MORE BRAKE STOPPING OPTIONS -
We now have another brake stopping option available. This now gives our company 5 different options for brake systems. The rebuilt powermaster unit, the 1984-1985 style hydro-boost format, the Hydratech brand new hydro-boost format, the vacuum conversion kit with all new parts, and now the vacuum conversion kit with a used vacuum brake pedal. No other company that I am aware of offers 5 options for brake systems! Plus we are working on one more option!
For the vacuum brake conversion this latest is priced really reasonable when you consider you get a rebuilt vacuum booster, a brand new master cylinder, our reproduction vacuum block with port and gasket, our new reproduction foam gasket to firewall, and what is really nice is a correct original used vacuum brake pedal. (The advantage of going to junkyards frequently!)
The vacuum brake pedal is the important part as it has the proper pin size and proper location so the rod from the vacuum booster unit can be installed with no issues. All this for just $329.95 plus shipping. Also, if you return your Turbo brake pedal you get a Letter of Credit for $25! The vacuum set up is only to be used on a fairly stock Turbo Regal. It’s best to read up on the various brake systems on the Turbo Buick forum so you can decide what format will work best in your situation.
NOTE - It’s also important that any brake conversion installation be done by a qualified auto mechanic.
PHOTO 1 - The photo on the left shows the complete vacuum brake kit, Part #7625. The photo on the right shows a typical vacuum brake kit on a Grand National. We have some of these kits already in stock for immediate delivery.
PHOTO 2 - The photo on the left shows how a master cylinder can quickly turn to rust unless you either coat it, paint it, or powder coat it. This is important as some of the master cylinders we sell for our kits are brand new bare metal. All our directions say you should coat them or paint them to maintain that new look! The photo on the right shows an early Ford Bronco I spotted at a car show this past Sunday. The Bronco had a 302 V8 engine stuffed under the hood. Space was at a premium, so the vacuum brake unit was actually mounted on a custom bracket that was angled towards the driver’s side. I had never seen this before. I have seen various universal joints used for steering shafts to go from the shaft to the steering gear, but this is the first time I had seen where the owner had angled a vacuum brake unit. One of the new compact hydro-boost systems may have solved his space problem! These are just my random thoughts as I am not an expert on brake options!
LEARNING MORE ABOUT YOUR CURRENT CAR OR TRUCK -
Because of the internet, you can now learn more about your current used car or truck, even if you do not get the original Window Sticker when you buy a used car or truck.
In many cases regardless of what make or brand it is, the service department can run the VIN number (17 digits) and print you out every code and explanation of each code. I do not know how far back their records go. In some cases they can even pinpoint the day it was built.
For example, in February 2011 we bought a well-optioned 2005 Tahoe. I had my local Buick dealer run the VIN number and they printed out 3 pages of information for me, which includes all the option codes and explanations of each code, built date, and even the plant it was built in.
With the 1999 Firebird we recently bought, I had the local dealer print out all the codes for that vehicle as well.
Since I was on a roll, I went to my local Audi dealer and had the service department run the VIN number to a 2001 Audi A4 that I recently purchased. They originally told me the car was too old, but when they tried it, I got a complete print out. What is amazing is the Audi A4 print out is almost 5 full pages of codes and explanations of the codes! Our Audi has 144 codes! Even though our Audi is only a two-owner car, the seller did not have the Window Sticker. Your typical Turbo Regal has probably between 65-80 codes. I think our bare bones white Turbo-T has 55 codes at most!
Again, I don’t know if you can get this information with any car and I don’t know how many years back they can go for any particular car model. However, if you have a favorite used car or truck and since it’s free, you may want to see if your local dealer would run the VIN number so you can get its “history” if you lack a Window Sticker. It’s also a nice piece to have when you go to sell the car or truck. This saves you remembering every option or code related to the car or truck!
PHOTO 3 - Shows the first page of information for the three different vehicles we mentioned. In each case the format is different.
DODGE CURRENTLY HOLDS THE TITLE -
Dodge currently holds the title for producing the fastest production street car for 2015, the Hell Cat Challenger. This tops GM’s entry and Ford, at least at the moment. Pumping out a little more than 700 hp in street trim and street tires will run the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds at 125 mph. This is with street tires! This title excludes cars built by GM and Ford purpose-built for drag racing.
Coming in second place is Ford with the Shelby GT500 at 662 hp, which is about 0.3 seconds slower on stock tires.
It makes you wonder how much higher the three automakers will push the envelope to claim the title of having the fastest US production car? I don’t think many insurance companies are lining up to insure the Hell Cat Challenger!
It brings to mind at least to me, the old days in the wildwest when gunslingers would see who had the fastest draw. The only difference is the loser seldom got to live to see another day. I miss those western movies!
IN OUR AREA -
I just realized there were three major car accessories manufacturers nearby to where I grew up.
The best-known one would be Hurst, which my wife actually worked for in 1969. She drove our 1964 GTO 4-speed to work.
When I was still in school riding the bus we would pass a building near our house. That company was Foxcraft. They were located in the town we grew up in. Their big claim to fame was making fender skirts. Fender skirts were very popular during the 1950s.
Last, but not least, there was Ronco, another company that I actually dealt with. They made the Vertex Magneto, which was an upgraded replacement for the distributor and was very popular during the 1960s and probably earlier. They were located about 25 minutes from where I grew up.
The 1967 GTX Hemi we had used a Vertex Magneto, which quit on a Sunday afternoon in front of my parent’s house. I pulled it out and took it to them the next day to fix it.
It’s a shame that all three of these companies are no longer in existence in our area. They all were at the top of their game at some point during the 1950s and 1960s.
PHOTO 4 - The photo on the left shows a Ronco Vertex Magneto I spotted on a street rod at a car show this past Sunday. The photo on the right shows another Vertex Magneto on a highly-modified 6-cylinder application. Note how clean and simple this engine compartment is!
PRODUCT UPDATE -
Caspers Electronics has informed us they had to tool up to get certain plugs made that affect the following three parts we buy from them: The Volt Booster #7505, The Field Fix #6961, and the TPS-TEC #1584. Delivery is expected to be sometime in late August.
NATIONAL BACK ORDER -
The Russell stainless braided brake hoses, Part #7218, are on national back order until the end of July.
This is one of the easiest improvements you can make to your brake system, especially now that the stock hoses to the front brake calipers are now 25 years and older. Stainless does not swell. When you eliminate the swelling, the end result is a quicker pressure delivered to the front brake calipers. No matter what brake conversion you have in your car, this is one inexpensive upgrade that is well worth the price!
If you order now, we will not charge your credit card until we have them in stock. By ordering now, it will give us a better idea on how many we need initially.
VEHICLES FOR SALE -
From time to time, whenever we spot an unusual or an exceptional car or truck for sale, or one we have for sale, we will put a blurb in our weekly Inner Circle. Also any cars that our customers have for sale will be featured here and you can see their car with photos on our website as well. In this category we will run the descriptions for two to three weeks and, if there is no interest in that particular vehicle, it will be deleted the following week. Any new vehicles that we add will appear first, so the oldest listing would be at the end of this section. If any of these vehicles perk your interest, email me personally - [email protected] - for more information and photos.

