Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 04-10-2019 –

LAST WEEK’S TURBO REGAL TRIVIA QUESTION ANSWERED –

The correct answer for last week’s Trivia Question is that the car is a 1995 Eagle Summit LX model. According to the label under the hood, it was made by Mitsubishi. The unusual exterior visual feature was on the driver’s side of the car. The driver’s side does not have a second door! It is a 3-door station wagon, something I had never seen before.

PHOTO 1 – In these two photos we show the passenger and driver’s side of this unusual mini station wagon. I did talk to the owner of the car, who is from Italy, and his English was not that understandable. The car is a manual shift. We did get a few correct answers to the question. Some that responded said that second door on the passenger door is a sliding door. I can’t tell from the exterior, if that is true or not. That is why the correct answer was it lacks a second door on the driver’s side.

THIS WEEK’S TRIVIA QUESTION –

This week’s Trivia question is based on a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal. All the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal models would have this part from the factory. Here are the clues. We sell a rear seat brace kit #1586 for $78.95. Once this rear seat brace kit is installed, the braces form an X pattern.

Something that Buick installed when the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals were built also forms an X pattern. Explain what part I am referring to that is found on every 1986-1987 Turbo Regal.

On a side note, part #1586 is something that every owner should have in their Turbo Regal. It’s getting tougher for me to think up trivia questions each week!

Your answer must agree with mine. Email your educated guess to me [email protected]

OPEN HOUSE RAFFLE ITEMS –

We just got in a package from Classic Industries with goodies for our upcoming Open House.

PHOTO 2 – We show just two of the Open House raffle items. Not bad for just $5 a chance. On the left is a new Zl1 Camaro and just behind it sits a McLaren. I am kidding! Actually, these cars were just in our building for detailing! The photo to the right shows the proper way to remove a factory Grand National rear spoiler. Buick never lined up all the studs by an access hole for easy removal. You can clearly see this 1986 Grand National I am dismantling had severe rust issues on the trunk lid. You don’t want to hire me to remove a factory rear spoiler from a mint trunk lid!

UPDATE ON 1986 GRAND NATIONAL PARTS CAR –

I have started to dismantle this one-owner 1986 Grand National parts car I purchased. I wish I was 20 years younger as it seems to be a lot harder to do now. I got the knowledge on how to remove the parts, it’s the energy to do it that I’m lacking.

I discovered a few things with this car. The owner had replaced all the bushings with the red ones which I assume are made by Energy Suspension maybe? The car appears to have the ATR 3-inch stainless exhaust system, which is still in nice shape. Mufflers are stainless with center-to-center inlet and outlet. Car does have the G80 code for Limited Slip.

I have no easy means to remove the drive train so I am open to offers on the turnkey drivetrain with rear intact, 4 tires, and clear PA title. Motor needs to be rebuilt as it leaks oil from every possible place it can leak. Motor is complete and totally stock. The body parts I am leaving on the car are junk. So, if this perks your interest, email me an offer. The key parts are the complete drive train, the desirable 8.5 rear, and to a lesser extent the ATR stainless 3-inch exhaust system. Email me [email protected] with your offer. Car is at our house and is not in our way so there is no hurry to remove it. Comes with a one-year-old AC Delco battery! Otherwise the car is gutted inside and out. What is your offer?

MAKE OFFER ON THE BELOW BIG ITEMS –

I have the following parts removed from the 1986 one owner Grand National. With our Open House coming up, it is the perfect time to submit your offer for me to consider. If I like the offer, the part will be yours to pick up at the Spring Open House. You must email me direct [email protected] with your offer and what parts below perk your interest. If I agree to your offer, payment would need to be made prior to our Open House. Whatever parts that are not bid on, I will have at the Open House with a price on it.

All the below items are driver’s quality except where noted!

A – The factory original paint, 3 piece rear spoiler no broken studs and end caps still attached to the angled corners. All 5 pieces are included. What is your offer?

B- I have 2 factory 1986-1987 Grand National wheels basically cores as they are in poor shape. What is your offer?

C- I have a complete front black bumper with everything intact minus the marker lights. It is straight has a steel reinforcement brace. This front bumper is very straight. What is your offer?

D – I have a complete rear bumper with everything intact it has the desirable aluminum reinforcement brace. Again this is very straight. What is your offer?

E – I have an average driver quality 1986 Grill. What is your offer?

F – The factory correct spare tire in very nice shape. The wheel is not rusty. What is your offer?

G – The factory console complete with diecast insert, console lid is very nice nothing busted or cracked with ash tray. The console does need a new appliqué. What is your offer?

H – I also have a fairly mint stock hood. It has no dents. It does have a few minor rust spots where paint has chipped of. As of this writing I have not removed the hood yet. It would include the factory hood pad which is at best ok condition. What is your offer?

J – Last but not least and this is actually close to show quality worthy. Plus I am 99% certain I got all the parts. This is the optional concert sound kit. Both lower door panels with armrests, very nice condition nothing worn or cracked etc. Both actual speakers with 12 inches of wire harness with each speaker. The radio plugs so you can match up which side speaker goes to which radio connector one side is green other is brown. This is show quality. What is your offer?

K -  For any 1984-1987 Grand National (black trim) I have a real nice 100% complete drivers side tail light assembly. Drives quality has one very small chip in the black plastic trim in the one corner. What is your offer?

Again, submit your offer direct to me [email protected] You have an opportunity to buy any of these large Turbo Regal parts prior to our Open House in May. This saves you shipping as I rather sell these items at our Open House or beforehand. This is the first time we have had a Turbo Regal to dismantle prior to one of our Open House events.

