SEAT ARMOUR™ EMBROIDERED SEAT COVERS -
We were recently contacted by the owner of Seat Armour™ that markets various licensed GM products. One of his biggest sellers is called Seat Armour™ which is designed as a simple way to protect your bucket seat. The format is quite simple. It has an elastic slit at the top so you can stretch it over your headrest without removing the headrest. The terry cloth cotton cover drapes over the front portion of your bucket seat secured at the top under your headrest. The cover protects the front surface of your cloth seats. If you have a Grand National or a GNX it is a well worth product to protect the original Pallex seat material. This cover protects your seats from stains, odors and fading from the sun. It keeps your seat cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It is machine washable 100% heavy weight cotton terry cloth material. This is a quality seat cover that is embroidered in color on a black 100% cotton terry material. It is sold as a single cover or as a set.
Originally, for the Buick owner the company had just a basic Buick logo design. We gave the owner of Seat Armour™ several designs that he is now making available strictly to our company. We plan to offer these designs wholesale to any other interested suppliers. Each one is done on black 100% cotton material and is licensed by GM. The designs are all embroidered in color on the 100% cotton material. Currently we have the Buick Motorsports design in stock, which is the first one he made for us.
Email me [email protected] Contact me if you are a dealer and want more information for wholesale pricing.
We have over a dozen designs in the works for several different car lines. Also, contact me personally as we can get you a quote if you want a custom Seat Armour™ made. There is a minimum requirement. We are also looking at other ideas that this company can do for us.
It’s amazing that so many products are becoming available for our Turbo Regals, both in reproduction and aftermarket products. I have several new ideas in the works including one that A1 Cardone is working up a sample for me.
We also have them doing one that has the T-Type logo embroidered in the correct colors and of course the GNX. This is a very inexpensive way to protect your Turbo Regal seat or seats. Plus have the Buick related trademarked logo on it. You must call the office if you want to get a single one or a pair of the T-Type or GNX, as they are not yet on our website. The production of both the T-Type and GNX are currently in production. For the older GS Buicks we have one being made that has the GS logo in red with the words “Fast with Class” under it. To order GS version, you must call our office.
PHOTO 1 - Shows the Buick Motorsport design on the top left that we currently have in stock. Also we show it on an actual Grand National seat highlighted by a red arrow in the lower photo. The top middle photo shows the T-Type Seat Armour™ and the photo on the top right shows the GNX Seat Armour™.
Every GNX owner should have this on their seat, especially since the values of GNXs in recent years have skyrocketed. The days of finding $30,000 GNXs to buy are long gone. These Seat Armour™ covers come in a nice clear plastic bag, so you can easily store it in your trunk when you are not using it.
NEWSPAPER AD FROM OCTOBER 5, 1987 -
Among all the various pieces of literature or related catalogs you can find on the Turbo Regals, you seldom see a newspaper ad from that time period. People just did not save newspaper classified car ads.
I knew I had a car dealer ad somewhere that listed a new Grand National for sale. The original ad was larger than 11" by 17". I had it reduced to 7" by 11" and had copies made. I then had the copies laminated. See the Rare Parts section for price.
PHOTO 2 - Photo on the left shows this classified newspaper ad for Sea View Buick located in New Jersey. The paper is the Asbury Press, dated October 5th,1987. Just below the photo of the new 1988 front-wheel drive Regal, the ad lists a brand new 1987 Grand National for the sale at a price of $15,995. According to the small print, it listed originally for $17,612. We have the Grand National portion of the ad on the right.
The newspaper ad claims they have 6 in stock for immediate delivery. One point it makes in error it states Mag aluminum wheels. We all know the wheels were steel, not aluminum. It does give the VIN number of this new 1987 Grand National - HP456376. These would be the last numbers of the 17 digit VIN.
I am curious. Do any of my readers have that VIN number?
In checking my records of Turbo Regals we sold and the closest VIN I have to that VIN is HP456344.
This same dealer sold the very unpopular Renaults back then for just $6995.
CUSTOM MADE ARMY JEEP GOLF CART -
The same person that built the custom 1949 Ford convertible featured in last week’s Inner Circle also built a custom Jeep Golf Cart. He did it all using a 1:18 scale 1942 diecast Jeep as a pattern.
