We have put together a few more Package Deals featuring some of the hard-to-find items for the 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regals. They are all listed in the Rare Parts section.
PHOTO 1 – The top left photo shows a redone original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal air cleaner assembly, complete with our new reproduction decal installed. The top right photo shows an original “Made in England” radiator cap and one of our reproduction sets of the analog dash tell- tale lens. I only have 4 left of those 2 items.
The bottom left photo shows a full set of the original radio and antenna plugs, a used wastegate actuator clip, a used shifter handle clip, and 4 new chrome valve stems. The bottom right photo shows a used door lock button, both outer used radio knobs, a new foam filter for the wastegate solenoid, a new plug for the nose of the water pump, a used clip for the wastegate actuator, and a used clip for the shifter handle.

The bottom left photo shows 9 used original Grand National metric lug nuts, the 3 rubber bushings for the hood, one new plug for the water pump nose, a used clip for the shifter handle, and a used clip for the wastegate actuator. The bottom right photo shows all 4 radio factory plugs and antenna plug, a used like new brake switch, 1 used shifter handle clip, a used wastegate actuator clip, and a new plug for the water pump nose.
A 5-PIECE KIT - THE LITTLE THINGS FOR ANY 1984-1987 TURBO REGAL –
We put together about 15 of these 5-piece kits of the “Little things that you should always have on hand.” We still have several of these “Little Things” kits available. See the Rare Parts section.
One item in particular is a nice small rubber cap. It is not a factory part. It is a small rubber plug that seats nicely on the tip of the factory water pump. That exposed tip on the water pump always turns to rust!
POWERMASTER CORES –
As of this writing, Cardone will be starting to rebuild our powermaster brake units.
No other part that I have been involved with has been more troublesome than the powermaster brake units.
As time marches on, obtaining good powermaster cores is tougher. The motors have been burned up on most of the cores we have gotten in the last several years. This creates a new problem for us since Cardone can’t rebuild the motor. Once they know the motor is burned up on a core, they have to send it back to me. I take to another company. This company sends it out to get the winding redone. This can create another issue because, if it is not done to the proper size, it won’t fit back in the housing properly to work. All this takes time.
Adding to the issue, Cardone has been the shut down due to the virus. Right now, we need good usable cores. If you have a core to cash in for $150 Letter-of-Credit, you first must email a photo of the unit to me [email protected]. I have no interest in the ones that look like it’s been in a river for years or covered with grease. If you do not send a photo first, your core will not be considered acceptable.
We are hoping to get powermasters back in stock over the next several weeks.
Getting good powermaster cores was not a major problem 10 or 15 years ago.

