Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 04-19-2017 -
BREAKING NEWS FOR OUR OPEN HOUSE THIS WEEKEND -
I just got word the other day that our Open House this year will take on a special meaning for me personally. Vincent Goglucci, who I last saw in Nha Trang, Vietnam in the fall of 1966, will be coming with his son who is a Buick customer of ours.
I replaced Vincent as the photographer for the 17th Aviation Group in 1967 as he returned state side. I later became the editor for the 17th Aviation Group newspaper called the “Eagle Talons.” This will be the first time we have seen each other in 50 years. Many of you may recall the article I did last year about the coincidence. His son owns a Turbo Regal and never realized that his father and I had this connection from over 50 years ago.
I am really looking forward to this and have found some of my photos from Vietnam, even my short-timer’s stick. My dog tag has always been on my key chain.
This reunion is really special and it’s neat to share it with so many of our customers firsthand.
When I was looking for the photos from Vietnam, if found copies of the “Eagle Talons” newspaper, which I was the editor for back then.
Most important, I even found a photo of Vince and I standing side by side in front the 17th Aviation Group office where we worked. It’s hard to believe that after 50-plus years we will come face to face again under far better circumstances.
Of course, the last time we saw each other, he was extremely happy as he was going back to the states in probably less than a week and I was less happy since my year in Vietnam was just starting!
Our son Darrell and his crew have been working around the clock and expects to have his customized Ford F-650 done and on display. Wait until you see the workmanship he has poured into this Ford truck, taking a four-door truck and converting it to a six door to look like a 2017 model. Not to mention all the other personal touches he has done. The kid has talents far greater than me.
The latest weather report looks good.
This is one event you don’t want to miss! Our granddaughter Devyn, who starts Penn State college this Fall, will be helping with the various raffles.
UPDATE ON OUR UPCOMING OPEN HOUSE IMPORTANT -
This event is shaping up to be one of our biggest events since our 20th Anniversary in 2007 when we had Molly come.
We just received more raffle items this week –
Rich Warner, Shine Enterprises, has sent over $600 of items - www.mr-shine.com.
Mark Huffman, TR Custom Parts - buickgn.com - sent us 5 $50 Gift Certificates.
We have a huge assortment of many of the small knick knack items you may need. Also we will have a Show Special on the stock rearview mirror and the upgraded lighted rearview mirror.
We have 75 show plaques made for the event that will be available as well.
The M&Ms are all counted for the contest. This is something I do at every event in honor of my parents.
Because of the anticipated crowd this year, nobody will be admitted inside our building until 9 am. The area directly behind our shop entrance will be for the food vendor and vendors only. Please park in the main parking area.
Raffle tickets will be available all morning up until show time!
We will have three different raffles.
One raffle is specific for one winner of the reproduction Grand National wheels.
One winner for the 50/50.
Last raffle container will be for drawings for the remaining donated raffle items - almost $5,000 (this total includes the wheels.)
Tickets will be available all morning up until show time!
Early indications are we have quite a few first-time customers attending. If you are coming in Friday night and staying in the Quakertown area, email me your cell number. I always meet up with Jason from Canada around 8-9 Friday night for dinner in Quakertown. You are welcome to join us for dinner or dessert. I need your cell number to advise you as to the exact time.
The restaurant is called the Quakertown Family Restaurant, located at 25 N West End Blvd, Quakertown, PA. It is open 24 hours and has a separate room in the back that we can use. This restaurant is less than one block north on Route 309 off Route 663 near the motels. If you have not emailed me with a count of the people in your party, you must email me. The plan is to meet around 8 pm. I will call you that evening as the time may change. Already we have almost a dozen people coming for dinner Friday night. Again, email me - [email protected] - with your cell number.
Also, remember on the large items and discontinued items listed elsewhere in this Inner Circle, you must contact our office and pay for it in advance if you want to be sure we have it aside for you for pick up. This is very important. Already a number of the big items have been reserved.
Paul Castle is bringing the stencil kits for the hood pads, plus parts to sell. The few hood pads we have left are at an excellent price. We expect them and all the other discontinued items to sell out.
Pete Hoffman will also be set up as a vendor. He has a huge array of used parts.
Already we have heard from people from Canada, Michigan, Virginia, and Illinois that are planning to attend for the first time.
For first timers, you will see that we have a nice array of used tagged and bagged items. We will have a good variety of literature for sale. Almost all our items are priced at $1 to $35.
The No Reserve Auction is always a hit. This year it features several GNX items and some of the remaining grey pallex seat material. As long as the starting bid is met, the item has no reserve and goes to the highest bidder.
Plus, you get to have free Yum Yums donuts and Philadelphia pretzels while they last! Last, but, not least, is we have almost $5,000 worth of donated items to award at our raffles. Everyone should go home a winner!
Eileen’s sister Liddy and her husband Bob will be bringing a huge tray of Philadelphia pretzels, which will be available at no charge! They were a hit last year.
We have a very unique item made up just for this event. I have personally signed each on the back with the words “30th Anniversary 1 of 20.” This is a great item for your desk. I just made 20 of them for this 30th Anniversary event.
If you have parts to sell, you are welcome to bring and set up behind your vehicle. All I ask in return is something donated for our raffle and I would like first option on your items, either in trade or cash.
Remember to bring any cores that we need. It also does not matter what type of car you bring. This is not a “show” type event. Naturally, we expect most of the cars will be Turbo Regals.
We will have our personal white Turbo-T on display. Looking back, I bought this car out of Ohio in March of 2006. I remember getting to the seller’s house around 10 at night. It was brutally cold, maybe at most 15 degrees. I took a quick spin around the block in the car making sure everything functioned and there were no weird noises. I then did a walk around with a flashlight before loading the car for the trip home.
I put the Turbo-T up from sale back then, I think for $12,500. I had zero interest in the Turbo-T because the car had 75,000 miles on it. The car just sat in my pole building for several months. I had already sold my third test car, so I decided I would title this car and keep it. I figured it was important to have one Turbo Regal when you’re in the business.
Today, anyone that sees it realizes the car is an extremely nice example and the miles is not even a consideration as to its value. First timers to our Open House can see just how nice this Turbo-T is. While the engine bay area and interior is 99% stock, the suspension has virtually every upgrade done that we sell. Car rides on the vintage Kirban-style GNX 16" x 8" wheels. Every possible method to lighten the car has also been done. Plus, I have all the records including the Window Sticker for the car from the original owner.
Since this is our 30th year and with such a large assortment of donated raffle items, some of you may be coming in Friday night and may be looking for a motel in our area.
The closest town to us is Quakertown and it has 5 major motels. Quakertown is about 20 minutes from our location. The motels there are Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, Hampton Inn, Spring Hill Suites, and Quality Inn. The Marriott and Holiday Inn Express are both fairly new motels.
All the major motels are located by the northeast extension of the PA Turnpike and Route #663.
TWO NEW OLDSMOBILE 442 SEAT ARMOUR COVERS -
PHOTO 1 - The photo to the left shows the GM Licensed early 442 Seat Armour seat cover we had done. This logo covers the 1964-1967 Oldsmobile 442 models. The photo to the right shows the later 442 logo which covers 1968 through 1988 Oldsmobile models. We have an exclusive on these two new designs. We will be making it available to all the various Oldsmobile suppliers soon. You can contact our office if you want one. Currently we have no plans to put this on our website.
PHOTO 2 - This photo shows the Chrysler Licensed Hellcat logo we had done on the Seat Armour. Again, we had it made exclusively for our company. We will be offering it to the various Chrysler vendors shortly. You can contact our office if you want one as currently we have no plans to add this to our website.
NEW 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL REPRODUCTION RADIATOR -
We will have this new reproduction radiator on display at our Open House this coming Saturday. Not only does this shed 10 pounds over the original brass copper radiator, but because it is 100% unpainted aluminum, it is more efficient over your 30-year-old radiator. It has two oversized cores inside. Nick Micale in Arizona has been testing it in one of his cars over the last several months. All the stock filter lines attach like the original ones do.
We supplied Max Performance with the original radiator to copy over a year ago. We expect to have them in stock in late May. The price will be just $399.95.
PHOTO 3 - Shows the new 1986-1987 Turbo Regal reproduction all aluminum radiator made by Max Performance under their Cold Case brand.
PAST MEMORY -
Over the last 30 years we have sold many different novelty items related to the Turbo Regals, besides a variety of Turbo Regal T-shirts, etc.
I happen to be at O’Neil Buick the other day in Mike’s office and among his huge Turbo Regal diecast display he had one of the neon light displays we sold years ago. We must have only offered it for a very short time as I can’t find any description of it in our yearly catalogs.
PHOTO 4 - Shows a photo of one of these displays that I found in my photo collection. Ironically, I don’t even have one. From what I recall, the display was designed for the 1:24 or 1:25 scale cars.
BREAKING NEWS - HELLCAT COLLECTIBLES AT THE OPEN HOUSE -
I’m at Carlisle today and just bought a bunch of ultra-rare and one-of-a-kind collectibles - banners and shirts for the 2017 Hellcat.
I’m planning to auction some of these items at our Open House on Saturday.
OPEN HOUSE SPECIALS -
Here are some of our Open House Specials on some of our large parts and some parts we are discontinuing. In some cases, we show the number available of those items that are being discontinued.
If you contact our office now and pay for the item(s) you want, you will be assured your order will be put aside for pick up at our Spring Open House on April 22nd. That is the only way we will hold the specific part(s) for you. In some cases, these parts are limited in quantity. On the larger items, like the Pypes exhaust system and hood pads, you will need to bring a SUV or truck to our event.
Below is the list of parts with the part number and the special Open House show price. If the part has a count with it that means it is being discontinued and that is all we have.