FOR SALE - 1987 Buick Grand National - Same local owner for the last 13 years. Matter of fact, the owner is one of our M&M contest winners. The Grand National is well optioned with T-Tops, power windows, power locks, power seat, posi rear, power trunk release, cruise, and tilt. The owner has been a customer of ours since he got the car. He has done all the braces, vacuum brakes conversion, translater, and adjustable fuel regulator. Pete Serio adjusted the windows years ago as well. These are the main improvements that have been done. 58,000 miles. Prior to his ownership, the car was painted. He did install new front fillers several years ago, painted by our son Darrell Kirban. The exterior looks very nice, but some bubbling in the paint can be seen on the hood and roof area. No molding down the sides. He also bought a redone steering wheel from us about 2 weeks ago. Under the hood is original, meaning it has not been cleaned or touched. The interior needs some attention… the driver’s seat shows some wear and the door panels have worn look to them. Car runs out 100%. The owner is looking for $13,900. Car is located about 25 minutes south of our office. For more info and photos, you can email me - [email protected]
FOR SALE - 2009 OPEN UTILITY TRAILER - This is a 5 by 8 open utility trailer that has a railing around the outside that is about one foot up from the wooden floor surface. A matching height tailgate is on the back. The floor has been reinforced underneath as I used it to take Turbo Regal drive trains down to Richards place in North Carolina. It has a front mounted spare, which is included. It will need tires due to heat cracks. Price is $795 or best offer. This is owned by our company and is in Kintnersville, PA.
FOR SALE - GNX #314 - The car is a two owner with the current owner having owned it for 16 years. It has been garaged and covered. Mileage is 10,542. Owner does have the jacket, but no book. Car is 100% stock runs and drives. The power antenna does not work and the fillers need to be replaced as they are showing cracks. Tires have been replaced. Paint and body is mint and car still retains the new car smell. I know the owner as I bought 4 turbo cars from him and his son over 10 years ago. I did see the GNX years ago. He has hardly used it as the mileage indicates. The price tag is $55,000. For more info and photos, email me direct - [email protected] The GNX is located in Maryland.