The top right photo shows the one end of the motor housing, which you can clearly see is badly corroded. The bottom left photo shows a new motor windings alongside a burnt one. The bottom right photo shows a powermaster motor housing completely encased with grease and dirt.
MORE MEMORIES OF HURST –
The time frame was around 1962-1963. My Dad had moved his printing business to Glenside, PA. Around the corner from his shop Hurst had their shop. I would often go over there and get Hurst decals for the covers of my school books. I never realized that years later I would be dealing with Hurst on a regular basis. I was car crazy at a young age. I was always amazed that Hurst was actually located in my area and not in California like so many other performance companies were at the time.
At some point in the early 1960s Hurst secured what had to be their largest contract by securing a deal with Pontiac Motor Division. Pontiac was the very first GM car company to go with Hurst.
Hurst first supplied the 4-speed shifters for the 1961 Catalina Super Duty cars. The timing could not have been any better as Pontiac was getting ready to introduce the new 1964 Lemans with the GTO option. Back in the 1960s the new models came out the previous fall. The 1964 GTO was introduced in the fall of 1963. That year Pontiac sold just over 32,000 GTO’s. I could not find figures for the transmission breakdown. The demand grew greatly for the 1965 GTO model with sales of over 75,000 GTOs of which 56,000-plus were fitted with the manual transmission. This figure would increase again for 1966 with sales of over 96,000 of which over 61,000 had the manual transmission. You can clearly see that with such strong sales with Pontiac, Hurst by far had a tremendous jump on any competitor’s shifter during the 1960s.
The GTO got tremendous magazine coverage. Lightweight A-body platform with 2 engine options - 4-barrell or the tri-power setup. Transmissions – You had a choice of the automatic 2-speed, 3-speed manual, or the highly desirable 4-speed manual shifter. The tri-power and the 2-speed automatic transmission would be discontinued for the 1967 GTO model year.
Hurst was there at the right time. Although Hurst could not put their name on the chrome shifter stick that first model year, it was a step in the right direction. Pontiac used their own linkage which was probably quicker to install on the assembly line. The Hurst-style linkage used threaded rods with adjusting buttons that would thread on to make the shifts more positive and firm. Pontiac had a pinch-style format that had more of a spongy feel.
All was not lost for Hurst as they keenly marketed what was called a K.P.O. kit for both the factory 3-speed manual shifter and the 4-speed manual shifter. Hurst did not come out with the K.P.O. linkage kit until the fall of 1964. I can tell you from firsthand experience, when I got involved with the GTO business in the late 1970s, we sold a lot of those K.P.O. kits. To this day, I have no idea what K.P.O. stands for related to the Hurst linkage.
For the 1965 GTO, Pontiac relented and Hurst was permitted to put their name on the chrome stick. Rumor has it that Hurst got $1 more per shifter to cover the cost of having the Hurst name stamped on the chrome stick. To my knowledge, Hurst may have been the first company besides tire manufacturers, to have their name visible on a production GM vehicle. The lone exception prior to that would be tires.
ON A SIDE NOTE:
Within one month of returning from Vietnam in 1967 I purchased a used 1964 GTO coupe with the 4-speed Hurst shifter. Eileen would end up driving it to work at Hurst. Hurst was her first job when we got married. In looking back, the early year GTOs 1964-1966 with the tri-power 4-speed combination really put the GTO in the forefront among young drivers. Something that was later repeated with the 1986 and 1987 Grand Nationals. Both cars garnered huge praise from the car magazines.

DUAL FAN SETUPS FOR THE 1986-1987 TURBO REGALS –
With summer now in full swing, one of our most popular items is the Dodge Intrepid dual fan setup. It is so popular that several years ago Casper’s made a plug-and-play harness for that format. This allows customers to do the install without having to cut any of the factory wires in their car. It comes complete with relays. To my knowledge, nobody markets an installation kit to secure the dual fan setup to the factory radiator.
Most owners go on various websites to see what other Turbo owners have done to secure the dual fan setup to the radiator. Part of the install involves re-bending the two AC brackets to secure the dual fan housing. We now have a source that is making a special bracket so no modifications to any of the original parts is required. This new bracket will secure the Dodge dual fan setup for a better fitment. No holes need to be drilled in the car or into the fan assembly. The same source also makes the translator bracket we sell
Remember, excessive heat kills horsepower. Our part number for the dual fan with plug-and-play harness is #7607 for $259.95. Currently we have the dual fans and harnesses in stock.

2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AWD TOURING MODEL – FOR SALE
I never drove one before, so I was impressed. It’s quite a confidence builder when you see a speedometer read up to 160 mph. As of this writing, we don’t have it priced yet as it is getting the latest PA inspection and emissions done. I do know it will be priced under $5,995. This is the small country car dealership where I hold a sales license. It’s a chance to get together with other car people and enjoy the atmosphere. I will be there the entire time. UPDATE - NEW MODIFIED JEEP LOWER STEERING SHAFTS –
We have several now being modified. See the Rare Parts section for prices. We will also continue to offer modified used Jeep lower steering shafts. To get on the list, you must email me direct [email protected] or [email protected]
The Jeep lower steering shaft has metal swivel joints at both ends which eliminates the primitive fiber rag joint that GM used for many years. Interesting enough, for the 1982 through 1992 Camaro they do make an upgraded lower steering shaft to eliminate the rag joint in those applications. Later Camaros and Firebirds have a metal swivel joint. The result is firmer, more precise steering.
GLOSSY-BLACK SPRAY PAINT –
We have just added a glossy-black paint spray paint to our stock. This spray paint is glossy black and is excellent for exterior or interior applications.
It is made by the same company that color matches the semi-black, grey, dark blue, burgundy paint we sell.
It dries within minutes. Another excellent replacement for any restoration.

