Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 04-26-2017 -
VIETNAM VETERANS REUNION / TURBO REGALS / OPEN HOUSE -
It was an emotional day for me at our Open House as I anticipated and finally got to see Vincent Gogluicci, who I replaced in Nha Trang, Vietnam in 1967. It was 50 years ago that I last saw him and then it was only for a few days as he was going back state side. His job was to train me as I was his replacement as a photographer.
PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows a picture of me and him in front of the 17th Aviation Group Headquarters in Nha Trang, Vietnam. I was 19 at the time. The top right photo shows the display board Eileen made up showing various photos of Vietnam and pictures I took while stationed there in the Army. Pictures include photos of General Westmoreland. The bottom left photo shows (left to right) my son Darrell, Vince, me, and his 2 sons, Matt and Vinnie. Matt owns a Turbo Regal, and that is how I was able to contact Vince. His son Vinnie came down from the New England area to witness this unusual reunion. The photo to the bottom right shows me and my Dad. He had flown to Vietnam later that year as a private citizen. That trip would start my Dad on his writing career.
We hope to have more photos of this unusual reunion as soon as we get other photos.
IMPORTANT NOTE - If you took photos at the Open House, we would appreciate it if you could email us the photo files - [email protected]
OUR OPEN HOUSE RESULTS -
This event was the largest one since our 20th Reunion in 2007. Even with the weather being iffy, the turnout was great. We had a good number of first-time customers come. It rained off and on most of the day, but that did not diminish the excitement of the event.
BY THE NUMBERS -
By the numbers 144 Yum Yum donuts were gone in less than 2 hours. The 50/50 raffle netted the winner Tom Kasprzak $501! That was his winning share! When have you ever attended a
50/50 raffle at a car event and seen the winner get $501?
The No Reserve auction featured several spirited bids on some items. One neat coincidence at the No Reserve auction was the GNX diecast and matching number GNX print of GNX 137. It was won by a customer of ours that actually owns GNX #137! That got a round of applause among the crowd.
Speaking of GNX’s, one of our customers from New Jersey owns a 1987 Grand National and a GNX and the VIN numbers are sequential, something he never realized until later.
We had several customers bring parts to sell so people had a lot of choices to spend their money on items they wanted. We acquired a good amount of powermaster and turbo cores for which we are grateful. This will help other Turbo Regal owners.
Daniel Bisdnack, who owns my blue metallic 1987 Turbo-T test car, was there.
Another coincidence… The car that won the trophy for the car I liked the best was a dark blue metallic highly-modified Limited owned by Tom Kasprzak. Turns out Tom and Daniel both live within 15 miles of each other and never knew it until now! Tom was a double winner, taking home a trophy and the $501 from the 50/50 raffle. Tom has been a long-time customer of ours.
Taking the Long Distance Award for driving his 1987 Grand National all the way from Illinois was Richard Pikowsky. This was his first time to one of our Open House events. He also went to Spring Carlisle the day before, so I am pretty certain he was quite tired of walking by Saturday morning.
Unfortunately, we could not locate the winner of the TLC award. The car had New York tags. It was a Grand National with New York tags #CJK1389. If you are reading this or know who owns this car, please email me - [email protected]. Once we know who won and get the address, we will we will ship the trophy to you.
The happy winner of the set of brand new reproduction aluminum Grand National wheels was Michael Hanlon from Falls Village, Connecticut. Special thanz to Brian at GbodyParts.com for generously donating this set of wheels.
Among the crowd was one person that had come to our very first event in 1988 at our old house. He remembers that the GTOs far outnumbered the Turbo Regals at that event.
It took just under two hours to conduct the No Reserve Auction and hand out over $4,500 worth of donated items for the event. By then my voice was getting hoarse. A lot of people went home happy with their raffle winnings.
THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM -
PHOTO 2 - These four photos I took Friday after we had set everything up for the Open House. The top left photo and top right photo shows the newest products plus the new aluminum radiator alongside the original radiator. The bottom left photo shows the table packed full of raffle items. The bottom right photo shows trays of my used parts and shelves behind it with other parts we had for sale.
MORE PHOTOS FROM OUR OPEN HOUSE -
PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows my white Turbo-T next to an equally nice white 1986 T-Type. This 1986 white T-Type is extremely rare. The top right photo shows you why it is extremely rare, as it features the rare pillow-style Limited leather tan seats. Only a few 1986 T-Type Regals got those seats in 1986. NOTE - It retains the regular style door panels. You could attend Buick events for several years and may never see another one. I have only owned one in the 300-plus Turbo Regals I have bought and sold. The one I had was black with the same interior. They also made them with grey leather interior. This car originally came out of Texas. The bottom left photo shows a real nice custom install of a 1986-1987 Turbo engine is an early 1970s Chevy step side pickup truck. This truck was very nicely done. The bottom right photo shows the crowd of people lined up to sign in and purchase raffle tickets.
PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows our son’s huge F-650 Ford truck that got a lot of interest among the crowd. The top right photo shows just some of the crowd at the event. I estimate there was between 125 and 140 people in attendance throughout the day. The bottom photos show Tom Kasprzak’s award-winning metallic blue 1987 Turbo-T Limited. One nice touch he did was to have the wheels completely redone and he chrome plated the factory lug nuts. You could quickly tell that no expense was spared to create this extremely sharp car that runs as quick as it looks. It has clocked a ¼ mile time of 10.8 seconds at 125 mph. He drove it to our show from his home in Massachusetts.
A BIG THANZ TO ALL THOSE VENDORS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO OUR EVENT -
Again, I would like to thank all of those especially GBodyparts.com and Spoolfool for their tremendous donations to our recent Open House. All those raffle items made a lot of people happy.