Remember, to avoid disappointment you need to pay for any of the above items you want in advance, so it is put aside with your name on it at our upcoming Spring Open House. So those parts are limited.
SPEAKING OF OUR APRIL 22ND OPEN HOUSE -
A business called “Tina’s Natural Products” is also having an Open House at the office next to our front entrance this Saturday from 11 am until 4 pm. She does aromatherapy single oils, blends, jewelry, etc. So, if you are interested or bringing your spouse, she may want to visit Tina’s Open House. Her website is - tinasnaturalproducts.com
Speaking of our April 22nd Spring Open House, you can hit 3 major car events on the same week.
First, you can attend the annual Spring Carlisle event that sits on 99 acres of nothing but used cars and parts for sale in nearby Carlisle, PA. That starts earlier that same week.
Friday you can travel to the New York Auto Show at the Jacob Jarvits Center and witness the unveiling of the Dodge Demon for the first time.
Last, but not least, attend our annual Spring Open house Saturday, which is about a two-hour drive from the New York City area.
These are three uniquely different car events, all nearby and in the same week.
ANOTHER COINCIDENCE -
Last Saturday I was at one of the major junkyards I go to and, as I was walking among the rows of GM cars, I overheard two guys talking about trying to locate any G-body cars. I told them very few exist in this yard and those that do are pretty much stripped. I asked him what model G-body car he had and he said he had a Grand Am, which is a fairly rare Pontiac model. He then said he had a restored 1965 GTO that he has had for over 30 years.
Once he said that, I figured he would know who I am. Once I told him my name, he was shocked. He could not believe it. He remembers coming to our old house in Furlong and buying a set of redone 1965 GTO taillight bezels that still look brand new on his car. I told him now we deal in Turbo Regals. I remarked 30 years ago we were both a lot younger!
McDONALDS SCORES BIG WITH 8-YEAR-OLD BOY -
McDonalds just got some of the best free publicity ever when it was reported a boy just 8 years old drove his 4-year-old sister in his Dad’s van to the nearby McDonalds for a cheeseburger. He figured out how to drive by watching You Tube videos and managed to make the trip without incident. McDonalds should keep that kid stocked with cheeseburgers as they did the best commercial ever for McDonalds in a format via the internet.
NEEDING TURBO WORK DONE IN THE VIRGINIA AREA -
If you need any turbo work done in the Virginia area, give Steve Vaillancourt a call. He does all aspects on these cars. He has done work on several Turbo Regals and actually owns one of the cars we sold years ago. It now pushes out 600 hp.
Steve’s cell is 757-560-2782 or email is - [email protected]
BY THE NUMBERS -
The new halo car from Chrysler/Fiat is called the “Demon,” which pumps out 850 HP. It will do 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and cover the ¼ mile in 9.65 seconds. It is the first U.S. production car that is capable of lifting the front wheels off the ground in its stock configuration.
It’s hard to envision this is the same company that produces the Fiat 500, which takes almost 10 seconds to hit 60 mph and does the quarter mile run in a blistering 17.3 seconds.
Production of the Demon is limited to just 3,300 cars. The Hellcat seems more practical for daily street use plus it is more readily available since production is not as limited.
RIP EMMA MORANO -
The name Emma Morano probably is not known to my readers, but she had the distinction of being the oldest person in the world, and believed to be the last survivor born in the 1800s. She was 117 years old. She resided in Italy. That is quite an accomplishment, which I am sure most of us will fall way short of!
THE NEW TURBO REGAL PRODUCTS JUST KEEP COMING -
Max Performance, who produces the Pypes Exhaust systems, makes reproduction radiators under their Cold Case brand. See Photo 3 in this issue for more details.
Pypes now also has available the exhaust system we sell in the larger 3-inch diameter format.
This was tested by Richard Clark on one of his cars. Because we pick up the exhaust systems, it gives us an edge on our costs. We will soon be adding the 3-inch system to our inventory. It uses the same style mufflers and exits out the side like the original system. The projected price of the 3-inch exhaust system will be approximately $520 shipped.
New Turbo Regal products just keep coming. This is why it’s important you deal with several different vendors not just one. Some vendors are very limited on what they offer. Still others may not offer any used parts or take in parts in trade. Our company, on the other hand, tries to cover all the options with new, used parts, weekly newsletter, and trades considered. We are also one of the oldest company that deals in the Turbo Regals.
RUNNING OUT OF GREY PALLEX MATERIAL -
Currently we have sold out of every bit of the black pallex material. We only have small sections of the grey pallex material available. We have nothing over 3 feet in length in grey pallex. See the Rare Parts section for some of the various lengths of grey pallex available and pricing.
IN STOCK - “GRAND NATIONAL” LOGO SEAT ARMOUR™ SEAT COVER-
The Grand National logo Seat Armour seat covers are in stock. You can order them now from our website.
The pricing is the same as the other versions we currently sell. All of these seat covers will be on display and for sale at our upcoming Spring Open House, April 22nd, 2017.
Here is a link to the current Buick seat covers on our website:

TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -
If you have a tip or a discovery that you found that works on your Turbo Regal, drop us an email giving us the details so we can pass the info on to our readers. Remember, even with my knowledge, I don’t know it all. Simply email me at - [email protected]
TIP FROM KIRBAN -
Many times you may have doubts as to what shade of black to paint certain items under the car or under the hood. I always use satin black. You want to avoid using gloss black as you do not want to bring attention to those areas. Flat black is too dull. Satin black is just a nice color black to blend in with the surrounding area. Again this is my opinion only but one I have practiced for many years.
CORES NEEDED -
Here is the information on our credits for cores.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -
1978-1988 G-Body (Including 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal Models) -
Reproduction 4″ x 10″ REAR SPEAKERS (2) SET
It has been hard to locate a suitable 4″ x 10″ speaker for the 1984-1987 Turbo Regal rear package shelf. The space is too narrow to use anything but a 4″ x 10″ speaker. It must also fit the factory cage bracket.
We found this suitable reproduction 8 ohm speaker. You do have to replace the connector ends, since the factory plug on the harness will not fit the terminals on this new speaker.
These fit the factory metal cage that GM used to secure the original rear speakers.
Over the years, age and sunlight have probably cracked the original speakers. These are a perfect replacement.
A nice upgrade for any interior restoration.