AD - CAR FOR SALE - 1987 Buick Regal Limited Turbo-T -
Located on Saint Simons Island, Georgia since new. I am third owner and have had the car since 2003. Good driver, not a show car.
The good:
2019 all new air conditioning throughout with Kirban compressor and R134. 2020 swap powermaster brakes to hydroboost. Better performance and hopefully reliability. Same owner since 2003, garage kept since 2005. No body rust, straight panels. Repaint 2007, still looks good. Interior redone 2008 original power bench seat velour interior, shows some age, still good. Several reliability and performance upgrades (fuel pump, 40 lb injectors, Turbo Tweak chip, shift kit), original parts like air filter housing still available. All numbers matching powertrain, engine rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago.
The bad:
Close to 100k miles. Original digital dash swapped for GNX style all VDO gauge dash layout by second owner, original not available. Tires are low miles, but old enough to require replacement for performance driving. Spare tire and jack AWOL. Seat belt latch drivers side front missing plastic trim. 3 of 4.

I read in a recent New York newspaper that car thefts over a four-week period totaled more than 630. That works out to over 150 per week. That rate is 56% higher than the same time last year. The Turbo Regal you own, regardless of the condition, has been increasing in value each year. In the last 5 years, the values have really gone up.
The “Touch and Start Automatic Theft Deterrent Starter Cut-Off System” is the solution. Our part number #7230, priced at $79.95. There is no siren and it sets automatically once you shut off the engine. There is no switch or trigger for a thief to locate. Only one wire gets cut in your wire harness under the dash to install this kit. This is made in the USA. It was actually engineered by a Turbo Regal owner over 30 years ago. It does have a valet mode for when you have the car worked on.

We discovered that Fed Ex will not forward any packages that are sent to the PO Box or to our old address in Plumsteadville. Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use Fed Ex. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

STEERING WHEEL CORES. Currently we need good 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering cores. They must be straight and not have rusted spokes. We l issue a letter of credit of $100 for each acceptable core.
POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS. Currently, we are accepting powermaster brake units. When we need cores, we give a $150 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core. However, you first must email me [email protected] a photo of the powermaster unit. Too many cores we been getting are in such terrible shape they are worthless to us.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $150 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core. We urgently need these cores!
If you ship to us, the post office is the cheapest method. Pack the item(s) with a note with your name, address and phone number. This is the only item we are currently accepting as cores.

Here are the options and the costs.
Ads can be from any individual or company. It needs to be automotive related, meaning it does not need be specifically Turbo Regal related. It can be for something for sale or something wanted.
Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.
Our weekly Inner Circle reaches over 3,400 members every Wednesday direct to their inbox. The Inner Circle also appears every Wednesday on our website with the related photos. Your ad would be visible to both groups of readers. So, the exposure to your ad is well over 3,200 potential buyers.

SEMI-BLACK EXTERIOR TRIM SPRAY PAINT
This spray paint is semi-black and is an excellent color match for the black-out trim moldings that was used on certain Turbo Regal models.
It is made by the same company that color matches the grey, dark blue, burgundy paint we also sell from this same source.
It dries within minutes. While many variations of semi-black exist we found this to be a very close match. Remember, no paint color is going to match trim that has been exposed for over 30 years of sun and weather.
This is ideal to do the taillight trim parts and the plastic headlight bezels.

REPRODUCTION BRAKE SWITCH RECALL DECAL (1) SET
We are offering these two decals as a set.
The reproduction Air Cleaner Decal measures 1-5/16″ x 1-1/4″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
It goes on the side of the top portion of the metal factory air cleaner box. There is no precise location but generally can be found on the side towards the driver’s fender.
The reproduction Brake Switch Recall Decal measures 2″ x 1″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
There was no exact placement for where the Service Department would put the Recall decal showing it was completed. Generally, it was put on the core support near the Belt Routing decal. A date was written in along with the other related information, which showed the recall was completed. The recall related to the powermaster brake switch was not issued until the fall of 1990.

