Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 05-11-2016 -
OUR OPEN HOUSE - SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 2016
Our Open House was a great success! We had 74 Turbo cars in attendance, according to Jason who counted them. This was one of our biggest Open House events in the past several years.
Fortunately, we caught a break in the weather as it rained all day the day before and it rained all day the day after our event. It remained completely dry on Saturday.
The No Reserve Auction saw some very competitive bidding on several items, including the Molly diecast car. THE GNX wheels did not get a starting bid, however they did sell at the end of the day. Some of the Hellcat items sold, such as several hats, several key chains, one shirt and one cooler. The Hellcat banner featuring the green Hellcat did not sell.
My wife’s sister and her husband brought 100 Philadelphia pretzels and they were complete consumed within 2 hours! Over 120 Yum Yum donuts were all gone in the morning.
Russ and Nancy had some very neat items for the PBS raffle, including a 60-inch flat screen TV.
Unfortunately, one person that drove to our event from Ohio hit a deer going home that night, and did over $7,000 worth of damage to his new car! He was not hurt and also commented he was glad his Grand National was not involved.
Our trophies were awarded as follows at our Open House.
LONG DISTANCE AWARD -
The Buick Turbo Regal that drove the longest distance, not trailered.
Went to Phil Guisto. Phil drove his Grand National from New Hampshire.
KIRBAN'S CHOICE AWARD -
The Buick Turbo Regal selected by Kirban as his overall favorite.
Went to the nicest Turbo Regal, a 4,100-mile Grand National from the Scranton area, owned by Joe Denninger.
TLC AWARD -
The Buick Turbo Regal needing the most "TLC" Tender Loving Care.
Went to Steve Warren from New York, who also brought his wife and little baby to the event
PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows some of the raffle items. The M&Ms count was in a nice copper bird feeder, which the winner received. The winner also got a matching copper metal mailbox, which can be seen in the same photo. The top right photo shows some of the auction items with the GNX wheels all the way in the back. The bottom left photo shows the Green Hellcat Banner and our new aluminum brake drum and the flip-down stay-down license plate display. The bottom right photo shows 4 different formats of the acrylic signs that we can do. These signs can be printed from a digital photo, a collage, artwork, and it can also have a printed background.
PHOTO 2 - We show in the top left a super mint stock-looking engine. The top right photo shows one that features a lot of chrome with blue wires and hoses. The bottom left shows a highly-modified engine with a one-piece downpipe and special valve covers. The bottom right photo shows another stock engine.
PHOTO 3 - The top left photos show cookies with the Power 6 logo on them that were made by one of the New York club members. The box reads, “FROM EMPIRE MUSCLE CARS - BRONX AUTOMOTIVE.” These were made with white chocolate over an Oreo cookie! The top right photo shows some of the people in attendance when we were announcing the raffle winners. The bottom left photo shows some of the displays we had in our warehouse. The bottom right photo shows one of the displays that the owner had laid out in their trunk.
PHOTO 4 - Shows various photos of the 74 Turbo Regals we had in attendance. It was a great turnout. We appreciate everyone coming out to support the Buick community. Thanks for the generous donations (Mike Barnard from Spoolfool, Rich Warner, Nick Micale, to name a few) to benefit Molly Memorial Education Fund and to the generous donors for the PBS raffles. We appreciate it.
OUR NEWEST PRODUCT -
In our last Inner Circle prior to our Open House, we hinted about a clever new product that we had in the works. That product is now available. As I mentioned before, the idea came to me a few weeks back and was based on an item that I get at the junkyards. It’s a GM part that should have come on or cars but instead came on other GM cars during the 1980s and 1990s.
The part is the flip-down stay-down rear license plate bracket that makes refueling easier than fighting the spring tension on the stock rear license plate bracket. Also the springs on the original license plate bracket are plain steel and prone to rust.
I presented the challenge to the company across from our warehouse, since he works with metal and springs all the time.
The idea was to make a simple kit that did not require any holes to be drilled in the original license plate bracket and have the spring be made in stainless so it wouldn’t rust.
I am happy to say this challenge has been met. We have the part in stock.
It comes with easy-to-follow illustrated directions. It could be the best $19.95 you spend! I have one on our personal Turbo-T.
Here is complete information:
1978-1988 All G-BODY (Including Buick Turbo Regals) -
FLIP-DOWN STAY-DOWN MODIFICATION KIT
TO CONVERT AN ORIGINAL REAR LICENSE PLATE BRACKET
GM used a flip-down stay-down license plate bracket on various other GM cars in the 1980s and 1990s. However, it was never a factory part on a G-body car.
If you’re like me, you hate fighting the heavy spring pressure on the factory license plate bracket when you are filling the gas tank.
The flip-down stay-down bracket has become a popular conversion to put on a G-body car, including the Turbo Regals, since it prevents accidental fuel spillage on the rear fillers. Unfortunately GM does not have any of these flip-down stay-down license plate brackets available and haven’t for years.
We have sold used ones for $25-$28 as fast as I could find them. As each year passes, finding them is getting harder and harder. The factory flip-down stay-down only used a single spring on one of the hinges.
We have designed a modification kit to convert an original rear license plate bracket to a flip-down stay-down license plate. Our new 3-piece modification kit includes 2 brackets and a spring. No holes need to be drilled in the original bracket. It eliminates the 2 factory springs on the existing license plate bracket. Those springs are prone to rust, since they are not stainless. The new spring in our kit is stainless and the 2 brackets are 24-gauge galvanized steel, so the parts will not rust.
The directions are easy-to-follow and include actual photos of the install on our personal Buick Turbo-T.
The end result - There are no rust issues with the new spring and brackets with the flip-down stay-down design along with the convenience of having your hands free to pump the gas. It also eliminates the risk of spilling fuel on the rear fillers. A bargain for under $20.
An excellent upgrade to help avoid gas spills.

