Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 05-04-2022 -
GNX 9 ACTUAL MILES AND WAS NEVER DEALER PREPPED -
A possible record may be set if this dealer in New Jersey, a personal friend of my son, gets the price they are seeking. The plastic is still on the seats and the floor. The plastic is also on the steering wheel. Window sticker is still on the passenger door window. Their ad says This GNX is for sale for a 6 digit price with the first number starting with a 3. We will verify if a sale happens before this Inner Circle goes to print. It makes one think, will a real GNX in say 5-10 years in similar condition hit the 7 digit figure?
ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS AND RELATED INFORMATION CONTINUED -
We have been writing about the importance of gathering any original documents, receipts, paperwork from the seller whenever you buy a collector car and even a basic used car. Here is the next installment on original documents. In my collection of window stickers and similar documents I did discover two very unusual documents which I show below as Photo 1.
PHOTO 1 - The document to the left is an original notarized death certificate I got with one of the cars I purchased many years ago. If a seller has died you have to get an original death certificate to go with the title. It can not be a copy. Ironically this person lived in the same town my wife and I grew up in Huntingdon Valley, PA.
The other document is an actual customer purchase order for a 1987 Turbo Regal. It is from a dealer in Hawaii! I have no idea how I got it. This original 1987 Buick Turbo customer purchase order from 4/30/87 is quite unusual for two reasons. Although no state is listed, the name of the company is printed on the purchase order and the zip code of the buyer is filled in. It shows a 96825 zip code. I just assumed it was the west coast. I was wrong. What caught my eye and may not be visible since it's printed so small on the very top line above the company name is the astounding statement “Established 1893”. The name is Schuman Carriage Company, LTD. This seemed very unusual to me. Turns out this was originally founded as a wagon company in 1893 in Hawaii. Later they sold Fords then switched to GM products (Buick for one) and closed its doors in 2004 at their location. That translates into around 111 years in business! That has to be a record for an automotive US car company. An amazing accomplishment to make the switch over from horse drawn carriages to cars. They have moved on and now operate an airplane and helicopter business in Hawaii although not at the same location they did for the first 111 years! However, they did retain one of their original carriages which is on display at their new location! I have no idea how I obtained this original Schuman customer purchase order. It may have been with one of the 330 Turbo Regals I sold over the years? Be interesting if you reside in Hawaii and have memories of this iconic Schuman Carriage Company! These two documents are probably the rarest two automotive related documents I have in my personal collection. I think without a doubt Schuman Carriage Company may hold the record for longest automotive dealership! I remember years ago that is how Studebaker started out making carriages before switching to cars.
THE FIRST TASTE OF SPRING -
For me personally it is seeing this burst of purple ground covering flowers that magically appear every Spring. Purple was my Mom’s favorite color. In the middle of this bed of purple ground covering flowers I have a bench and attached to the bench is a brass sign that my Dad had that reads “ACCEPT HIM AS YOUR SAVIOR OR MEET HIM AS YOUR JUDGE'' 11 Thessalionains 2:10-12. To the one side of this burst of purple Spring flowers I have placed a small Angel holding a bowl. In recent years every time I find a dime I put it in this bowl. It’s amazing how many dimes I randomly find. The bowl is now overflowing. It's a reminder of the story of the dime my Dad would always tell us five kids at Christmas. His Mom would always send him and his brother a dime at Christmas. They both went to Girard College in Philadelphia during the depression. Back then my dad would go to the movies which cost a dime back then.
BARN FINDS -
Along with Spring it sometimes opens up opportunities to see a “Barn Find” as they are usually referred to. A more precise phase would be a neglected find. Besides they are not only found in barns, but can sometimes be spotted stashed in a garage. Plus, in 99% of the time they are badly neglected depending on how long they were left in this state. Few weeks back on a road I travel frequently, a gentleman had just put out on his lawn for sale one of the rare Hemi powered Dodge Magnums. Within 2 hours I made a deal to buy it the next day for Castle Motors. I have bought 11 cars this year thus far for Castle Motors. Between dealing with used car dealers and private parties it can be challenging!