A 5-PIECE KIT - THE LITTLE THINGS FOR ANY 1984-1987 TURBO REGAL –
We put together about 15 of these 5-piece kits of the “Little things that you should always have on hand.” We still have several of these “Little Things” kits available. See the Rare Parts section.
One item in particular is a nice small rubber cap. It is not a factory part. It is a small rubber plug that seats nicely on the tip of the factory water pump. That exposed tip on the water pump always turns to rust!
POWERMASTER CORES –
As of this writing, Cardone will be starting to rebuild our powermaster brake units.
No other part that I have been involved with has been more troublesome than the powermaster brake units.
As time marches on, obtaining good powermaster cores is tougher. The motors have been burned up on most of the cores we have gotten in the last several years. This creates a new problem for us since Cardone can’t rebuild the motor. Once they know the motor is burned up on a core, they have to send it back to me. I take to another company. This company sends it out to get the winding redone. This can create another issue because, if it is not done to the proper size, it won’t fit back in the housing properly to work. All this takes time.
Adding to the issue, Cardone has been the shut down due to the virus. Right now, we need good usable cores. If you have a core to cash in for $150 Letter-of-Credit, you first must email a photo of the unit to me [email protected]. I have no interest in the ones that look like it’s been in a river for years or covered with grease. If you do not send a photo first, your core will not be considered acceptable.
We are hoping to get powermasters back in stock over the next several weeks.
Getting good powermaster cores was not a major problem 10 or 15 years ago.
PHOTO 3 – The top left photo shows a powermaster reservoir that you can clearly see leads to trouble due to the amount of dirt particles in the reservoir. The top right photo shows the one end of the motor housing, which you can clearly see is badly corroded. The bottom left photo shows a new motor windings alongside a burnt one. The bottom right photo shows a powermaster motor housing completely encased with grease and dirt.
MORE MEMORIES OF HURST –
The time frame was around 1962-1963. My Dad had moved his printing business to Glenside, PA. Around the corner from his shop Hurst had their shop. I would often go over there and get Hurst decals for the covers of my school books. I never realized that years later I would be dealing with Hurst on a regular basis. I was car crazy at a young age. I was always amazed that Hurst was actually located in my area and not in California like so many other performance companies were at the time.
At some point in the early 1960s Hurst secured what had to be their largest contract by securing a deal with Pontiac Motor Division. Pontiac was the very first GM car company to go with Hurst.
Hurst first supplied the 4-speed shifters for the 1961 Catalina Super Duty cars. The timing could not have been any better as Pontiac was getting ready to introduce the new 1964 Lemans with the GTO option. Back in the 1960s the new models came out the previous fall. The 1964 GTO was introduced in the fall of 1963. That year Pontiac sold just over 32,000 GTO’s. I could not find figures for the transmission breakdown. The demand grew greatly for the 1965 GTO model with sales of over 75,000 GTOs of which 56,000-plus were fitted with the manual transmission. This figure would increase again for 1966 with sales of over 96,000 of which over 61,000 had the manual transmission. You can clearly see that with such strong sales with Pontiac, Hurst by far had a tremendous jump on any competitor’s shifter during the 1960s.
The GTO got tremendous magazine coverage. Lightweight A-body platform with 2 engine options - 4-barrell or the tri-power setup. Transmissions – You had a choice of the automatic 2-speed, 3-speed manual, or the highly desirable 4-speed manual shifter. The tri-power and the 2-speed automatic transmission would be discontinued for the 1967 GTO model year.
Hurst was there at the right time. Although Hurst could not put their name on the chrome shifter stick that first model year, it was a step in the right direction. Pontiac used their own linkage which was probably quicker to install on the assembly line. The Hurst-style linkage used threaded rods with adjusting buttons that would thread on to make the shifts more positive and firm. Pontiac had a pinch-style format that had more of a spongy feel.
All was not lost for Hurst as they keenly marketed what was called a K.P.O. kit for both the factory 3-speed manual shifter and the 4-speed manual shifter. Hurst did not come out with the K.P.O. linkage kit until the fall of 1964. I can tell you from firsthand experience, when I got involved with the GTO business in the late 1970s, we sold a lot of those K.P.O. kits. To this day, I have no idea what K.P.O. stands for related to the Hurst linkage.
For the 1965 GTO, Pontiac relented and Hurst was permitted to put their name on the chrome stick. Rumor has it that Hurst got $1 more per shifter to cover the cost of having the Hurst name stamped on the chrome stick. To my knowledge, Hurst may have been the first company besides tire manufacturers, to have their name visible on a production GM vehicle. The lone exception prior to that would be tires.
ON A SIDE NOTE:
Within one month of returning from Vietnam in 1967 I purchased a used 1964 GTO coupe with the 4-speed Hurst shifter. Eileen would end up driving it to work at Hurst. Hurst was her first job when we got married. In looking back, the early year GTOs 1964-1966 with the tri-power 4-speed combination really put the GTO in the forefront among young drivers. Something that was later repeated with the 1986 and 1987 Grand Nationals. Both cars garnered huge praise from the car magazines.

