Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 07-31-2013
SUMMERTIME MINI CONTEST RESULTS -
We got our three winners. It took almost two days to get three correct answers. Some of the wrong answers were way off base as to the clue stating the size of the gasket. The width of the gasket was 3 inches across. I also stated it was not seen in the car. Some of the guesses were for gaskets that could be seen.
The answer was the HORN CENTER. This foam donut gasket is behind the rubber horn center. It gives the horn center support. Unless you ever had the horn center apart, you would not know this part.
Our three winners were - Bill Furst, Victor Delgado, and Frank Bozar. Interesting enough, Bill Furst has also won two of our M & Ms contests!
NEAT NEW REPRODUCTION PART -
Here is a part we now carry that another source has made, and that many owners need. What you may or may not realize is Buick put a thin visible trim strip between the windshield molding and the actual windshield. This strip is barely visible and fills the gap between the molding and the windshield. Buick also did it for the back window. A lot of Regals are missing this or parts of it have broke off.
For more information, see the New Products section in this Inner Circle, Part #7517.
PHOTO 1 - Shows the 3-piece kit that you will get when you order it. If you want to do the rear window, you simply buy two kits and cut the strips to fit. They slide into the factory moldings. A neat new item that is inexpensive and needed in many cases.
It seems now almost every week we are adding more parts to our Turbo Regal product line.
SUMMERTIME CAR SHOWS -
In our immediate area, you can attend a car show almost every single weekend and probably at least one cruise during the week. Some of the towns near us have a major show, such as the Hatboro show we have mentioned in the past.
The Hatboro Moonlight Memories Car Show was this past Saturday night. Unlike shows in the past, there was probably at least 5 or 6 Grand Nationals spread out among the 400-plus cars. I think they even outnumbered the Monte Carlos this year! I usually bump into several old friends at this event and this year was no different. Years ago I was a judge at this event.
Everyone once in awhile a car or truck shows up for sale at one of these cars shows that really comes across as a good deal. One that makes you take a second look and quickly realize that the price is way under the costs that went into the car or truck. At the Hatboro show I saw such a vehicle and I told the owner I think I can get him a buyer for his little GMC Sonoma truck.
In my youth the hot ticket was to put a V8 engine in a Vega. More recently the Chevrolet S10s and GMC versions have various kits available to drop a V8 into those mini trucks. The trick is to find a nice rust-free donor truck and then make it a practical conversion and not something that pumps out 600 HP so you can enjoy it as a regular truck.
PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows this well-done modified 1995 GMC Sonoma painted in a gorgeous red with a hint of metal flake. This started as a rust-free example with a mere 35,000 miles. The top right photo shows a close up of the driver’s side inner fender. Note the Turbo Buick power steering reservoir mounted on the inner fender. The bottom left photo shows the rear all-steel pan giving the truck a clean look. The bottom right photo shows the custom interior. The truck is powered by an almost new short block from SLP featuring LT4 heads that maybe has 2,000 miles on it. The price is just $11,500 to own it.
If such a vehicle perks your interest, drop me an email - [email protected] - and I can provide more details. Clearly there has been much more money than he’s asking invested into this truck.
I have always been a fan of cars that have the “sleeper” affect. This goes back to the days when I had a 1964 Volvo 544 that had Judson supercharger on it and a Studebaker Lark that was R3 powered with dual quads and supercharged. On the outside it had black steel wheels and dog-dish-style hubcaps, bench seat, crank windows, and a simple rubber mat on the floor. The next photo shows a well-designed sleeper example.
PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows this very well-restored three-window coupe that I believe was a Chevrolet. The top right photo shows the side and back end. Note the wire-style wheels and original bumpers. The bottom left photo shows what appears to be a completely stock dash format. The bottom right photo shows a highly-detailed Chevrolet V8 powerplant. To me this was a well-executed car, combining the best of both worlds, yet retaining much of the originality of the car with modern power.
While most of our readers are familiar with the Turbo Regal Designer series, back in the mid 1950s Chrysler did something similar. Chrysler used three different colors instead of two. I believe this was the only triple color combo Dodge offered.
PHOTO 4 - This top photo shows a 1955 or 1956 Dodge that had such a paint scheme - pink/black/white. The bottom photo shows one of the most unusual uses for a gas can I have seen - making it work as an air cleaner. Hopefully any gasoline residue was removed first!
UNDISTURBED JUNKYARD FOR 25 YEARS -
Watch for an article on this in the future, as we recently got a tour of this junkyard. It has over 200 cars that have virtually been hidden from view by the foliage of time.
I picked out one late 1940s fastback out of this yard. My plan is to have the back half put in our one shrubbery bed as a neat ornament.
TANDEM AXLE AIRSTREAM TRAILER FOR SALE -
Located in the junkyard mentioned above is a TANDEM axle Airstream that needs total restoration. If I had to guess as to its length, I would say it’s a 20-24 foot long. The exterior is very straight, except at least one window is missing. You are not going to give this a quick exterior polish and head down the road! I know Airstreams are highly collectible in the RV world. Personally. I like the small single axle ones.
There is no title for this Airstream. Here is the ID number that is on a plate on the side door -F262F7 - and on the second line it reads “1268J506.” Perhaps from this you can tell the size and year. The asking price is $2500.
For more info, email me - [email protected] - I do have some exterior photos of the Airstream. It is located about 15 minutes from our shop. It would need wheels and tires to be moveable as the tires are flat.
ANOTHER URGENT REQUEST -
Once again we find ourselves needing original stock AC Delco correct 1986-1987 Turbo Regal mass air flow sensors. The housing CANNOT be broken. Screens are not important. Each one that meets these requirements is worth $40 in Letter of Credit to us. Help us help other owners keep their cars original.