Reproduction SHIFTER HANDLE BILLET ALUMINUM PARTS (5) KIT
These are the 5 internal parts for the factory shifter handle.
The factory parts are plastic and can break, or the chrome-plating can peel off the exterior bezels of the original console shifter handle. These reproduction parts are made in billet aluminum so they will not break. The only internal part you re-use from your original handle is the internal spring.
You can polish the 3 exterior bezels that come in this kit, so it would look factory.

BRAKE CONVERSION KITS -
1985-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
CONVERSION VACUUM BRAKE BOOSTER KIT with VACUUM BRAKE PEDAL
This is another option to consider if you have a fairly stock 1985-1987 Buick Turbo Regal and want to switch from your original powermaster brake system. This kit comes complete with everything you need as shown. This unit comes with a REBUILT Cardone brake booster and a BRAND new master cylinder. The booster has a 9" diameter. The master cylinder and vacuum booster in this kit is exactly what GM used in 1986-1987 on a non-Turbo Regal application.
There are no clearance issues with this unit and the stock remote power steering reservoir. It also comes with our new vacuum block with gasket and hardware. It has the vacuum port similar to what GM used on the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. We also include 2 feet of vacuum hose and our new reproduction gasket to firewall.
The kit also includes a used correct Buick Regal vacuum brake pedal assembly. This pedal has the correct size pin and in the correct location so you can hook up the rod from the vacuum booster with no interference. You would get a Letter of Credit for $25 if you send us your powermaster brake pedal that you have removed and replaced with our vacuum pedal assembly.
Depending on our current core supply, we may be interested in your original powermaster brake unit for a Letter of Credit.
This booster uses the same factory holes in the firewall as the powermaster. The rod on this brake booster will only work with the vacuum pedal assembly that comes with this kit.
Since nothing gets cut or drilled related to the original powermaster, the original powermaster can be re-used should you want to convert back to the factory set up at a later date.
We highly recommend installation be done by a qualified mechanic, since you have to properly bleed the brakes and making sure the system is operating properly under all conditions.
Remember, your best option is always to stay with the factory GM powermaster brake system. This unit is only to be used with a stock or a fairly stock Turbo Regal. A modified engine or one with a performance cam would cause vacuum levels to be greatly reduced which would could cause braking problems. One possible solution would be to purchase from Summit or Jegs an additional vacuum canister to retain proper vacuum levels.
When purchasing this part you may also want to purchase Part #7218 Stainless Braided Brake Hoses as these will improve the stopping ability.
For our rebuilt powermaster brake unit, See our Part # 7021 - 1985-1987 Turbo Regal - Rebuilt Powermaster Brake Unit.
However, if you have a STOCK engine, there is adequate vacuum to switch over to a vacuum brake system. We have another option: Our Part #7044 - Brand New Complete Vacuum Brake Booster Kit. This kit retains the original brake pedal because the booster has a different rod. Also both the master cylinder and brake booster are brand new. This is the major difference.
NOTE - A vacuum brake system is NOT recommended for a Turbo Regal with a modified engine or one with a performance cam because vacuum levels are greatly reduced, which could cause braking problems.
NOTE - Be sure to check out the other options we offer for converting the Turbo Regal brake system - Part #7044 Brand New Complete Vacuum Brake Booster Kit that works off the existing turbo brake pedal, Part #7617 Hydro-Boost Conversion Kit, or #7618 HYDRATECH Hydro-Boost System conversion.
NOTE - If you send us your original powermaster brake pedal, you will receive a Letter of Credit for $25. Depending on our current core supply, we may be interested in your original powermaster brake unit for a Letter of Credit.
NOTE - We recommend installation be done by a qualified auto mechanic.

HYDRO-BOOST BRAKE SYSTEM UPDATE -
We now have two versions available in kit form. See New Products below and click on the link on our website. We hope to have yet another version available shortly. On a side note, we will also have a chrome tube available that you can slip over the cylinder on the hydro-boost system to make it better looking. This will be a two-piece design made from copper and brass, so once it’s chrome plated it will never rust.
We are doing two different lengths to cover the various cylinders on the hydro-boost units.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING - We are working on adding several more new products to our Turbo Regal product line. One product should be going on our personal Turbo-T within the next 10 days or so.

FOR SALE - 1987 BUICK TURBO REGAL LIMITED - FOR SALE
Fully documented original North Carolina car with ultra rare option combination of Heavy Pad Landau roof, T-Tops, coach lamps, cornering lights, 6-way power driver’s sear, reclining passenger seat, and factory trunk kit, to name a few. No smoke at start-up or while driving and no issues with the turbo seals. The only aftermarket upgrades to the car are: Racetronix high-volume fuel pump and new wiring on factory hanger, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 160 degree thermostat, boost control valve, 3.5 inch mild steel down pipe, Hooker 2.5 inch exhaust (Sounds great), cold air intake with K&N filter, pillar mounted boost gauge, oil and temp gauges in overhead.