EXTERIOR SOLAR LED MOTION LIGHT PANEL -
This exterior solar LED motion light panel is a neat compact product that fills a need for any home owner, shop owner, or apartment owner. It’s a simple and inexpensive method to light up a walkway at your house, or garage door way.
Since it’s powered by the sun, it means zero electric costs!
Panel is compact, just 4" x 6" x 1/2". The housing is white. It has 36 LED lights that equals the output of a 100 watt incandescent bulb! It does this with zero costs to your electric bill.
It has 3 different modes that you can set. MODE 1 - It can come on at dusk on low power and stay on until dawn. MODE 2 - It can be set to come on at dusk on low power, go to full power by motion, then revert back to lower power. MODE 3 - It can be set to go on by motion at dusk on full power and turn off after about 10 seconds if no motion is detected or activate by motion walking by it.
Most small solar powered outside motion lights are rated at only 20 to 50 watt and less than 400 lumens, unless you buy the larger ones. This one equals a 100 watt incandescent light and 450 lumens. Not only is this compact and bright enough to light any walk way or entrance, it is priced below most units available in stores.
You can mount this anywhere outside as long as it gets direct sunlight. The ideas are endless. It pays for itself since it draws no electric energy!
SPECIFICATIONS -
Compact size - 4" x 6" x 1/2" - Weighs 6 ounces - 50,000-hour operating life
450 lumens / zero energy usage - Equal to a 100 w incandescent bulb -