This is an exact replica of a 1942 military Jeep using a Club Car golf chassis that is powered by a gas motor. I believe the frame and engine is a 1998. He fabricated the entire body using 18-gauge steel. It has working headlights and taillights, and the windshield folds down just like the real Jeep does. It has a snap-on canvas roof that is removable.
Bill built this when he was in his 70s. It is truly a remarkable accomplishment. It is capable of doing 30 to 35 mph on the golf course. It’s the perfect mix of military and usefulness, if you are an avid golfer. The price is $5,500.
If you are interested and would like to see more photos, email me direct - [email protected]
This is located about 15 minutes from our house. We can easily store this in our pole building, if you purchase it and can’t pick it up right away.
PHOTO 3 - We show four different views of this custom-made 1942 Jeep golf cart based on the 1:18 scale Jeep shown in the lower right photos. He put his Air Force serial number on the hood instead of the number that appears on the actual diecast Jeep model. You can probably see in one of the photos the Grand National in the background that he has for sale. The Jeep golf cart has an ice compartment under the hood and another compartment in the back for storage. All the tires are brand new with a matching spare. The chassis is from a Club Car and it has an aluminum frame. For any golfer that served in the military, this would be a hit on any golf course. Or, if you know of someone that shows military vehicles, this would be the perfect addition for that owner.
NEW PART - SPECIAL INTRODUCTION PRICE -
Our newest part for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal is a fiberglass reproduction of the radiator top plate, part #7774. The originals are usually rusted.
These are being made for us by Mike at SPOOLFOOL, and our first order is in stock. The excellent quality of this item is just like his ready-to-install filler panels. The fit is excellent. The cover weighs a mere 1 pound, whereas the steel cover weighs 3 pounds.
Each one comes with 5 new powder-coated black bolts. The introductory price for this radiator top plate is $114.95. This price is only in effect until Friday, February 10th, 2017. The price will be higher after that date. These radiator top plates are in stock, however, the bolts are now getting powder coated. The Spoolfool quality has these looking like metal and will outshine a factory Grand National paint job. Mike does such a super job on these. You have to touch it to believe that it is not metal.
If you are interested, contact our office to get one of the first ones - 215-766-1611 x 0
PHOTO 4 - Shows this new reproduction fiberglass Radiator Top Plate and powder-coated black bolts. In most cases, it will outshine the factory black paint job on your Grand National!
MECUM AUCTION CONTEST WINNER UPDATE -
We heard from the GNX contest winner, Clem Sousa. Clem has known us since the early 1980s when he and his then girlfriend, now his wife, would drive down from the New England area and buy GTO parts from us.
He can remember paying $400 for a 1964 GTO steering wheel and his girlfriend would play catch with our son Darrell who was probably about 12 years old then. Like me, in September of 1987, he bought a Grand National brand new. He drove it all the time in the New England weather. After twenty years, rust took its toll on the undercarriage.
Soon after he purchased a 1987 Turbo-T out of California, built it up, and had it running 10.76 at 125 mph. Later he would sell that car and the rusted Grand National and buy a new 2006 GTO.
We would again cross paths in 2008 at the GTO Nationals in Saratoga, New York. He no longer has any Turbo Regals but has every single GTO newsletter and every single Grand News newsletter since I started. He still loves receiving the weekly Inner Circle.
SPEAKING OF RUST -
Speaking or rust, I read where an Audi owner drove his Audi into a pool filled with 12,000 liters of Coca-Cola and 88 pounds of baking soda to see if it would rid his car of rust. Not being a chemist, I have no idea if this worked. It does seem a bit extreme.
1986-1987 TURBO REGAL EIGHT-HOLE HOOD PADS -
The price for the eight-hole hood pad picked up at our location is $279.95. If you want it shipped, the price is $349.95 to any of the basic 48 states.
Another option is to pay for it now and pick it up at our Spring Open House on April 22nd. We also have a source that can sell you the pattern so you can imprint the Buick logo on the hood pad.
These are not on our website. You must call our office and talk to Christina if you want one of these hood pads. You can contact Christina - 215-766-1611 x 0.
UPCOMING RELATED CAR SHOW EVENTS FOR 2017 -
KIRBAN SPRING 2017 OPEN HOUSE -
Our Spring Open House will be held rain or shine on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017. It is the same weekend as Spring Carlisle. Spring Carlisle starts Wednesday the 19th. You could hit two events, since Carlisle is only about two hours from our location. I go to Spring Carlisle midweek every year.