And thanks to all the Buick enthusiasts that came out for this 30th Anniversary event.
RIP ERIN MORAN -
If you grew up in the 1970s, you remember the hit TV show “Happy Days.” Erin Moran played Joanie Cunningham, Richie Cunningham’s sister. Ron Howard played Richie who by any measurement has had a huge success, mostly on the other side of the camera. She was only 56 years old.
REPRODUCTION WINDOW STICKERS - DISCONTINUED -
We just received word that the GM Licensed Reproduction Window Stickers are discontinued from the manufacturer.
RUNNING OUT OF GREY PALLEX MATERIAL -
Currently we have sold out of every bit of the black pallex material. We only have small sections of the grey pallex material available. We have nothing over 3 feet in length in grey pallex. See the Rare Parts section for some of the various lengths of grey pallex available and pricing.

June 27th, 2017, 6 until 9 pm
The location is Castle Performance, 220 River Street, Lemont, Illinois. I have arranged with Paul Castle and the local Buick GS Club to coordinate this event since I will be in Illinois as a speaker later that week at the GTO National convention.
NOTE - If you are planning on attending this seminar at Castle Performance in Lemont, Illinois, please email - [email protected] so we have an idea how many people to expect. I will have a specific gift for each attendee.
I will have some Turbo parts with me and the usual M&Ms contest. This should be a fun time. Mark the date on your calendar. I have a special guest that will also be attending, that has been making a certain Turbo Regal part for us for over 25 years. You probably have it on your Turbo Regal.
We will have a special gift for all attendees! Hope to see many of my Illinois customers there.
Paul and the local GS Club request you bring a lawn chair. Food and drinks will be provided. If you reside anywhere near Lemont, Illinois, we hope you can attend and bring your Turbo Regal. They have not yet told me my speaking times.
My granddaughter, Devyn hopes to go with me to help. With Chrysler introducing the Demon this April, my guess is they will have several Demons on display at Carlisle. Hope to see some of my customers at this event. I am as well versed with early Hurst history as I am with Turbo Regals.
As with all my seminars, I will be doing a M&Ms contest in honor of my parents. The Don Garlits autographed connecting rod will make a nice prize!

TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -
If you have a tip or a discovery that you found that works on your Turbo Regal, drop us an email giving us the details so we can pass the info on to our readers. Remember, even with my knowledge, I don’t know it all. Simply email me at - [email protected]
TIP FROM KIRBAN -
One of the nicest interior upgrades you can make is to update your radio to the later GM CD player that looks factory and uses the original brackets. Avoid at all costs any aftermarket radio the sound may be better but in the long run it can affect the value of your car especially if you had to cut your stock radio plug ends off.
CORES NEEDED -
Here is the information on our credits for cores.
HUGE URGENT NEED - Powermaster brake units. The must be complete. We will issue you a letter of credit for $125 for each acceptable core. Currently we will also buy them outright.
URGENT NEED - 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering wheels. They must not be bent or rusted. We will issue a $75 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.
URGENT NEED - TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $150 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -
1978-1988 G-Body (Including 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal Models) -
Reproduction 4″ x 10″ REAR SPEAKERS (2) SET
It has been hard to locate a suitable 4″ x 10″ speaker for the 1984-1987 Turbo Regal rear package shelf. The space is too narrow to use anything but a 4″ x 10″ speaker. It must also fit the factory cage bracket.
We found this suitable reproduction 8 ohm speaker. You do have to replace the connector ends, since the factory plug on the harness will not fit the terminals on this new speaker.
These fit the factory metal cage that GM used to secure the original rear speakers.
Over the years, age and sunlight have probably cracked the original speakers. These are a perfect replacement.
A nice upgrade for any interior restoration.

