THE IMPACT OF THE VIRUS -
As of this writing it appears some states will soon be opening up with Phase 1. I never really experienced cabin fever until this virus hit the U.S. Days all seem to run together with no conception when it is the weekend. While free time seems to be rampant, I find myself having writer’s block. It’s an experience I can’t recall having very often when it comes to the weekly Inner Circle.
I can’t complain, as everyone is in a similar situation and some worse off than others. I feel for those that reside in apartments in the cities, especially once the weather turns warmer.
NOW AVAILABLE TWO NEW REPRODUCTION 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL DECALS -
These two new reproduction decals are now available and in stock. They are only being sold as a set since both would be on every original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal.
The one is the small “Air Cleaner” decal that was on the top half of the metal air cleaner housing. Part of the wording on this slightly larger than a postage stamp decal gave the AC number for the paper air cleaner that was inside the air cleaner assembly. It was usually attached to the top half of the air cleaner housing towards the driver’s fender. I am going by memory since there has been zero car shows this year to verify this against my memory!
The other decal is the “Recall” decal that the Buick Service Department would have stuck on the core support towards the driver’s side once the recall was fixed.
One Recall that most turbo owners would remember is the one where the brake switch was recalled. The replacement brake switch had a grey top whereas the original brake switch top was black. The issue was that the original brake switch could leak. The Campaign number for the Brake Recall Notice was 87C13. This Recall was not noted until the late summer of 1990. More information on recalls will come in future Inner Circles.
The other Buick Turbo Regal recall that I can remember, was the e-prom. I believe this only involved the 1987 Turbo Regal.
We will do more research later and see if I have any papers showing more information on these two recalls and if any others were issued.
Having leased our 1987 Grand National new in the fall of 1987, I do remember these two recalls. Both recalls had no cost to the car owner. Matter of fact, on many of the Turbo Regals I was buying back then I would have O’Neil run the VIN number to see if the recall was ever done for the brake switch. In some cases, if it was not done and seller had bought a switch, I was able to get a free brake switch from the Parts Department.
To my knowledge, there was no exact placement where the Service Department would place the Recall decal once it was dated noting it was complete. They would fill in the number associated with the Recall Notice.
PHOTO 1 – The photo to the left we show both these reproduction decals, the Air Cleaner decal and the Brake Recall decal. The photo to the right we show 2 different postcards that Buick dealers would have sent to the owners alerting them of this critical issue. The notice is dated September 11, 1990. REGARDING BUICK CAMPAIGNS AND BUICK DEALER SERVICE BULLETINS –
From what I understand, Campaigns refers to the recalls Buick would have issued for the various models. Whereas “Service Bulletins” where issues that mechanics became aware of so if the certain model came into the dealership they knew what the remedy was to fix it.
I have at least a 5-inch-high stack of original 1985-1988 Buick Campaigns and Buick Service Bulletins to sort through to pull out the ones that refer to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal engine code 7 models. This original material I have was a good resource for information. I would buy up any 1986-1987 Buick literature back in the early 1990s at the GS Nationals, so I would have research material to verify everything.
Again, the two widely known recalls I remember are the e-prom and, of course, the brake switch on the powermaster system. What strikes me is I have never seen anything about addressing the fact the power windows were so very slow! Watch for more information in future Inner Circles.
Probably the best-known Buick Dealer Service Bulletin was the 12-page Bulletin concerning the limited-production-run GNX. It provided all the information related to the parts that made up the GNX with part numbers. It is dated Nov ’88 listed as Bulletin 87-0-5. It is something every GNX owner should have in their collection.
BUICK PRODUCT INFORMATION –
The Buick Product Information was also done in the same format as the Campaigns and Service Bulletins. Each would have a Bulletin number and a date. This was the format Buick used to discontinue a certain thing on a determined date or announce something new on a determined date. Two of the most widely known Bulletins related to the Turbo Regal is the one announcing the new WE4 Turbo-T and the one stating you could no longer order a black 1987 Turbo-T Regal with the WO2 black-out package. This was done to eliminate confusion and to create a market for the newly released WE4 model.
So, in quick review, to my knowledge Buick had 3 different formats each in their own special color so dealers where kept informed. I am sure today the internet has replaced most, if not all of this paper trail that was widely used in the 1980s.