IT GETS EVEN BETTER FOR OUR OPEN HOUSE – WE4 FOR SALE -

Not only do we have a super mint GNX for sale, but we also have an extremely nice original WE4 for sale. The WE4 we have owned twice and it is a National winner at the GS Nationals a few years back. Both cars will be at our event for sale unless either or both sell prior to the Open House. See details below and Photo 3 and Photo 4. Last year we had a Caddy V car for sale at our event.

GNX #206 FOR SALE –

We are selling GNX #206 for one of our long-time customers. While several GNXs can be found for sale on the internet, what separates this one from the pack is not only does it have the GNX book and GNX jacket but the trunk is full of everything associated with a GNX and all the documents back to the original owner in 1988. It is a 2-owner car. This GNX has never been advertised since the current owner purchased it in 1998.

It has been garaged with the wheels off the ground. Even the steering wheel was covered. Most unusual is that the little rubber bumpers are on both doors that came on the car when it was shipped are still on the car! I did not count them but Molly’s signature appears on a dozen or more items, including the GNX jacket. Car has 100% original paint and 100% stock. Front and rear fillers have just been replaced in the last 30 days.

The car still smells factory new. Mileage is 23,839 and original. Car has the latest PA inspection. It’s close to 100% perfect in every regard. The factory paint is outstanding, a term you seldom see used on a black Regal of any version. The price tag is $99,900. To help ease the pain, since I hold a license, I am open to consider any car or cars in partial trade. Trade value cuts down the sales tax bite and out-of-pocket money. Remember, a partial trade car need not be a Turbo Regal. It can even be more than one car. Buying this example eliminates any surprises that some of the other GNXs seem to have that are for sale. This GNX is one that can only advance in value. You can email me for more photos. My email is [email protected]

PHOTO 3 – We show various photos of this outstanding GNX.

WE4 FOR SALE –

The same day we took in the above GNX, we also took in a super mint WE4 from another customer. This WE4 is one of the very rare ones. It is a hardtop. I have owned this car twice. It also is a National winner at the GS Nationals several years ago. This WE4 has always been garaged and has 100% original paint. Mileage stands at 50,345. To be pristine, it needs front and rear fillers. Whoever buys this WE4 would get 10% off on any parts for the first 30 days.

This car is 99% stock. To be 100% it needs the catalytic converter put on and a factory correct oil fill tube and cap. The catalytic converter is in the trunk. We have the Window Sticker. What makes this WE4 unusual that is it has virtually every option. Most WE4 models had very few options. Options include power seat, power windows, power locks, EQ radio, power trunk release, tilt, cruise, delay wipers, factory alarm, limited slip rear, and concert sound II.

The first time we sold it, the car had 34,500 miles on it. I bought it out of Delaware. It then went to Tennessee. The next time we sold it the car had 41,700 miles on it. Back then I stated without any exaggeration that this is the best Turbo-T we have sold in the last 5 years. Richard Lasseter had appraised it for $16,800 back in 2001.

This is the WE4 Pete Serio and I went to Tennessee. This was the same day 911 attack happened. The seller sold this WE4 to me because he found a super mint brown Turbo-T. Few years later, I would go back and buy the brown Turbo-T from him as well!

This car is top notch. It needs a few very minor things to be 100%. If you have ever seen my white Turbo-T that I got $21,000 for, this car is nicer with less miles. This is one of the best of the best in a WE 4 model. The deal includes a 3-ring binder of info and documentation, which goes with this prime example. This is a Kirban Quality car that I have owned twice. Proof of this comes with the car as well as the Window Sticker and other information. This WE4 has never been advertised for sale since the current owner bought it from us in 2001.

This WE4 and GNX #206 will be at our Open House next month, if they have not been sold prior to this event.

PHOTO 4 - We show various views of this new arrival WE4 with 50,345 actual miles. Car has one of the best factory paint jobs you will ever see on a 30-year-old Turbo-T. For more photos, contact me direct [email protected]

IS YOUR TURBO REGAL PROPERLY INSURED? –

Classic car enthusiasts know that it is sometimes difficult to reach an agreement with an insurance company on the value of a collectible car or truck. It is always better to agree on that value as soon as you arrange to insure it, rather than wait to argue it out when trying to make a claim. It is also a good idea to periodically re-evaluate the worth of your classic car or truck as the value will change as time passes.

ALS Appraisal and Litigation Services is the right choice to appraise your collectible vehicle for this or any other purpose. Get your Turbo Regal/Grand National appraised at 20% OFF at Kirban’s upcoming spring Open House event on May 4, 2019.

Contact - [email protected] Terry Shaw - 215-659-4947 - Fax 215-657-3409 - PA License #139808.

On a personal note, I have known Terry Shaw for over 35-plus years. He has appraised several vehicles for my son as well as my personal Turbo-T years ago.

CARSMARTS RADIO IS ON THE AIR AND ON THE WEB! –

Turbo V6 enthusiast Steve Saffier (who produced “The Dennis Kirban Story” on YouTube last year) is producer and host of a new automotive radio program broadcasting live every Saturday from 11am - 12 noon on 610 ESPN radio (the old WIP 610 am for those in the area.) The show talks about different aspects of the car world and Steve’s affinity for Turbo Regals and Syclone/Typhoons often is expressed in nearly every show.

You can tune in live or livestream the show at http://www.610espn.com from anywhere in the world.