EXTERIOR SOLAR LED MOTION LIGHT PANEL -
This exterior solar LED motion light panel is a neat compact product that fills a need for any home owner, shop owner, or apartment owner. It’s a simple and inexpensive method to light up a walkway at your house, or garage door way.
Since it’s powered by the sun, it means zero electric costs!
Panel is compact, just 4" x 6" x 1/2". The housing is white. It has 36 LED lights that equals the output of a 100 watt incandescent bulb! It does this with zero costs to your electric bill.
It has 3 different modes that you can set. MODE 1 - It can come on at dusk on low power and stay on until dawn. MODE 2 - It can be set to come on at dusk on low power, go to full power by motion, then revert back to lower power. MODE 3 - It can be set to go on by motion at dusk on full power and turn off after about 10 seconds if no motion is detected or activate by motion walking by it.
Most small solar powered outside motion lights are rated at only 20 to 50 watt and less than 400 lumens, unless you buy the larger ones. This one equals a 100 watt incandescent light and 450 lumens. Not only is this compact and bright enough to light any walk way or entrance, it is priced below most units available in stores.
You can mount this anywhere outside as long as it gets direct sunlight. The ideas are endless. It pays for itself since it draws no electric energy!
SPECIFICATIONS -
Compact size - 4" x 6" x 1/2" - Weighs 6 ounces - 50,000-hour operating life
450 lumens / zero energy usage - Equal to a 100 w incandescent bulb -

The top right shows just how bright the 36 LED lights are when they go on. The lower left photo shows our back door entrance at our home lit with a normal 100 watt bulb. TRANSLATOR CUSTOM-MADE BLACK MOUNTING BRACKET
When converting your car to a modern Mass Air Flow sensor, such as an LT1 or LS1 style sensor, a translator is needed. This is a custom-made mounting bracket to hold the Mass Air Flow Sensor Translator.
This bracket provides a simple, yet effective way of mounting the Translator in a convenient location.
This clever bracket was designed and produced by one of our customers. He saw a need to eliminate have the translator wire tied under the hood.
The bracket is made in acrylic and painted black. It mounts using existing holes. NO modifications are made to the car or to the translator. It also leaves enough space below the bracket to access the headlight wiring or if you have the charcoal canister and stock intake or even a 4" Cold Air Intake pipe.
Once installed, the custom-made bracket is barely visible.
The bracket comes with a spacer and easy-to-follow directions.
Our photo on the left shows the bracket and the photo on the right shows it installed on a car.
NOTE - This bracket will not work if you retain the factory air cleaner box.

VIETNAM VETERANS REUNION / TURBO REGALS / OPEN HOUSE -
It was an emotional day for me at our Open House as I anticipated and finally got to see Vincent Gogluicci, who I replaced in Nha Trang, Vietnam in 1967.

Currently we have sold out of every bit of the black pallex material. We only have small sections of the grey pallex material available. We have nothing over 3 feet in length in grey pallex. See the Rare Parts section for some of the various lengths of grey pallex available and pricing.

KIRBAN SEMINAR TURBO REGAL EVENT - LEMONT, ILLINOIS -
June 27th, 2017, 6 until 9 pm
I would love to meet some of my customers that may have never been to the GS Nationals. This is a rare opportunity, since I don’t travel long distances much anymore.

SPECIFICATIONS -
Compact size - 4" x 6" x 1/2" - Weighs 6 ounces - 50,000-hour operating life
450 lumens / zero energy usage - Equal to a 100 w incandescent bulb -
Motion activated - 3 different modes - White IP65 Housing for outside usage - high-density polymer, aluminum and plastic laminate (protects against dust and low pressure jets of water)
Lithium battery 3.7 volts 2000mAh - Solar panel 6 v, 2.5 w
While larger versions are readily available at various stores, few choices exist for a compact unit that can easily be installed to light up walk ways or entrances for your home or garage.
Our top left photo shows the actual packaging and the Solar Motion Exterior Light. It comes with directions to set the mode you want. The mounting hardware is included.