DUAL FAN SETUPS FOR THE 1986-1987 TURBO REGALS –
With summer now in full swing, one of our most popular items is the Dodge Intrepid dual fan setup. It is so popular that several years ago Casper’s made a plug-and-play harness for that format. This allows customers to do the install without having to cut any of the factory wires in their car. It comes complete with relays. To my knowledge, nobody markets an installation kit to secure the dual fan setup to the factory radiator.
Most owners go on various websites to see what other Turbo owners have done to secure the dual fan setup to the radiator. Part of the install involves re-bending the two AC brackets to secure the dual fan housing. We now have a source that is making a special bracket so no modifications to any of the original parts is required. This new bracket will secure the Dodge dual fan setup for a better fitment. No holes need to be drilled in the car or into the fan assembly. The same source also makes the translator bracket we sell
Remember, excessive heat kills horsepower. Our part number for the dual fan with plug-and-play harness is #7607 for $259.95. Currently we have the dual fans and harnesses in stock.

UPDATE - NEW MODIFIED JEEP LOWER STEERING SHAFTS –

The Jeep lower steering shaft has metal swivel joints at both ends which eliminates the primitive fiber rag joint that GM used for many years. Interesting enough, for the 1982 through 1992 Camaro they do make an upgraded lower steering shaft to eliminate the rag joint in those applications. Later Camaros and Firebirds have a metal swivel joint. The result is firmer, more precise steering.

Located on Saint Simons Island, Georgia since new. I am third owner and have had the car since 2003. Good driver, not a show car.
The good:
2019 all new air conditioning throughout with Kirban compressor and R134. 2020 swap powermaster brakes to hydroboost. Better performance and hopefully reliability. Same owner since 2003, garage kept since 2005. No body rust, straight panels. Repaint 2007, still looks good. Interior redone 2008 original power bench seat velour interior, shows some age, still good. Several reliability and performance upgrades (fuel pump, 40 lb injectors, Turbo Tweak chip, shift kit), original parts like air filter housing still available. All numbers matching powertrain, engine rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago.
The bad:
Close to 100k miles. Original digital dash swapped for GNX style all VDO gauge dash layout by second owner, original not available. Tires are low miles, but old enough to require replacement for performance driving. Spare tire and jack AWOL. Seat belt latch drivers side front missing plastic trim. 3 of 4.

You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.

Our weekly Inner Circle reaches over 3,400 members every Wednesday direct to their inbox. The Inner Circle also appears every Wednesday on our website with the related photos. Your ad would be visible to both groups of readers. So, the exposure to your ad is well over 3,200 potential buyers.

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
SEMI-BLACK EXTERIOR TRIM SPRAY PAINT
This spray paint is semi-black and is an excellent color match for the black-out trim moldings that was used on certain Turbo Regal models.
It is made by the same company that color matches the grey, dark blue, burgundy paint we also sell from this same source.
It dries within minutes. While many variations of semi-black exist we found this to be a very close match. Remember, no paint color is going to match trim that has been exposed for over 30 years of sun and weather.
This is ideal to do the taillight trim parts and the plastic headlight bezels.

REPRODUCTION AIR CLEANER DECAL (1) &
REPRODUCTION BRAKE SWITCH RECALL DECAL (1) SET
We are offering these two decals as a set.
The reproduction Air Cleaner Decal measures 1-5/16″ x 1-1/4″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
It goes on the side of the top portion of the metal factory air cleaner box. There is no precise location but generally can be found on the side towards the driver’s fender.
The reproduction Brake Switch Recall Decal measures 2″ x 1″ and is white with black lettering, which is the identical size and color as the original.
There was no exact placement for where the Service Department would put the Recall decal showing it was completed. Generally, it was put on the core support near the Belt Routing decal. A date was written in along with the other related information, which showed the recall was completed. The recall related to the powermaster brake switch was not issued until the fall of 1990.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