Be sure you have a spare, since these are not a readily available stock item in the auto stores.

1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
Reproduction WINDSHIELD PLASTIC TRIM - 3 Piece Kit
Here is a part almost every Regal is missing due to age and heat.
Originally GM had a thin plastic trim molding, which was between the metal molding and the front windshield. It went on both vertical side pieces and across the top. Without it there is a gap between the metal molding and the windshield.
This is a reproduction of that plastic trim molding. You have to remove the original trim pieces in order to slide this into each molding.
If you need to redo both the front and the back glass trim, you will need to purchase two kits. The material can easily be cut to size.
NOTE - When you install the trim pieces, some of the original plastic clips may break due to age. We recommend you also purchase our Part #7199, 1975-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) - Exterior Reveal Molding Clips (30) Set, in case you break any original clips.
Another great exterior restoration item.

Over time, heat can crack the original windshield washer squirters. Or, if you attempt to remove or replace the rubber hose to these squirters, the nipple may break.
Our first photo shows the 2 windshield washer squirters. Our lower photo shows the originals on the driver’s and passenger’s side of a car.
NOTE - You may also want to purchase our Part #7468, 1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) - Rebuilt Wiper Motor.

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
Reproduction MAIN CLUSTER LENSES
for Standard ANALOG AND Optional DIGITAL DASH CLUSTERS
Buick offered two styles of dashes for all the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals.
All Turbo Regals have either a standard analog dash or the optional digital dash, and both came with the trip odometer option.
The digital dash has a smaller hole for the trip odometer hole and it’s in a different spot than the trip odometer hole in the analog dash.
We had both lenses reproduced. The original is a molded lens, which is secured behind the bezel by 4 screws that also secure the inner bezel.
We designed this lens to simply attach to the flat area of the base bezel. This reproduction lens is flat, which matches exactly like the visible part of the original lens is. These new reproduction lenses are the same thickness as the original lenses.
Installation is secured by two-sided tape, which comes with each lens. The end result is a very inexpensive method to have a brand new clear plastic lens at a fraction of the cost of the molded style. Once installed you can't tell the difference, since it is secured behind the face bezel.
We offer two options.
#7503 is for the Standard ANALOG Dash.
#7504 is for the Optional DIGITAL Dash.
Each lens comes with a protective film and easy-to-follow installation directions.
NOTE - See Part #7501 - Reproduction Dash Filter Lenses (Telltale Lenses) for Left & Right Inserts (2) with ORIGINAL wording or Part #7502 - 1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) - Reproduction Dash Filter Lenses (Telltale Lenses) for Left & Right Inserts (2) with “ALKY.” By purchasing this additional part, you would have all new lenses for your dash.
Over the years, the originals are probably scratched or faded, so this is a great way to restore the dash area.
Great interior restoration items.

Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE - We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected].
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again.

KIRBAN SEPTEMBERFEST OPEN HOUSE - SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 28TH - 9 am - 3 pm
We will be holding our annual fall “SEPTEMBERFEST” Open House on Saturday, September 28th, at our Plumsteadville location - 6201 Kellers Church Road, Plumsteadville. Rain or Shine, 9 am until 3 pm. Open to all cars, not just Turbo Buicks.
Free Yum Yum donuts and coffee will be provided in the morning.
Pete and I will have our usual array of used parts. Some of the highlights for the Open House will be the raffle prizes, M&M contest, and a no reserve auction. We will have some really neat items for the no reserve auction including several items from Jays GN that we purchased.
Our personal Turbo-T will be on display and I will show our new plug-and-play H4 headlight system.
Once again, Chef Russ and Nancy will be preparing a full-course gourmet luncheon, like they did at our Spring Open House. This time the menu will be expanded. We are very fortunate to have Nancy and Russ, our local Turbo Buick Chef who loves to cook, generously offer to prepare the entire luncheon menu. So bring your appetite.

ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -
Got any turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - [email protected].
Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
