Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 03-30-2022 -
BREAKING NEWS -
I just got the initial word from a long time subscriber who has two cars he wants to sell. One is a 49,000 mile 1986 Grand National (has T-Top option and digital dash). Original Texas car now resides in Oklahoma. I expect to have photos and more details shortly on this example. The project asking price is $37,900. He also owns a rather rare 2003 Ford product….a 2003 Mercury Marauder. Car has black exterior which was the most popular color that year. This car has a mere 38,000 actual miles. Comes with the dealer black jacket that you could buy back then. Jacket has never been worn. Price has not yet been determined but he will entertain a price in the 20 grand range. You seldom see these cars today on the road. Again currently do not have any more details on either.
GM LICENSED GRAND NATIONAL EMBLEM SIGN INTRO PRICE EXPIRES THIS WEEK -
The last day is March 31st, 2022. To obtain the $179.95 price plus $30 shipping. After that the price is $219.95 and $25 shipping. Part number #8020! Watch for more unique signs in this format later this Spring and Summer!
HERE ARE FOUR INTERESTING PHOTOS -
PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows back in 2005 when the seller bought the then 14,000 mile 1987 Grand National hardtop. This photo was taken at our old house. We would move out of that house on Sugarbottom Road later that Fall of 2005. His daughter Kallie is pictured in the photo is now 18 1/2 years old! Whoever buys this 1987 Grand National will also get all these documents and photos which proves the history of this fine example back to 2005. The top right photo comes from a customer of ours who is currently serving time in a prison. He owns a WE4 and sent me a letter requesting our latest catalog. Unfortunately, we no longer do printed catalogs so I sent him as a gift my 350 page which I autographed. As a thank you he had his friend who also is serving time send me this artwork of a GNX he made for me as a gift. He hopes to get out soon so he can work on his WE4.
The bottom left and bottom right photos show my two cats that guard and protect our pole building from thieves and rodents (mostly rodents). The long haired cat is a female that was a stray that showed up about 6 years ago and I call her Fuzzball. My long time cat Smokie from our old house died a few years back so I got Fuzzball as a companion which is a young gray and white female cat I call Squeak as that is the noise she makes. Both cats are extremely affectionate and every morning are waiting at our front door for me to feed them.
1987 TURBO-T HARDTOP BLACK EXTERIOR WITH BLACK OUT PACKAGE UPDATE -
New information: The seller is open to any reasonable offer. The asking price is $34,900. All reasonable offers considered. We have a lot of photos including many of when the work was being done by Steve V’s Automotive in Elberon, Virginia. This can all be verified by calling Steve direct at 757-560-2782. He works on many of these cars for customers and even performed work on my 3rd test car for the owner who bought it from me years ago. Steve also owns one of my cars that he purchased back in 2006. At the time Steve remembers the Grand National he bought was number 298 as I was closing in on the magic 300 number of Turbo Regals I sold. Now that figure surpasses 350. Hard to believe. Remember this car has only gone about 1,000 miles since Steve performed all this work in 2018. This model 1987 Turbo-T was only produced for a short time in the Fall of 1986 due to the release of the WE4 model. All the paperwork the owner has will back this up. For more info and photos email me direct [email protected]
1987 TURBO-T FOR SALE -
This owner resides in Florida. Prior to this he lived in Nevada. Car was originally new sold in Pennsylvania. Car has no rust and has been garaged. Mostly stock with new Pypes exhaust system and Spoolfool fillers. Car is a T-Top. Black exterior gray interior. Originally had the chrome package, but the owner had everything redone in black powder coating or black paint so it appears to have the black out option. Wheels are clear coated so they still look new. Tires have maybe 1,000 miles on them. Car has all our brace kits installed. This includes the 4-piece rear seat brace kit and front triangle set. The reason for selling? He has another performance car and the garage is only a 2-bay. His wife wants one garage bay for her car!