A few houses up from this house is another house with a small driveway that usually has so many cars parked that they use half the front lawn to park them. One car has had a car cover on it probably 5 years or longer. I can’t recall ever seeing this car uncovered. It appears to be an El Camino judging from the shape of the car cover and the wheels. This particular warm day the garage door was open. I stopped because I spotted what appeared to be a 1970s Corvette squeezed into the one corner of this oversized single garage bay. It appeared that this Corvette was being used as a shelf for various throw away items. In talking to the one kid he said it is his Moms Corvette. He said it is not for sale nor is the El Camino that also has seen better days. I figured his Mom must be trying to keep both cars to remember an earlier time when she enjoyed both the early 1970s Corvette and the later El Camino are too sentimental to sell. It was obvious the Corvette had not seen the road or even sunlight for a very long time.
I remember about 20 years ago in a nearby town they had trash pick up on a certain day and I discovered in certain neighborhoods people would neatly buddle up their newspaper for the trash pick up. I would drive down some of those streets and take the neatly bundled newspapers as I needed it for packing and shipping material. I remember this one house that was probably 75 years old or older needing repair had a 2 bay garage and the one garage door was partially off the track so it was always 1/3 open. I could see the back end of a stingray Corvette (1963-1967 vintage). I could tell it had been there for many years as huge weeds were growing up in the various cracks in the driveway. The Stingray had flat tires. I could tell it was a coupe and probably a 1964 thru 1967 version. Having passed there several years later that “barn find'' is gone. Many long time readers will recall the 5 barn finds (neglected cars) that I sold for one local owner. The first of which was a 1987 Grand National. Another one was a Pontiac Firehawk that still had the window sticker on the door glass. Each found a new home through our efforts.
PHOTO 2- The top left photo shows the spread of this purple flower across the front of our pole building. The top right photo shows a close up of this powerful Bible Verse on this brass plaque. The bottom left photo shows a close up of the Angel in the same flower bed with a stash of dimes. The bottom right photo shows this badly neglected late 1970s? Corvette squeezed into a corner of this oversized single bay garage.

A FEW WORDS FROM SOME OF OUR CUSTOMERS -
One long time customer who sold his Turbo Regal way back in 2008 says he continues to enjoy my weekly Inner Circle. Another customer who purchased the rear seat brace kit and the front brace set and plans to buy the front connecting brace shortly. He says it made a day and night difference in the way his car handles. He owns a 1984 Regal race car. He always recommends our parts. There is no question that these braces work because we have sold several thousand of them over the years. The front connecting set under the front end was actually a GM part that came on the Monte Carlo models. We used to buy them until we exhausted GMs supply of them. We then had them duplicated exactly and produced in the USA!. We expect to have these in stock in the next two weeks. Stiffen the Turbo Regal up and it brings back that new car ride. We also recommend installing the 4 or 6 lower body bushings that for whatever reason Buick did not install. Or, better yet, buy the complete new 22 piece kit which includes the special GNX upper bushing. We also had the special grade 8 bolts in a kit as it requires two different size bolts to do the job properly. All this will make a world of difference in your 30 plus year old ride.
HERE IS A COMPLETE RUN DOWN ON THE CARS I CURRENTLY REPRESENT -
In each case email me specifically which car perks your interest. We give the car model, location and price on each of the ones we now are working with the sellers. THERE ARE NICE USED CARS AND THEN THERE ARE EXCEPTIONAL USED CARS -
By exceptional the term I refer to these exceptional cars is “Kirban Quality”. We all have searched for a good used car usually done in a hurry because your current car died. Fortunately, because I have several cars I can take my time and seek out the outstanding examples. Miles is never a major concern if the owner has a stash of records, garaged the car etc and so on.
