 he spent on his Turbo Regal.
Check out the complete kit on our website - part #7607.

RUSSELL STAINLESS BRAKE HOSES NOW IN STOCK -
The popular Russell stainless brake hoses, part #7218 are back in stock. We have filled our back orders and have a few sets available. Replacing your front rubber brake hoses is one tremendous benefit that is an easy upgrade to do.
VEHICLES FOR SALE -
From time to time, whenever we spot an unusual or an exceptional car or truck for sale, or one we have for sale, we will put a blurb in our weekly Inner Circle. Also any cars that our customers have for sale will be featured here and you can see their car with photos on our website as well. In this category we will run the descriptions for two to three weeks and, if there is no interest in that particular vehicle, it will be deleted the following week. Any new vehicles that we add will appear first, so the oldest listing would be at the end of this section. If any of these vehicles perk your interest, email me personally - [email protected] - for more information and photos.

1955-1957 THUNDERBIRD FACTORY HARDTOP - FOR SALE -
A local friend of mine has his factory hardtop for a 1955-1957 Thunderbird hardtop for sale. It is for the non-porthole version. It’s in really nice condition. It can be crated and shipped by truck. Priced around $2,200 or best offer. Contact me - [email protected] - for more info and photos.
1980s NISSAN 280 ZX PARTS -
This junkyard we mentioned earlier has a fairly complete T-Top 280 ZX Nissan in the yard. If you know of anyone looking for any of those parts let me know. I do not know the exact year of the car. [email protected]
1987 GRAND NATIONAL HARDTOP - FOR SALE -
Recently a 1987 Grand National appeared in our local area Craigs list. In the description, the seller mentioned he bought it from us back in the year 2000. At the time the car had 221,000 miles on it. It now has 228,000. I called him about his car.
In researching it, I discovered it was the fifth car we sold back in 2000 of the 44 we sold that year. Only two others were cheaper than this one. I gave him a stack of records with the car, which was a one owner. He has driven it less than 7,000 miles in the 14 years he has owned it.
The car still runs out very good and the transmission shifts nice and firm. It does need a headliner and a heater core, since he bypassed the heater core due to it starting to leak. He has the car advertised for more on Craigs List. Since this was one of our cars, it will have the front braces done and the missing body bushings done. The Grand National is fairly priced at $9,995. You can email me - [email protected], if you are interested in this car. The car is located about 35 minutes from our shop location.
The car is almost 100% original with the following exceptions:
- Kirban 140 MPH speedometer...the originals were 85 MPH units (a joke)...I still have the original 85MPH unit somewhere in the attic I believe.
- Kirban console gage holder with an oil pressure and temp gage in it...nothing cut up!
- Pioneer CD player...I have the original stereo and nothing was cut to install the radio. Still has the original power antenna and it works fine!
- Kirban designed oil breather for the valve cover...the originals used to leak so this one is an improved design.
Otherwise the car is all stock, un-abused and unmolested. Jump-in, turn the key and it starts right up. Cruise the car as is or you have an absolutely solid platform for a full restoration. Most of the GNs out there are either mega-buck cars, rust buckets or racecars that have been cut up and flogged...an original fully functional non-rusty car is hard to find.
Clean PA antique title and Antique tags...cheap to insure and doesn't require PA inspection.
This car can be bought for $9,995. His ad on Craigs list has it priced higher, but I told him I felt this is a more realistic price. If you are interested, contact me - [email protected] - for more information. The big thing is it’s only a two-owner car that has had exceptional maintenance over the years.
TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -

VACUUM BRAKE CONVERSION UPDATE -
Over the last 2-3 weeks, our part #7625 - the 1985-1987 Turbo Regal Vacuum Brake Conversion Kit (which includes a correct vacuum brake pedal) has been a very popular seller for us. Fortunately I have been able to get a good supply of the brake pedals.
UPGRADED LOWER STEERING SHAFTS -
It is becoming more difficult for me to find these upgraded later model GM lower steering shafts that I then get modified, Part #7674. I have another batch of them currently getting done, but after that I currently have none sitting in reserve. So, if you are thinking about going with one of these upgraded lower GM steering shafts #7674 its best to buy it soon to avoid disappointments.
You have to keep in mind as time goes on specific parts related to older cars become increasingly more difficult to find. Not only that, but it gets tougher for me to find parts in the winter to keep parts in the supply chain. Not to mention that fact I am getting older!
NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -
1978-1988 G-BODY with Factory T-Tops (including Buick Regal) -
FACTORY T-TOPS CUSTOM-MADE SUNSHADES (2) SET
One of the most effective methods to eliminate the sun from fading the interior on a T-Tops G-body car is to install a set of sunshades that block out the sun light.
While several different versions exist, once installed what you see in your car all looks the same.
Our supplier uses grey factory headliner material.
Our T-Tops sunshades are notched to seat under the T-Tops molding trim. This format eliminates having to make major adjustments from inside the car. This is a very light-weight design that not only keeps the bright sunlight out, but allows the air conditioner to be more efficient.
Each set of sunshades come with easy-to-follow directions showing the proper placement, since each piece is custom made to fit each T-Top.
Another great interior restoration item.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
304 STAINLESS STEEL ONE-PIECE 3″ DOWN PIPE &
CUSTOM ALUMINIZED TEST PIPE KIT
This one-piece 3″ down pipe will work with any factory-style exhaust Turbo housing. You have to remove the exhaust elbow so this will bolt up to the turbo exhaust housing.
It has an internal wastegate and, unlike most of the other one-piece 3″ down pipes, the internal wastegate is serviceable if needed. You have to modify the side of the turbo shield if you plan to re-use the stock turbo shield. This 3″ down pipe does have a threaded port on it to accept an air sensor or O2 sensor if needed. A plug is included if you do not have to use this port.
This 3" one piece 304 stainless steel down pipe is mandrel bent and will clear the stock inner fender and firewall. Because of the age of these cars it is recommended you have fairly new motor mounts and transmission mount so clearances stay consistent. This down pipe is slightly longer than the stock down pipe, so you have to use the custom 12″ aluminized test pipe that comes in this kit. The test pipe has the correct 4 bolt flange on it to bolt up to the factory style Y pipe. You will not be able to use a catalytic converter unless you find one that has a 3" diameter opening and is only 12″ long.
Kit comes with hardware to secure the down pipe to the Turbo. No gaskets are required.
Gains on a typical stock application in a quarter mile with no other changes are 2-3 mph and 2/10ths in a quarter mile.
This basic design has been popular for many years. This is the latest version.
Kit is drop shipped from our supplier.
NOTE - We recommend this kit be installed by a qualified auto mechanic.
A nice performance upgrade to compliment any other performance modifications you make.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
DUAL FAN CONVERSION KIT and
CUSTOM-MADE PLUG-AND-PLAY HARNESS
We offer three options to upgrade the factory single electric fan on a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal to a dual fan format. Each fan has a 12" diameter sweep. There are no clearance issues between the radiator and the factory intercooler shroud. The unit is 3-1/2" deep. The overall width of the unit is 26" and the length is 16".
The complete kit includes a brand new Intrepid dual fan and a custom-made plug-and-play harness. This harness is specific to the Intrepid dual fan.
One of the beneficial upgrades to make to provide better cooling is to install a dual fan set up to replace the 25+-year-old single electric fan. The factory Buick fan relay cannot safely sustain the full load of dual electric fans. That is why it’s advisable to install a supplemental relay system.
This custom-made plug-and-play harness is specially designed to make the conversion easy. This plug-and-play harness consists of two sealed relays. The relays are both energized by the factory fan relay in your car, reducing the circuit load on the factory relay and permitting full coolant fan control without the risk of overload. The fans are both powered at high speed when cooling is commanded via factory low speed coolant fan control through the ECM. This system assures proper load through the relays with proper power distribution.
This kit plugs into the factory fan connector, unlike other harnesses that require you to cut off the factory connector. The factory connector is entirely reliable and should not be cut.
The plug-and-play harness is made in the U.S.A. and comes with easy-to-follow directions with photos.
We offer 3 options. The first option is for the entire conversion kit, which includes a new Dodge Intrepid dual fan kit and the special custom-made plug-and-play harness. The second option is for the dual fan only. The last option is just for the custom-made plug-and-play harness.
NOTE - We recommend installation be done by a qualified mechanic.
IMPORTANT NOTE - You have to custom make brackets to mount the dual fan housing so you can secure this to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal radiator core support at the top and bottom. You also have to cut off the original mounting tabs on the side of this dual fan housing since they do not get used. There is a link on the Turbo Buick forum with photos that shows what you have to do. Basically you have to cut off the 2 plastic mounting tabs on both sides of the housing and fabricate some small piece of angle iron to secure it to the original top brackets and the bracket at the bottom of the core support.
This dual fan set up is for a Dodge Intrepid and is the one that most 1986-1987 Turbo Regal owners have used for this modification. It is also the one that will plug into the custom-made plug-and-play harness we offer. Be sure to click on the link below so you fully understand what you need to do to modify the dual fan housing to attach to the radiator bracket and core support.
NOTE - Here is a link to the Turbo Buick Forum. It explains what you have to do to mount the Dual Fan Conversion Kit in the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/threads/ramchargers-fans-intrepid-fans-those-whove-done-it-please-chime-in.380509/

ALWAYS LOOKING FOR IDEAS -
If you have any product ideas that would fit our Turbo Buick market that you would like to see available, email me direct - [email protected]
ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -
Got any Turbo Buick parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - [email protected]. Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.
NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING -
Hope to see many of you at the East Coast Regionals in Cecil County Dragway on Saturday, September 20, 2014. We will have some of the Multi-Function Jump Starter Kits with us.

TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -
If you have a tip or a discovery that you found that works on your Turbo Regal, drop us an email giving us the details so we can pass the info on to our readers. Remember, even with my knowledge, I don’t know it all. Simply email me at - [email protected]
TR-6 HIGH TECH IGNITION SYSTEM - NOW IN STOCK -