Car only has 38,000 actual miles on it. It has a red pinstripe down both sides in the factory position that has been covered over with a light gray pinstripe. Car runs 100% and AC works. Original paint with the usual checking in the hood due to age. Interior is quite nice. Has aluminum supports front and rear. Also has the top of the line am/fm cassette EQ radio. Trunk ID label intact. VIN1G4GJ1171HP422127. Carfax is clean and in July 2007 the car had 34,000 miles on it. So if you do the math, the car has only been driven 4,000 miles in the last 15 years! The asking price is $34,900. For more pictures, and info contact me [email protected] we do have a recent video of the car available. Remember low mileage examples are very hard to find with no rust issues.
LATEST CAR FOR SALE -
Unusual car. This model came out in 1986, the LeSabre Grand National. Based on the new front wheel platform. Over the years as old time readers probably recall we had two of them. The first one my son repainted and we kept it several years before selling to a customer in Texas. Years later I heard it made its way to Minnesota. I have the original Sales Bulletin from Buick that said they were only available in two exterior colors: all black or all white. From what I have seen I think production was limited to black exterior only. Production was either 112 or 117. I have information in my 350 page book. See pages 278 thru 281. This model was called a Grand National; the SPID code on the trunk label was WE2 for Grand National. Being on the front wheel drive platform it was the 3.8 engine with no turbo assist. Same gray leather wrapped steering wheel gray cloth bench seat. Basically a very smooth driving front wheel Grand National that lacked the attention among thieves! This example is located in Virginia and still retains all the original paint. The seller's father bought it brand new. Car is always covered under a carport or in a garage. Car has no dents, the interior is nice and has new tires. Everything works. Actual miles is 168,000.
One minor ding on the gas door two minor rust spots on the hood. Paint still shines and does not reflect its age. Car is all original. The son has some records including all the records when the Dad had the oil changed. No window sticker unfortunately. Car shows it was purchased originally from a dealer in Daytona Beach, Florida. This makes perfect sense since all 112 or 117 were sold in Florida from what I recall. A very unique car. Priced to sell $11,900 is the asking price. More info and photos in next week's Inner Circle. Here is one you can drive and enjoy that compliments the better known Grand National. I am sure an insurance company can calculate approximately how many still may be on the road today. My guess? Probably less than 30. For more info email me direct [email protected]
ANOTHER 1987 GRAND NATIONAL HARDTOP HAS BECOME AVAILABLE -
This was actually one of my cars I sold back in 2005. Back then the car had 14,000 miles on it. Now it has 15,000 miles in round numbers. Amazingly, the owner has driven the car less than 1,000 miles in 17 years time! He resides in Florida. He is a retired police officer. Ironically when he joined the local police force his badge number he was assigned was 231! He is basically afraid to drive. The car is 99% stock. When I bought it to resell it already had the AVC style GNX dash in it and I gave the owner the original speedo unit which shows 8,000 miles. The GNX dash was probably reset to reflect those miles. It is a true 15,000 miles Grand National that is well optioned. This is a rare find that has been garaged. Owner has all the glove box booklets and the window sticker. The asking price is $67,900. When the seller first bought it he attended several Englishtown Grand National shootouts and won several trophies including “Best of Show”. I do have photos and more information. Simply email me [email protected] These rare 99% original low mileage examples are getting costly to purchase and values keep climbing. This car with the young girl is pictured above in Photo 1.
RARE PARTS -
Below are photos of more parts we have for sale. Note under Rare Parts we are including shipping on some of the small items to go by USPS as we need to move some of these parts to make room for this load of parts we will be getting the first week of April.
PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows a stock speedometer unit, the bracket and two sensors from the passenger inner fender. The top right photo shows 2 seat belt guides, pair bucket seat trim panels, and 3 inner front bucket seat belts. The bottom left shows a powermaster reservoir cap and gasket, top 2 parts of the 3rd brake lite, a Hot wheels Grand national and a set of our new repro 3.8 sfi hood emblems. The bottom right photo shows a pair of good used front T-top interior gray plastic covers.
PHOTO 3 - The photo to the left shows a good used EGR cap, a good used burgundy horn center with horn contact uncut, a good used battery hold down, and the water pipes off the intake manifold. The photo to the right shows a good used radio bezel, a used speedometer sensor, all three booklets I redid - engine illustration - powermaster troubleshoot booklet - 1984-1987 Buick Regal Price directory & Option codes. Also a Bad to the bone Decal metal Grand National logo grille emblem and book explaining all the Automotive logos.