Our Open House will have the usual features - Yum Yum donuts, M&M contest, sale prices on parts, and no reserve auction. Several featured items will be discounted to save shipping. The usual array of tagged and bagged used parts and literature will be for sale as well.
TURBO BUICK NATIONALS -
The dates for the Turbo Buick Nationals in Burlington, NC are May 3rd thru May 6th, 2017. The main event is held at Richard Clark’s Garage, where you can see the largest array of turbo cars and parts. We will be attending this event.
For more up-to-date information, go to turbobuick.com, and scroll down to events.
PYPES EXHAUST/MAX PERFORMANCE CAR & TRUCK SHOW -
The annual Pypes Exhaust/Max Performance Car & Truck Show is June 16th and 17th, 2017. It is held at Pypes Exhaust Headquarters, 2705 Clemens Road, Hatfield, PA. 19440.
This is a huge event. You can contact Mike - 267-638-5030 - for more information about registering your car for the event. I have attended this event in the past. It is located about 15 miles from our location.
CARLISLE CHRYSLER NATIONALS -
This year’s Chrysler event has a special all new Hurst Nationals July 14th and 15th in conjunction with the Chrysler Nationals. I have been asked to conduct a seminar on Hurst both days, July 14th and 15th. The location of my seminars as well as the other seminars is held just off the grounds from Gate 3 at the Expo Center. They have not yet told me my speaking times.
My granddaughter, Devyn hopes to go with me to help. With Chrysler introducing the Demon this April, my guess is they will have several Demons on display at Carlisle. Hope to see some of my customer at this event. I am as well versed with early Hurst history as I am with Turbo Regals.
As with all my seminars, I will be doing a M&Ms contest in honor of my parents. The Don Garlits autographed connecting rod will make a nice prize!
CLEVER MARKETING -
The post office did some clever marketing this past Sunday. They raised the price of their Forever stamp to 49 cents from 47 cents. It was clever marketing since they were closed Sunday so nobody had a chance to complain to them!
THE LINCOLN TV COMMERCIAL -
Maybe it’s just me, but I fail to understand the new Lincoln commercials featuring movie star Matthew McConaughey and the new Lincoln. The Lincoln is shown usually running through water or they have Matthew McConaughey falling backwards into a swimming pool. I see the connection with Matthew based on the Lincoln Lawyer movie from a few years ago. This was a good movie by the way, which starred Matthew McConaughey.
The commercial just seems dumb to me. It falls way short of the one that Buick did featuring the Grand National around 1985 or 1986 with the “Bad to the Bone” theme playing in the background. I can’t ever recall having owned a Lincoln, although my Dad did own one years ago.
INTERESTING WORDS OF WISDOM -
If you want to make a small fortune racing, you need to start with a big fortune.
I bought a Grand National so my tools would not rust from lack of use.
Richard Clark told me one a few years ago. He said you always want to avoid a mechanic that had several large drawers of used brackets, nuts, and various bolts. If a mechanic has a lot of used brackets, nuts and bolts, it could be because he left them off various customer’s cars over the years.
If ever a GM car was not named properly, it has to be the “Spark.” This golf-cart-size car covers the quarter mile in a bit over 18 seconds reaching 76 mph as long as there isn’t a head wind. It seems that car was misnamed!
GM AC DELCO AM/FM CD PLAYERS -
See Rare Parts section in this issue as we located two of these rare AC Delco AM/FM CD players that we should have any day. Complete with six-month warranty included and the proper jumper harness to plug into a factory 1984-1987 Turbo Regal radio harness. These are extremely hard to find. Only those that get this weekly Inner Circle directly to their inbox see the Rare Parts section.
If you want to sign up, contact our office. It’s free and I pride myself on never missing a single week in all these years of doing them. I believe we have the only online newletter specifically for the Turbo Regal owner that is done by email on a weekly basis.
GOOD NEWS FINALLY GETTING ORIGINAL BLACK PALLEX SEAT MATERIAL -
Late last week I got a tracking number showing that 15 yards of the original black pallex used in the 1986-1987 Grand National seats is in route to me. As you read this I should have it in stock. I am told this is the last of the black pallex this source has. I made this deal in November and just now am getting it. Be sure to specify how many yards you want. My email is- [email protected]
We still have various length of the original grey pallex material available that was strictly used in the 1986-1987 Grand Nationals. This is the original 30-year-old material that is brand new, never used. Email me direct your requirements and I’ll get back to you about availability and pricing. I also have several yards of the original grey 1987 material used in the WE4 Turbo Regals and Turbo Regals that received the grey cloth interior. The various reproductions of the grey and black pallex may come close, but nothing is exact to the original material. Plus as far as I know the reproduction is only available as a complete seat cover.