A QUICK WORD ON THE TURBO REGALS WE REPRESENT -
Especially concerning the Turbo Regals. The ones we represent in 99% of the cases are long time customers of ours. In most cases we are the only company advertising the cars for the seller. These are not cars that have been seen by other potential buyers and they turned down as not being worthy. In other words you're getting first shot at buying what we believe is the best example for the price we are asking. We are not selling perfection especially in the case of Turbo Regals that are now over 30 plus years old! But rather the best investment for the money. Each case we do allow some wiggle room on the price as we realize in most cases transporting and taxes is a necessary expense.
We have great success with JJ Best on financing and also deal with a transport broker that is a customer of ours and owns a Grand National. He can get enclosed or open transports in a very quick turn around and a price that in many cases would be hard to beat. What I am saying is we cover all the angles for both the seller and the potential buyer. I know personally I would not want to travel several hundred miles to look at acar that maybe 6 other potential buyers looked at and did not buy for various reasons. I got a lot of experience at not only buying Turbo Regals but other unique performance cars and even regular cars. It’s something I enjoy doing.
IN STOCK A REBUILT 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL STOCK TURBO BY LIMIT ENGINEERING -
Normally we don’t get them rebuilt until we have one sold then we send the core to Limit to rebuild. In this case we have one on the shelf ready to sell already rebuilt. The price is $895.95 which includes a $150 refundable core charge. Part #6848. Contact the office to make sure we have it still in stock!
WE CAN SELL YOUR CAR -
When the time comes you need to down size or you want to strike while the value is high we have a good success rate at finding buyers. Especially now with Spring and Summer fast approaching. We handle the advertising and answering the questions and weeding out the tire kickers. We never give out the exact location of your car. You decide on the price after any bargaining is done. The money goes directly from the buyer to your bank account. I have a flat commission based on the price span. This format has worked out very well for me for both the buyer and the seller. The buyer has more confidence about the car. The seller is not bothered with phone calls or emails. Most potential buyers know who I am. So whenever the time comes you want to sell your car, email me the particulars. I can explain the process to you which also allows you to sell the car as well. My email is [email protected] I can also help you determine the price. I can also take in a trade and pay you the seller the difference. I have worked with JJ Best in the past which is quite generous in granting loans. So you have plenty of options. We have sold 3 of the Grand Nationals in the last 6 weeks! For a total of over $135,000. All 3 sellers will gladly give me a good review. We also work with a broker that can handle transport both open and enclosed. This transport broker is a customer of ours and owns personally a 9,000 mile Grand National! He just had the last 3 cars I sold transported to their new homes! The car needs not be a Turbo Regal.
NEED A CAR TRANSPORTED? -
Whether you need an open transport or enclosed transport we highly recommend Sal Hamed. Sal is a broker with a number of transporters and can get you the best price. He knows what you expect as he personally owns a 9,000 mile original Grand National and is a customer of ours. You must use my name when contacting him to get a special price. His email is [email protected] We highly recommend his services!

TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -
If you have an idea or tip or a product idea, send it to my email [email protected]
Here is a tip I have used in the past for masking off decals, the yellow wording on brake bowls, and repainting the black on the 1986-1987 Grand National wheels. Both can be a problem to mask off properly so what I do is dip my finger in lithium grease and carefully spread it around the area I don’t want any overspray to get it. It's not a perfect solution, but it comes pretty close!

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be used if you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me directly - [email protected] - and I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again.
Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING -
Remember, the weekly Inner Circle always goes out at 3 pm eastern time so subscribers all have the same equal chance on the Rare Parts. All our parts generally are priced to sell and priced below what others offer. Also our used items are exactly as described. Emails are acknowledged in the order we receive them regardless of when I respond as I am not always by a computer and I only use a flip phone. It's best to email as soon as possible with your request(s) as many of our items sell within the first hour! Do NOT call the office on the listed Rare Parts as you could lose out by someone beating you with an email. Remember if shipping is not noted as included you must pay $15 extra.

You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
