THE IMPACT OF THE VIRUS -
Gas prices have dropped considerably, some as low as $1.50 a gallon. The downside - none of us can really enjoy the cost savings. It’s a shame most of us can’t enjoy the lower cost of fuel since we are home bound!
The crime rate is way down. It’s probably too risky for criminals to risk getting the virus. The air is much cleaner with less cars on the road.
As an Army veteran, I have been told by people, “Thank you for your service.” I think that catch phrase will cross over to anyone in the health system that we see.
Car loans now can go 84 months (7 years.) That is more years than most people normally keep their cars. The downside - all you can do is sit in your new car and take in the new car smell since driving is now so limited. In many cases, your first car payment is not due for 60 to 90 days. It makes sense since driving may not happen much before 60 or 90 days from now.
Like many of you, we follow the nightly count of the dead for the USA, as the experts try and nail down when it will flatten out and what hot spots may pop up next in the U.S.

TWO NEW REPRODUCTION 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL DECALS IN THE WORKS –
We have two new decals in the works that would have appeared on the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. I had original decals in my collection from years ago. To my knowledge, these have not been reproduced. Both are quite visible on the car. They will be sold as a pair. We should have them available in the next 10 days or so. One is being made this week. Watch for updates.

LIGHTENING THE MOOD DURING THESE TROUBLE TIMES –
During these troubling times, I wanted to picture two things that hopefully have a calming effect.
PHOTO 4 - The photo on the left shows the flower bed alongside my pole building comes up every year in the spring. The beautiful purple flowers are in full blossom. The photo on the right shows my two cats that reside in my pole building. The one on the left is Squeaky who I got at one of those shelters maybe 2 years ago to keep my other cat company. The other cat I call Fuzz Ball, since she is a long hair cat. She simply showed up at our house 4 or 5 years ago. We also have an inside cat that is at least 19 years old. Other than sleeping 22-23 hours a day, she is in remarkable good health. She can still leap high onto chairs, which is nothing short of amazing at her age. The value of having pets during this time is something you can’t truly measure. Sometimes I think they can sense something is wrong.
BACKTRACKING TO LAST WEEK –
This is referring to the story in last week’s Inner Circle about my accident near Rapid City, South Dakota. Prior to that trip a good friend of mine, who was a Studebaker collector, had worked out a deal to buy a Studebaker tractor in the mid-west part of the country. We figured it out he would be coming back about the same time I was heading west. We then calculated when our paths on the highway would meet. He would be driving east and I would be driving west. We then decided, should the timing work out, I would be the one to turn around and we would meet for breakfast or lunch depending on the timeframe.
Remember, this was in 1973 before people carried cell phones. Also, since he would be driving a Studebaker tractor trailer and I would be driving a Studebaker pickup truck, we figured spotting each other would not be an issue. I can’t recall what midwestern state our paths crossed but we were able to meet up.
I would see him years later at the Studebaker National convention where I was a speaker on ZDDPlus. Studebaker, at least years ago, had a huge club membership.
Back in the 1970s, I owned 7 or 8 different Studebakers. They had some great cars and trucks, just not a big enough following or resources to compete with the big three automakers.
THE SAGA OF SELLING THE 1985 REGAL V8 DURING A CRISIS –
I recently sold the 1987 Grand National with T-Tops for the owner that was local to me. I sold that car in 24 hours.
The 1985 Regal V8 I been trying to sell since January has required a lot of patience. About 3 weeks ago we did get a call from a person in Texas who found out about the Regal. He was not a customer of mine and he knew nothing about me. Plus, I don’t think he had ever bought a car sight unseen.
I then told him to google my name and go on any Turbo Regal website and research my name. I probably sent him 2 dozen photos. He then wanted to see a video, which was something I had never had to do on any car sale. I had my granddaughter Devyn do a video and send it to him. The video obviously proved the photos I sent him were current photos.
Finally, a deal was struck. To avoid any hiccups, I said the agreed money would have to be wired direct to my seller’s bank account. He lined up a transport company to pick up the car. I reminded him the car would not leave my property until the seller knew the funds were in his account.
Before 10 am the next morning, the trucking company is calling me to come get the car. I told them it can’t happen until I hear from the seller that the funds are in his account. Because of the virus, banks here don’t open now until 10 am or later. Meanwhile, the truck is only 50 miles away. On top of that, it’s a tractor trailer so it would never be able to get down my street. I told the transport company that it needs to have driver call me so I can tell him where I can meet him once the funds are in the bank.
Around 10:30 I get word the funds are in my seller’s account. I then call the truck driver and give him an address where I would meet him. I tell him call me when he is about 10 miles away. That morning the weather was perfect. The driver calls me, so I leave in the car to go meet him. Within minutes of meeting up with the transport truck, the sky opens up and it rains literally buckets with 40-plus miles-an-hour winds. He sits in his truck and I sit in the Regal waiting for this massive storm to pass.
About 25 minutes later it passes. Carrie picks me up to drive me home. I get home and in the exact spot where the Regal was parked an hour earlier is a 5-foot probably 30-40lb tree limb sitting exactly where the Regal was an hour earlier. It would have surely done major damage to the Regal.
Call it good karma or good luck, it’s was a silver lining for sure for what proved to be a fairly tough car sale during difficult times.

Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use Fed Ex. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

Here are the options and the costs.
Ads can be from any individual or company. It needs to be automotive related, meaning it does not need be specifically Turbo Regal related. It can be for something for sale or something wanted.
Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.
Our weekly Inner Circle reaches over 3,400 members every Wednesday direct to their inbox. The Inner Circle also appears every Wednesday on our website with the related photos. Your ad would be visible to both groups of readers. So, the exposure to your ad is well over 3,200 potential buyers.

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
Reproduction GRAND NATIONAL FENDER & TRUNK EMBLEMS
We are now offering high-quality reproduction Grand National emblems for the front fenders and trunk lid. All 1986-1987 GNs used three emblems; one on each fender and one on the driver’s side trunk lid. The 1984-1985 GNs only used two emblems; one on each fender.
This striking silver, red, orange and black enamel-like finish emblem measures 5-3/8" x 1-7/8" and comes with a self-adhesive backing.
NOTE - If you need to replace an emblem on your car, it’s best to replace all three at the same time so they all look new.
Emblems also make a great addition to any car show display board.

Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

THE SAGA OF SELLING THE 1985 REGAL V8 DURING A CRISIS –
I recently sold the 1987 Grand National with T-Tops for the owner that was local to me. I sold that car in 24 hours.
The 1985 Regal V8 I been trying to sell since January has required a lot of patience. About 3 weeks ago we did get a call from a person in Texas who found out about the Regal. He was not a customer of mine and he knew nothing about me. Plus, I don’t think he had ever bought a car sight unseen.
I then told him to google my name and go on any Turbo Regal website and research my name. I probably sent him 2 dozen photos. He then wanted to see a video, which was something I had never had to do on any car sale. I had my granddaughter Devyn do a video and send it to him. The video obviously proved the photos I sent him were current photos.
Finally, a deal was struck. To avoid any hiccups, I said the agreed money would have to be wired direct to my seller’s bank account. He lined up a transport company to pick up the car. I reminded him the car would not leave my property until the seller knew the funds were in his account.
Before 10 am the next morning, the trucking company is calling me to come get the car. I told them it can’t happen until I hear from the seller that the funds are in his account. Because of the virus, banks here don’t open now until 10 am or later. Meanwhile, the truck is only 50 miles away. On top of that, it’s a tractor trailer so it would never be able to get down my street. I told the transport company that it needs to have driver call me so I can tell him where I can meet him once the funds are in the bank.
Around 10:30 I get word the funds are in my seller’s account. I then call the truck driver and give him an address where I would meet him. I tell him call me when he is about 10 miles away. That morning the weather was perfect. The driver calls me, so I leave in the car to go meet him. Within minutes of meeting up with the transport truck, the sky opens up and it rains literally buckets with 40-plus miles-an-hour winds. He sits in his truck and I sit in the Regal waiting for this massive storm to pass.
About 25 minutes later it passes. Carrie picks me up to drive me home. I get home and in the exact spot where the Regal was parked an hour earlier is a 5-foot probably 30-40lb tree limb sitting exactly where the Regal was an hour earlier. It would have surely done major damage to the Regal.
Call it good karma or good luck, it’s was a silver lining for sure for what proved to be a fairly tough car sale during difficult times.

We discovered that Fed Ex will not forward any packages that are sent to the PO Box or to our old address in Plumsteadville. Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use Fed Ex. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $150 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.
If you ship to us, the post office is the cheapest method. Pack the item(s) with a note with your name, address and phone number. This is the only item we are currently accepting as cores.

Good news - We now accept Classified Ads in our weekly Inner Circle emails. Over the years several customers have asked about placing an ad in our weekly Inner Circle.
Here are the options and the costs.
Ads can be from any individual or company. It needs to be automotive related, meaning it does not need be specifically Turbo Regal related. It can be for something for sale or something wanted.
Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.
Our weekly Inner Circle reaches over 3,400 members every Wednesday direct to their inbox. The Inner Circle also appears every Wednesday on our website with the related photos. Your ad would be visible to both groups of readers. So, the exposure to your ad is well over 3,200 potential buyers.

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
Reproduction GRAND NATIONAL FENDER & TRUNK EMBLEMS
We are now offering high-quality reproduction Grand National emblems for the front fenders and trunk lid. All 1986-1987 GNs used three emblems; one on each fender and one on the driver’s side trunk lid. The 1984-1985 GNs only used two emblems; one on each fender.
This striking silver, red, orange and black enamel-like finish emblem measures 5-3/8" x 1-7/8" and comes with a self-adhesive backing.
NOTE - If you need to replace an emblem on your car, it’s best to replace all three at the same time so they all look new.
Emblems also make a great addition to any car show display board.

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