FOUR 1980 REGALS FOR SALE -
Recently Tom Zemanek contacted me about putting his 4 pristine 1980 Regals up for sale. He built these cars over the years as a hobby. Each one is 100 percent OEM. You can clearly see Tom has a passion for the 1980 Regal coupes. He ordered one 1980 Regal brand new with every possible option. One is white, one is blue and two are black. Most are in the $8,500 price range. One is a very rare Turbo Sport Coupe and the price is a more for that one.
He does have photos of these on You Tube. To find out more on these 4 pristine 1980 Regal coupes, contact Tom personally. His email is - [email protected]

TIP FROM KIRBAN -
You can’t go wrong by purchasing the new Seat Armour™ seat cover, as it’s an inexpensive way to protect your 30-plus-year-old seats, especially if you own a GNX or a Grand National. Pallex material is by far the most expensive original seat material to buy. No company has been able to match it correctly in reproduction. See photo 1 in this issue for details.

GM LICENSED - EMBROIDERED “BUICK MOTORSPORTS”
SEAT ARMOUR™ SEAT COVER
Because of the value of original Grand National seats, it’s best to protect them from stains, odors, and fading from the sunlight.
We are the exclusive distributor for this GM licensed embroidered “Buick Motorsports” Seat Armour™ seat cover.
This Seat Armour seat cover is a simple slip-on cover that slides over the head rest, which secures the top of the cover in place. It just covers the seat portion, not the headrest.
The cover installs in seconds. There are no straps or elastic and no other attachments are needed. You simply slide it over the headrest and it draps over the seat.
The GM licensed “Buick Motorsport” logo is embroidered in the logo colors - red, yellow and silver on black material. The emboirdered logo measures 9" x 2-1/2". It is machine washable 100% heavyweight cotton velour terry material.
It can be folded and stored in the trunk when not in use.
It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It’s a quick and simple way to protect the seats.
Our photo on the left shows this one-piece seat cover laid out so you can see the shape. Photo in the middle shows the original driver’s side seat, and the photo on the right shows the cover on the seat.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
Reproduction FRONT AIR DAMS (2)
Another nice dress-up item for the exterior is to replace the front air dams.
Over the years, some of the front air dams have deteriorated or become distorted, or are broken from being hit.
Because of many requests, we now offer reproduction front air dams. These air dams are a dead-on match, exact size and width, and even the texture is perfect.
Keep in mind, these are built with modern-day plastic and will last a lot longer than the GM originals. This material is a little harder to scruff compared to the OEM units.
These replace GM #25525981 and #25525980.
Photo on the left shows the two air dam pieces. Photo on the right shows the positioning on a car.
If you are having the car repainted or restored, it is a good time to replace the air dams.

1981-1987 Buick Regal (Including Turbo Regals) -
Reproduction 3-PIECE BAFFLES SET
These baffles are often overlooked, but are critical to keep a turbo engine cool.
Buick had a 3-piece baffles set, which consisted of 3 individual baffles that directed the air flow towards the radiator core. The long baffle went under the center and attached to the bottom of the front of the core support. The 2 small baffles attached to each side of the core support and to the front bumper shock pistons.
This format directs more airflow to the front of the radiator.
Overtime, the originals may be ripped or missing completely.
These reproduction baffles are made from the same rubber-like material as the originals.
NOTE - You will need to re-use the original hardware and plastic tie straps to attach the baffles.
Our top photo shows the 3 baffles in the set, and lower photos show the baffles in position on the front and driver’s side.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

IN CLOSING -
So far we have had a fairly mild winter in this part of the state. At my age I don’t want to be shoveling snow!
Remember, on the new Seat Armour™ seat cover protector, we have the T-Type and the GNX versions getting embroidered as well.
If you own a GNX this is a very wise investment. You must call the office if you want one of these to get on the list. The price is the same as the Buick Motorsport Seat Armour™.

We offer a single cover, part #7751. If you want to cover both seats, you can order two covers, part #7752.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