HERE IS A DISTURBING FACT -
It is reported in a Live Science article that medical errors is the third leading cause of death in the U.S. The #1 cause is heart disease and #2 is cancer. While most of us fully understand that diseases are a constant challenge to find a remedy for, medical errors you would think would be fairly easy to eliminate or at least get the numbers down lower!
It is reported that medical errors in death is seldom ever reported as a “cause” of death. So, your loved one may have entered the hospital with a certain ailment and even if a medial error did occur, it could be reported that they succumbed to the disease rather than a medical mix up.
With that being said, it’s best to get out of the hospital as quick as possible so you don’t become a possible victim.
REASON TO AVOID FLOOD DAMAGE CARS -
Almost every day on the news some part of the southwest is getting hit with massive amounts of rain. Usually in a short period of time that causes severe flooding. Besides the damages to homes and businesses, you also have cars that become flood cars. There is no such thing as a car having minor flood damage. Insurance companies total them for a reason.
For example, the original muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s at most have 10 to maybe 15 pounds of wire in various harnesses throughout the car. Some of the new cars today, with a lot more options and computers, could have over 80 pounds of wiring harnesses in the cars and several computers to control everything. Water/moisture and wire connecters can cause major problems!
A flood car can open up an entire new set of quirky issues. Even the Turbo Regals, especially with T-Tops and the location of the ECM in the passenger’s side kick panel, can be at risk. If water trickles down the A-pillar, it can easily seep into the harness plug for the ECM and cause all kinds of issues.
NEW PRODUCTS - COLLECTIBLE SIGNS -
MOLLY DESIGNS -
PROTOTYPE GRAND NATIONAL 17.5″ x 10″ x 1/8″ ACRYLIC SIGN
We have designed a collectible sign to highlight Molly’s prototype Grand National. We personally received several prototype photos from Molly years ago, and combined 2 of the photos with the tag line “PROTOTYPE GRAND NATIONAL designed by “MOLLY,” MOLLY DESIGN.”
The design is printed on 1/8″ acrylic. It is printed on a machine that costs over $100,000 using a UV ink printing process is called “Direct Print.” Unfortunately, the printed sign is difficult to photograph because of reflections and light, but it looks great
It makes a great addition to your garage, office or show car display. It also makes a great gift for any Grand National enthusiast

“TOP TEN REASONS I OWN A BUICK GRAND NATIONAL”
17.5″ x 10″ x 1/8″ ACRYLIC SIGN
We have designed a collectible sign to highlight the “TOP TEN REASONS I OWN A BUICK GRAND NATIONAL.”
Along with some quotes, we included our mechanic guy cartoon. Here are the top ten reasons:
# 1 - I was impressed with the factory black paint job.
# 2 - I love the constant challenge of trying to eliminate oil leaks.
# 3 - I wonder where the “power” is in the operation of the power windows.
# 4 - My wife says I needed a spending outlet for my money.
# 5 - I can buy tires wholesale.
# 6 - I was told these cars are seldom stolen.
# 7 - My joy of buying a T-Top Grand National was quickly shattered during the first rain storm.
# 8 - I wanted to learn all about the powermaster brake system.
# 9 - “B-B-B-BAD-TO-THE-BONE” sounds good on the radio.
#10 - The uninformed think it’s a Monte Carlo…the informed won’t challenge me to race.
The design is printed on 1/8″ acrylic. It is printed on a machine that costs over $100,000 using a UV ink printing process is called “Direct Print.” Unfortunately, the printed sign is difficult to photograph because of reflections and light, but it looks great.

For Sale 1987 Buick Regal Turbo-T
This 1987 Regal Turbo-T has 39,000 original miles and still has really nice original factory white paint. Interior is in like new original condition although I did have a new headliner put in last year. Options include power windows, power antenna, G80 rear end and cruise control. Everything works as it should.
Last fall I had the air conditioning upgraded to the modern 134A and it now blows ice cold. The tires have under 1000 miles and the brakes are good as well. The motor runs very strong and the transmission shifts nice and firm. The car had the wrong tailpipes on it and incorrect mufflers, but I changed it all back to factory-style exhaust last fall.
The previous owner had it for 25 years before I bought it. It's really a turn key car - buy it and enjoy it.

AC DELCO COIL PACK
Many of the aftermarket coil packs do not have the 3 formed blocks, but rather one solid top piece. This AC Delco coil pack has the 3 formed blocks and is original and correct.
According to our Buick mechanic, if your car suffers any type of engine miss for one hour or more, it can permanently damage the coil pack. This could cause lower resistance in the amount of spark to the plugs. Coil packs suffer from corrosion on the terminals, which can cause problems as well.
This is another item you should keep on hand.
Another great engine restoration item.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

It’s been a hectic time being involved with 2 Buick events in a 10-day span.

When we check the links, they work fine. Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