VIEW FROM OUR HOUSE –
Our neighbor has had a friend who owns one of those custom built tiny houses on a trailer. Every school year they park it on her property. The two pictures below show the tiny house being moved to its new location since the school year has ended due to the virus. I talked to her husband about the cost of the tiny house. He said they generally cost between $40,000 and $45,000. He bought this tiny house for half that price and finished the inside himself.
PHOTO 3 – The top left and top right photo show the tiny house being moved off the property. The bottom left photo shows the neighbor’s house which sits at the bottom of our driveway. It is one of the houses that in the 1940s and 1950s you could buy from Sears in a kit and if you had the proper skills assemble it yourself. It’s kind of like what Ikea the furniture company does today, but on a bigger scale! If I recall, Sears was one of the first department stores to offer a charge card. As a youngster the Sears store in our area at one time was next to Hurst’s location in Abington, PA. The bottom right photo shows the remains of a late 1940s Chevy in the woods on the back edge of our property. One could say it is ready for a major restoration or it is closer to being claimed by the elements. These things are what gives living in the country character that you can’t find in the cities.

The owner of the used car dealership I do work for, has worked out a deal with a local company to do screen printed masks. They are one-ply 50/50 blend (T-shirt material) with raw edges. Two ear slots on each side for one size fits all comfortable custom fit. It does not pull on the ears. Easy to put on and remove when you are out in public. Machine washable. Printed in one color only. (We recommend white which looks the best since all the masks are black). You chose any basic single color for your logo or quote. All masks are black.
Many states will require the wearing of some sort of masks when out in public, this is one you can easily carry in your pocket and use as needed.
PRICING: The minimum is 50 custom printed masks for $400 with your logo or quote. The price includes providing a proof, screen setup, and shipping to any of the 48 states. We can also do smaller quantity, with a custom quote or logo. Contact me for that pricing.
Note: For added protection, these masks fit easily over a disposable surgical mask or a coffee filter can be worn behind the cloth. Coffee filters is one method they recommend on the internet for further protection.

We discovered that Fed Ex will not forward any packages that are sent to the PO Box or to our old address in Plumsteadville. Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use Fed Ex. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

Good news - We now accept Classified Ads in our weekly Inner Circle emails. Over the years several customers have asked about placing an ad in our weekly Inner Circle.
Here are the options and the costs.
Ads can be from any individual or company. It needs to be automotive related, meaning it does not need be specifically Turbo Regal related. It can be for something for sale or something wanted.
Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.
Our weekly Inner Circle reaches over 3,400 members every Wednesday direct to their inbox. The Inner Circle also appears every Wednesday on our website with the related photos. Your ad would be visible to both groups of readers. So, the exposure to your ad is well over 3,200 potential buyers.

REPRODUCTION AIR CLEANER DECAL (1) &
REPRODUCTION BRAKE SWITCH RECALL DECAL (1) SET
We are offering these two decals as a set.
The reproduction Air Cleaner Decal measures 1-5/16″ x 1-1/4″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
It goes on the side of the top portion of the metal factory air cleaner box. There is no precise location but generally can be found on the side towards the driver’s fender.
The reproduction Brake Switch Recall Decal measures 2″ x 1″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
There was no exact placement for where the Service Department would put the Recall decal showing it was completed. Generally, it was put on the core support near the Belt Routing decal. A date was written in along with the other related information, which showed the recall was completed. The recall related to the powermaster brake switch was not issued until the fall of 1990.

Reproduction GRAND NATIONAL FENDER & TRUNK EMBLEMS
We are now offering high-quality reproduction Grand National emblems for the front fenders and trunk lid. All 1986-1987 GNs used three emblems; one on each fender and one on the driver’s side trunk lid. The 1984-1985 GNs only used two emblems; one on each fender.
This striking silver, red, orange and black enamel-like finish emblem measures 5-3/8" x 1-7/8" and comes with a self-adhesive backing.
NOTE - If you need to replace an emblem on your car, it’s best to replace all three at the same time so they all look new.

Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

Part of the wording on this slightly larger than a postage stamp decal gave the AC number for the paper air cleaner that was inside the air cleaner assembly. It was usually attached to the top half of the air cleaner housing towards the driver’s fender. I am going by memory since there has been zero car shows this year to verify this against my memory!
The other decal is the “Recall” decal that the Buick Service Department would have stuck on the core support towards the driver’s side once the recall was fixed.
One Recall that most turbo owners would remember is the one where the brake switch was recalled. The replacement brake switch had a grey top whereas the original brake switch top was black. The issue was that the original brake switch could leak. The Campaign number for the Brake Recall Notice was 87C13. This Recall was not noted until the late summer of 1990. More information on recalls will come in future Inner Circles.
The other Buick Turbo Regal recall that I can remember, was the e-prom. I believe this only involved the 1987 Turbo Regal.
We will do more research later and see if I have any papers showing more information on these two recalls and if any others were issued.
Having leased our 1987 Grand National new in the fall of 1987, I do remember these two recalls. Both recalls had no cost to the car owner. Matter of fact, on many of the Turbo Regals I was buying back then I would have O’Neil run the VIN number to see if the recall was ever done for the brake switch. In some cases, if it was not done and seller had bought a switch, I was able to get a free brake switch from the Parts Department.
To my knowledge, there was no exact placement where the Service Department would place the Recall decal once it was dated noting it was complete. They would fill in the number associated with the Recall Notice.

The photo to the right we show 2 different postcards that Buick dealers would have sent to the owners alerting them of this critical issue. The notice is dated September 11, 1990. REGARDING BUICK CAMPAIGNS AND BUICK DEALER SERVICE BULLETINS –
From what I understand, Campaigns refers to the recalls Buick would have issued for the various models. Whereas “Service Bulletins” where issues that mechanics became aware of so if the certain model came into the dealership they knew what the remedy was to fix it.
I have at least a 5-inch-high stack of original 1985-1988 Buick Campaigns and Buick Service Bulletins to sort through to pull out the ones that refer to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal engine code 7 models. This original material I have was a good resource for information. I would buy up any 1986-1987 Buick literature back in the early 1990s at the GS Nationals, so I would have research material to verify everything.
Again, the two widely known recalls I remember are the e-prom and, of course, the brake switch on the powermaster system. What strikes me is I have never seen anything about addressing the fact the power windows were so very slow! Watch for more information in future Inner Circles.
Probably the best-known Buick Dealer Service Bulletin was the 12-page Bulletin concerning the limited-production-run GNX. It provided all the information related to the parts that made up the GNX with part numbers. It is dated Nov ’88 listed as Bulletin 87-0-5. It is something every GNX owner should have in their collection.
BUICK PRODUCT INFORMATION –
The Buick Product Information was also done in the same format as the Campaigns and Service Bulletins. Each would have a Bulletin number and a date. This was the format Buick used to discontinue a certain thing on a determined date or announce something new on a determined date. Two of the most widely known Bulletins related to the Turbo Regal is the one announcing the new WE4 Turbo-T and the one stating you could no longer order a black 1987 Turbo-T Regal with the WO2 black-out package. This was done to eliminate confusion and to create a market for the newly released WE4 model.
So, in quick review, to my knowledge Buick had 3 different formats each in their own special color so dealers where kept informed. I am sure today the internet has replaced most, if not all of this paper trail that was widely used in the 1980s.

VIEW FROM OUR HOUSE –
Our neighbor has had a friend who owns one of those custom built tiny houses on a trailer. Every school year they park it on her property. The two pictures below show the tiny house being moved to its new location since the school year has ended due to the virus. I talked to her husband about the cost of the tiny house. He said they generally cost between $40,000 and $45,000. He bought this tiny house for half that price and finished the inside himself.
PHOTO 3 – The top left and top right photo show the tiny house being moved off the property. The bottom left photo shows the neighbor’s house which sits at the bottom of our driveway. It is one of the houses that in the 1940s and 1950s you could buy from Sears in a kit and if you had the proper skills assemble it yourself. It’s kind of like what Ikea the furniture company does today, but on a bigger scale! If I recall, Sears was one of the first department stores to offer a charge card. As a youngster the Sears store in our area at one time was next to Hurst’s location in Abington, PA. The bottom right photo shows the remains of a late 1940s Chevy in the woods on the back edge of our property. One could say it is ready for a major restoration or it is closer to being claimed by the elements. These things are what gives living in the country character that you can’t find in the cities.

The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.

REPRODUCTION BRAKE SWITCH RECALL DECAL (1) SET
We are offering these two decals as a set.
The reproduction Air Cleaner Decal measures 1-5/16″ x 1-1/4″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
It goes on the side of the top portion of the metal factory air cleaner box. There is no precise location but generally can be found on the side towards the driver’s fender.
The reproduction Brake Switch Recall Decal measures 2″ x 1″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
There was no exact placement for where the Service Department would put the Recall decal showing it was completed. Generally, it was put on the core support near the Belt Routing decal. A date was written in along with the other related information, which showed the recall was completed. The recall related to the powermaster brake switch was not issued until the fall of 1990.

Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
