Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 05-22-2013
RARE BRAND NEW GM PARTS IN THE ORIGINAL BOXES -
By rare, I mean at least to me they are rare to find at this point in time.
One is the diecast console upper plate for the Turbo Regals. I don’t recall ever having a new one of these at any time in the past. It comes complete with the GM applique on it, and the shifter indicator lens is also on it. In checking the GM part number, in 1987 this console plate listed for $68.75. I do not see the part number in my later 2001 GM price book. This means the part has been out of the GM system for well over a dozen years or more.
PHOTO 1 - Here is a photo of the brand new GM original console diecast upper plate. GM simply refers to it as a "plate." The box it comes in is alongside it.
Equally as rare to find today, brand new and still in the GM box, would be a pair of the front grey padded molded armrests that attached to the door panels. For some strange reason, I can’t find that part number in either my 1987 GM Price Book or the 2001 GM Price book. As many of you realize, interior items had a very short life span in the GM parts system.
PHOTO 2 - We show both left and right brand new grey padded molded armrest with the factory GM boxes. The tag on the one box shows a 9-14-89 date. This would be the date of purchase. (A coincidence as my birthday is that same month and day 9-14!) Maybe I should play the lottery?
In most cases, on discontinued items it's usually hard to find a pair or set of anything still brand new GM. Usually you find only one side.
PHOTO 3 - Shows two unique wrecked Grand Nationals sitting at Richard Clark's complex in Burlington, North Carolina. He refers to these as "matching bookends." The car in the top photo you can clearly see took a major hit by a telephone pole or a tree in the driver's door. In the lower photo, which was a T-Top example, the car took a major hit in the passenger's door, either by a telephone pole or a tree. In either case, a telephone pole or tree are virtually unmoveable objects!
EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES -
It's said that everyone makes mistakes. The exception is banks, from what I am told.
One company that makes mini diecast toy cars is Racing Champions. Back in 1999 they did a 24K gold car marking Motor Trend's 50th Anniversary. They did a limited run of 9,999, according to the package. Each car was numbered on the bottom with a serial number as well. This serial number can’t be seen until it is removed from the package.
The mistake is in the packaging of this particular 24K gold example. The car is clearly a Turbo Regal and even has the bump on the hood. Yet the large nameplate they packaged with the car says "Chevrolet," complete with the bowtie logo. Even the GM license agreement on the back only says Chevrolet and Dodge and makes no mention of Buick.
PHOTO 4 - Here is the 50th Anniversary Racing Champions 24K Gold Chevrolet? Being a special edition, one would think someone would have checked who had a working knowledge of what certain car models look like before the final packaging in China was done! Regardless, I don’t think having a stash of these will bring you much fortune in years to come. Better off having one of those postage stamps with the inverted airplane or a Honus Wagner baseball card. They claim 57 of his baseball cards exist. Perhaps you can find the 58th card? The stamp was issued in 1918 only 100 slipped out to the public. One recently fetched just a tad over half million dollars. Both of those mistakes are a proven and sought after items. Also both offer a good return based on their original selling price!
BREAKING NEWS -
I just been informed by Jim Chaudrue that the MAGNA CLUB will be the "Featured Car Club" at GM at Carlisle in the weekend of June 21st through the 23rd. They will have a 20’ x 20’ tent. They want to see a good showing of Turbo Regals at this year's GM at Carlisle. No reason other GM clubs should out number Turbo Buicks. So, if there are any local Turbo Buick guys going, register under MAGNA, and you can hang out with them at their tent.
Carlisle is an excellent location for a car event. Also, because I am a guest speaker, they are giving me a special vendor spot near the buildings. We will have a small array of our parts available. Any parts you have to trade or cores for a Letter of Credit, be sure to bring them. This is my first time for giving two different seminars in one day.
ANOTHER URGENT REQUEST -
Once again we find ourselves needing original stock AC Delco correct 1986-1987 Turbo Regal mass air flow sensors. The housing CANNOT be broken. Screens are not important. Each one that meets these requirements is worth $25 in Letter of Credit to us. Help us help other owners keep their cars original.

Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected].