PHOTO 4 - Here are 4 photos of original documents that are seldom seen today that could have been gotten if you bought a Turbo Regal in 1987. Two shows added on costs a dealer would have done had they added rust proofing, or special polish or pin stripes etc. The other is the information on the GM Protection Plan. All items I have accumulated over the years.
BARRETT JACKSON AUCTION WEST PALM BEACH FLORIDA -
The dates are April 7th thru the 9th. Castle Motors will have 3 vehicles at this major auction. Two of them came from me. One is a very rare 1987 Turbo-T Limited hardtop. The Limited has the window sticker and has the ultra rare thicker padded ½ vinyl roof and original gray paint! Car has just 33,100 actual miles. Bid lot number is 342.1. Also they have a 1992 black GMC Typhoon with 72,000 miles at the auction as well. Real nice condition even the exterior cladding is not cracked. Black exterior. That bid lot number is #332. Both the Limited and the Typhoon were winners at this past year's World of Wheels event. The other car I got for him last year is a Chrysler Crossfire coupe black 6-speed manual with a mere 17,000 actual miles. I don't have the bid lot number on this car.
IN STOCK A REBUILT 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL STOCK TURBO BY LIMIT ENGINEERING -
Normally we don’t get them rebuilt until we have one sold then we send the core to Limit to rebuild. In this case we have one on the shelf ready to sell already rebuilt. The price is $895.95 which includes a $175 refundable core charge. Part #6848. Contact the office to make sure we have it still in stock!
ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS AND RELATED INFORMATION -
As these cars continue to rise in the collector market, the more documents and related literature the seller has, the higher the value will be in years to come. Basically the car came with 4 different manuals in the glove box. Some cases 5 manuals with the 5th one being a small brochure related to the radios. Originally these booklets came in a 5 cent clear plastic bag. It would have been nice had Buick done a nice leather zipper bag and a small metal emblem on the front. Had they done that it would have been in huge demand today! Back then mostly it was Corvettes and Cadillac that got the better looking owner manual case.
If the car has the optional astroroof a brown envelope with a hand crank and directions would be in the glove box. If at some point the seller removed the broadcast sheets from the inside door panel and or the rear seat that would be two more great documents to have. Course if you are really lucky the seller has the original window sticker which by far is considered the most valuable document to have in my opinion. Also if it was never disturbed tucked by the spare tire is a brown envelope with a part number in it and in that brown envelope is the bracket to mount a front license plate to the bumper. A Pennsylvania car never required a front license plate and certain other states don’t either so it could be still there if the spare has never been disturbed. Bonus items would be what I show in Photo 1 in this issue when the seller came to pick up the 1987 Grand National from me. The next owner will get all these photos and info which document the car back to 2005. That is just some things to ask about when looking at a Turbo Regal to buy. I know when I was buying them I always asked for everything the seller had that was related to the car. We will cover more about this in next week’s Inner Circle.
Referring to Photo 4 in this issue. The two vertical pictures show what would be taped next to the original pre printed window sticker for any given GM car. Basically these additional items were a method the dealer would increase their profit margins over the window sticker price. For example the one slip shows the dealer installed options added $2311.00 to the original window sticker. It even shows in that figure additional dealer profit is $1500 on top of the added features of just $811.00! Wow! The dealer almost doubled his money against the few features they added.
The other vertical photo added just a few features to the original window sticker, and the total was another $6,249.00 making a grand total of $23,952.00 for this particular 1987 Grand National! (We have blocked out the VIN numbers). This would be a rare original document to have alongside the original window sticker. Also pictured in Photo 4 is the info on the GM Protection Plan. The one picture shows the credit card size card still attached to the flier. The other flier is what they would have sent you to obtain the GM Protection Plan. Lastly we show the actual never used Protection Plan decal you would affix to the inside window glass showing you have the GM Protection Plan. One can only surmise if it included fixing any T-Top leaks! One thing I did read what it does NOT cover is any form of racing!
WE JUST SECURED A TWENTY YEAR COLLECTION OF TURBO REGAL PARTS -
I am sending my buddy this Thursday to pick up this stash of Turbo Regal parts and bring them back to me. Watch next week's Inner Circle to see what I got available. Some of them will be parts we used to sell many years ago.