Lithium battery 3.7 volts 2000mAh - Solar panel 6 v, 2.5 w

Our top left photo shows the actual packaging and the Solar Motion Exterior Light. It comes with directions to set the mode you want. The mounting hardware is included. The top right shows just how bright the 36 LED lights are when they go on. The lower left photo shows our back door entrance at our home lit with a normal 100 watt bulb. TRANSLATOR CUSTOM-MADE BLACK MOUNTING BRACKET
When converting your car to a modern Mass Air Flow sensor, such as an LT1 or LS1 style sensor, a translator is needed. This is a custom-made mounting bracket to hold the Mass Air Flow Sensor Translator.
This bracket provides a simple, yet effective way of mounting the Translator in a convenient location.
This clever bracket was designed and produced by one of our customers. He saw a need to eliminate have the translator wire tied under the hood.
The bracket is made in acrylic and painted black. It mounts using existing holes. NO modifications are made to the car or to the translator. It also leaves enough space below the bracket to access the headlight wiring or if you have the charcoal canister and stock intake or even a 4" Cold Air Intake pipe.
Once installed, the custom-made bracket is barely visible.
The bracket comes with a spacer and easy-to-follow directions.
Our photo on the left shows the bracket and the photo on the right shows it installed on a car.
NOTE - This bracket will not work if you retain the factory air cleaner box.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. IN CLOSING -
We deleted several of our used parts because they will be for sale this Saturday at our Open House. We expect most of these items will sell at this event.
This event is something special… don’t miss it!

The usual array of tagged and bagged used parts and literature will be for sale as well.
We are currently requesting raffle items from many of the various Turbo Regal vendors that we sell to. We want to make this event special since it is our 30th year. We have a food vendor coming. You will be able to purchase hot dogs, Kielbasas, hamburgers, chips, and various drinks.

HUGE URGENT NEED - Powermaster brake units. The must be complete. We will issue you a letter of credit for $125 for each acceptable core. Currently we will also buy them outright.
URGENT NEED - 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering wheels. They must not be bent or rusted. We will issue a $75 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.
URGENT NEED - TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $150 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.

7789 - 1978-1988 G-Body (Including 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal Models) –

SPECIFICATIONS -
Compact size - 4" x 6" x 1/2" - Weighs 6 ounces - 50,000-hour operating life
450 lumens / zero energy usage - Equal to a 100 w incandescent bulb -
Motion activated - 3 different modes - White IP65 Housing for outside usage - high-density polymer, aluminum and plastic laminate (protects against dust and low pressure jets of water)
Lithium battery 3.7 volts 2000mAh - Solar panel 6 v, 2.5 w
While larger versions are readily available at various stores, few choices exist for a compact unit that can easily be installed to light up walk ways or entrances for your home or garage.
The lower right photo shows this same area lit by this solar motion light.
An excellent exterior solar light upgrade for you home and office.

Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING -
We deleted several of our used parts because they will be for sale this Saturday at our Open House. We expect most of these items will sell at this event.
This event is something special… don’t miss it!