WE CAN SELL YOUR CAR -
When the time comes you need to down size or you want to strike while the value is high we have a good success rate at finding buyers. Especially now with Spring and Summer fast approaching. We handle the advertising and answering the questions and weeding out the tire kickers. We never give out the exact location of your car. You decide on the price after any bargaining is done. The money goes directly from the buyer to your bank account. I have a flat commission based on the price span. This format has worked out very well for me for both the buyer and the seller. The buyer has more confidence about the car. The seller is not bothered with phone calls or emails. Most potential buyers know who I am. So whenever the time comes you want to sell your car, email me the particulars. I can explain the process to you which also allows you to sell the car as well. My email is [email protected] I can also help you determine the price. I can also take in a trade and pay you the seller the difference. I have worked with JJ Best in the past which is quite generous in granting loans. So you have plenty of options. We have sold 3 of the Grand Nationals in the last 6 weeks! For a total of over $135,000. All 3 sellers will gladly give me a good review. We also work with a broker that can handle transport both open and enclosed. This transport broker is a customer of ours and owns personally a 9,000 mile Grand National! He just had the last 3 cars I sold transported to their new homes! The car needs not be a Turbo Regal.
FOR SALE 300 MILE ORIGINAL 1987 GRAND NATIONAL HARDTOP -
This example has been properly preserved all these years. Runs and drives. Been stored on a 4 post lift as part of a huge car collection in Illinois. My seller will consider partial trades of one or more vehicles of interest towards the price tag. The window sticker has never been removed from the car. Originally sold in Texas. The price tag $199,900 takes it home. The tires have been upgraded to the correct new reproduction tires. The original tires have been replaced with the new reproductions. The car has been properly preserved and runs. The window sticker has never been removed. For more info and photos email me direct [email protected]
NEED A CAR TRANSPORTED? -
Whether you need an open transport or enclosed transport we highly recommend Sal Hamed. Sal is a broker with a number of transporters and can get you the best price. He knows what you expect as he personally owns a 9,000 mile original Grand National and is a customer of ours. You must use my name when contacting him to get a special price. His email is [email protected] We highly recommend his services!
OUR RARE PARTS LISTING AND SHIPPING CHARGES -
Concerning our Rare Parts. We have reduced slightly the dollar amount in order to qualify for free shipping. The total of your order on the listed Rare Parts is now $75. If your order of the rare listed parts falls short of $75 you must add $15 to cover shipping. This is due to UPS raising their fees beginning last month. You hit $75 and we cover shipping. Below $75 you have to tack on $15 additional. We also use the mail system on small parts so you will notice on some parts the price includes USPS shipping.
CANADIAN CUSTOMERS -
Due to the many issues concerning shipping to Canada and the problems that arise when we back order something which costs us more money and also you the customer due to customs we have a new system effective immediately. You must call our office with your order. We will determine what is in stock and put aside for your order. You would only pay for what we have in stock at that point in time. You in turn have to arrange the shipping either with USPS, UPS, or with Fed EX from our Chicago location. Larger items would still be shipped from our PA location. This is effective immediately.

TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -
If you have an idea or tip or a product idea, send it to my email [email protected]
Here is a tip I have used in the past for masking off decals, the yellow wording on brake bowls, and repainting the black on the 1986-1987 Grand National wheels. Both can be a problem to mask off properly so what I do is dip my finger in lithium grease and carefully spread it around the area I don’t want any overspray to get it. It's not a perfect solution, but it comes pretty close!

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be used if you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me directly - [email protected] - and I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again.
Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING -
Remember, the weekly Inner Circle always goes out at 3 pm eastern time so subscribers all have the same equal chance on the Rare Parts. All our parts generally are priced to sell and priced below what others offer. Also our used items are exactly as described. Emails are acknowledged in the order we receive them regardless of when I respond as I am not always by a computer and I only use a flip phone. It's best to email as soon as possible with your request(s) as many of our items sell within the first hour! Do NOT call the office on the listed Rare Parts as you could lose out by someone beating you with an email.

Remember if the total of what you purchase on the Rare Parts falls short of $75 we will charge $15 extra for shipping.
