Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 04-01-2015
APRIL CARTOON -
PHOTO 1 - Our first photo is this month’s “Adventures of Tommy Turbo” cartoon. In honor of April, the caption reads, “THOUGH APRIL SHOWERS MAY COME YOUR WAY LEAKY T-TOPS WILL RUIN YOUR DAY!”
URGENT REQUEST FROM US FOR POWERMASTER CORES -
We URGENTLY need complete powermaster cores. Without them we can’t fill orders from your fellow Turbo Regal owners. If we do not get cores back, we will be forced to raise the core charge to our customers in order to be assured of getting their cores back.
The other issue we have is that not every core we have received is able to be rebuilt by Cardone. They NEED cores to rebuild!
So, if you are coming to our Spring Open House event, bring ALL the powermaster cores you have. We need them badly. These are the only way for Turbo Buick owners to get original rebuilt powermasters to keep their car on the road.
The latest word we have from the company making the new powermasters is they hope to have them available early this summer. We still do not have a price for the new powermaster.
Currently the vacuum one we offer, part #7625 for $379.95, is our most popular option for a fairly stock Turbo Regal. This kit includes the one critical part - the vacuum brake pedal. Fortunately, over this past winter I have been able to get these pedals out of dead G-body cars. We also have been able to convert turbo brake pedals by having a new correct-size pin machined and welded in the correct position.
POWERMASTER BRAKE UPDATE -
Currently we have a backlog of orders for the rebuilt powermasters due to a lack of cores being sent in. If you have a rebuilt unit from us, please send back your core for a refund of your core deposit.
Unless the situation changes, we will be forced to raise the core charge with the rebuilt powermaster units.
I deal with other companies and, in extreme cases where a core is required, you have to send in your core FIRST before they will send you a rebuilt part.
LITTLE PARTS THAT SOMETIMES GET LOST -
In the last few issues of the Inner Circle, we have been featuring various small items that sometimes get lost. Some other small parts may be missing from your Turbo Regal. Still other parts would make nice upgrades to add to your Turbo Regal. In many cases, these parts are not easy to find at your local auto store.
This week we featured a few more of those small little items that can be hard to locate for your Turbo Regal.
One very visible item we have covered in the past is the correct grey valve stem caps that Buick used on the G-body cars. In many cases, your only reference to see what they looked like is to check the spare tire. Most original valve stem caps are long gone, since in many cases your street tires have been replaced several times over the years.
The GNX used black valve stem caps. Only the other Turbo Regals had this unique grey valve stem cap.
I am not sure is exactly what other GM car models used those grey valve stem caps. I have found them on several other GM models on the spare tires. However, I have only found a few, as most are black. This past Saturday I was able to find two and was able to make a set that you see pictured in this Inner Circle. Finding two among 6,000-plus vehicles on a 29 degree windy day is not an easy accomplishment. Fortunately, I find other parts to make these weekend jaunts worthwhile.
One plastic cap that is a nice cosmetic item is the black plastic cap that covers the Diagnostic Connector under the center of the dash. In my searches in the You Pull It Yards, I seldom ever see this cap. It doesn’t appear that Buick ever used it. I have found it on several Chevrolet and Oldsmobile cars. I know it was used in the mid-to-late 1980s on Corvettes as that is how I discovered it years ago. We offer an exact reproduction of this plastic cap, part #7636. The technical name for this cap is a Diagnostic ALDL Connector Port Cover.
On the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals on the driver’s side part of the engine on the intake is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation System, simply known as the EGR system.
The actual EGR valve is round and has a “pop on” plastic cap. This EGR valve sits about halfway back on the intake. Sitting directly behind it is the EGR Control Solenoid Assembly. This is a rectangle-shaped box that has vacuum lines going to the front of it and a wire connector coming off the back. What many of you may not realize is that at the back of this solenoid under the electric connector towards the firewall, there is a small black plastic cap. Like the plastic cap on the EGR valve, this cap also “pops off.” Inside it sits a small filter. It’s about the size of your thumb. In some cases, this filter may be foam and, in some cases, it can be a paper-style filter. Regardless of what style filter it is, chances are it has never ever been changed.
PHOTO 2 - The top photo shows a factory illustration of the top of the engine on the driver’s side. You can probably see lines going to the EGR valve and also the EGR vacuum control assembly. That is the technical name for the rectangle box I referred to. You basically have to put your hand under the back connector to feel the round cap that pops off and exposes the mini filter that is housed inside the EGR valve vacuum control assembly. The lower photo shows the EGR valve plastic cap, the vacuum control cap filter cap and the actual filter that is housed inside the EGR vacuum Control Assembly. If you were to remove the filter cap, you would see the foam or paper filter.
PHOTO 3 - In the first photo we show the ALDL connector in our personal 1987 Turbo-T without the protective cap installed, highlighted with a red arrow. The second photo shows the ALDL Diagnostic protective cap installed, highlighted with a red arrow. The lower photo shows the Diagnostic Connector cover and the four very rare original correct grey valve stem caps. (See Rare Parts section in this issue to purchase).
SPOOLFOOL REAR SPOILER CONTEST -
Mike Bernard, owner of Spoolfool products, has recently produced the Grand National rear spoiler.
He has also produced a similar one that is a one-piece design. The one-piece design simply overhangs the top edge of both rear quarter panels and is attached to the trunk lid.
Both spoilers are made in the same high-quality format as his popular Spoolfool fillers. In most cases, the finish on them needs no work.
We have one of each for display at our upcoming Spring Open House. We also expect to have some of each available for sale at our Spring Open House.
In the meantime, Mike is running a contest, which will award the winner their choice of one of the new rear spoilers that he has produced.
The contest begins, oddly enough, on April 1, 2015 - April Fools Day!
You can request a “FUN METER” button when you contact our office. We have them in stock. The Fun Meter button is what you need for the contest.
Here is the link for the contest rules:

PHOTO 4 - Shows a portion of both versions of Spoolfools new reproduction rear spoilers he has had produced. Also, the fun meter button you need to enter the contest. Simply request this fun meter button when you order any parts from us and we will include it free with your order. One lucky Turbo Regal owner will win the spoiler of his or hers choice!
DO YOU OWN A MOTORCYCLE? -
We have been working on a product specifically for the motorcycle market.
To my knowledge, nobody has made this product yet. I even checked with several friends and relatives that have bikes, and they want to be our first customers. We have been working on this project for most of the winter. We just tested part of this on a 2012 Harley Davidson Electric Glide Limited Edition belonging to my brother-in-law.
We expect to have a special introductory price to our customer base. We already have one major company that will be packaging it and selling it to distributors and retailers. Having this product will eliminate one of the possible problems that you can face as a motorcycle owner.
If you own a motorcycle, and would like more information, email me - [email protected]
If you are a dealer email me for more details - [email protected]

BREAKING NEWS - LOCAL GNX #331 IS FOR SALE -
Here is a chance to own a really nice unmolested original GNX that has had the same woman owner since 1989. The original title verifies this, stating it was titled in March of 1989 when it had 10,415 miles on it. The woman is now 80 years young! It would be hard to find a GNX that matches the history of this car. It has never been for sale since 1989, and it’s had only one woman driver in all those years and she is now 80 years young.
I have known the owner for over 15 years, as they would always contact me when the GNX needed a part that the local garage could not supply.
The GNX is bone stock. The husband used a 3-step wax once a year and the car has been garaged year round since 1989. The GNX has never smoked in. The interior and body is absolutely show quality. The car shows no wear issues. Headliner has been done.
Tires are brand new Goodyears, however, the tire patterns are different front to rear. Exhaust is original with only stock-looking mufflers that have been replaced. No paint fade, even the fillers are still nice. Car is bone dry underneath. Never raced or abused, simply driven as a regular car. In the last several years it has been driven very sparingly.
Under the hood has not been detailed. It has the Cardone replacement brake bowl, and AC Delco replacement plug wires, hood shocks, and a new AC Delco battery. Everything else is as it was in 1987. It does have a two-finger size hole in the hood liner.
Her husband passed away last month and that is why she is selling it. He would change the oil every 2,000 miles.
The mileage is 96,400. However, don't let the miles scare you. This GNX looks better than some cars look at 50,000 miles. Remember, the only driver has been this woman who was approximately 55-56 years old in 1989 when her husband paid $30,000 for the GNX. She is now 80 years young. Exterior and interior is in absolutely unbelieveable condition. The GNX is located about 20 minutes from our shop.
It will be at our Open House for sale unless it sells prior to our event. Actually, a buyer could complete the deal prior to our event and attend our show and drive it home.
She does have a GNX book, however it is not the numbered one. She was not the first owner so never even knew about the numbered GNX book or the GNX jacket. She also does not have either Window Sticker.
The price is $54,995
I do have some photos of the car, including a photo of her beside her GNX.
Email me - [email protected] for photos.

ORIGINAL GM AC DELCO HEATER WATER VALVE -
Our supplier was able to locate a few more of these original brand new AC Delco heater water valves. You must call our office to order one - 215-766-1611 x 0. The price is $60 plus shipping. It appears this AC Delco heater water valve will be discontinued from GM and AC Delco. It doesn’t appear that we will be getting any more of theses.
MORE NEWS ON THE MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTERS -
We will have a supply of these at our Spring Open House. It is one of the most powerful ones on the market, putting out 250 cranking amps and 500 peak amps for less than $100. It is this larger module that has very few limitations on what it can do.
Here is a link to these Multi-Function Jump Starter parts on our website:
http://www.kirbanperformance.com/products.php?search_text=7629&submit_button=
DISTRIBUTORS WANTED -
The company is starting to get inquiries on their products, which they forward to us since we are their U.S. distributor. We already have several automotive mail-order companies going to start carrying this unit.
Now that we are the only supplier for the Multi-Function Jump Starter for this company is the U.S.A., we want to line up more distributors.
We are looking for distributors for this product. We currently have two price breaks - 5-9 units or 10 or more.
The product is very easy to sell and not limited to any specific car or truck owner. For pricing and more details, email me personally - [email protected]
VEHICLES FOR SALE -
From time to time, whenever we spot an unusual or an exceptional car or truck for sale, or one we have for sale, we will put a blurb in our weekly Inner Circle. Also any cars that our customers have for sale will be featured here and you can see their car with photos on our website. In this category we will run the descriptions for two to three weeks and, if there is no interest in that particular vehicle, it will be deleted the following week. Any new vehicles that we add will appear first, so the oldest listing would be at the end of this section.
If any of these vehicles perk your interest, email me personally - [email protected] - for more information and photos.
1957 PONTIAC STAR CHIEF SAFARI - FOR SALE -
I spotted this 1957 Pontiac Star Chief Safari for sale sitting at my friend’s gas station near our shop. This is a ground-up restoration of an extremely rare Pontiac.
The Safari was Pontiac’s sister car to the more popular Chevrolet Nomad of the same vintage. From what I am told, only 1,292 were built in 1957. Of that figure, I am sure it’s just a very small percentage of this model still around today. Over $20 grand was spent just in redoing the chrome. It has flawless black paint against a mint black and white stock interior. It is powered by a new Chevy crate engine ramjet 350 engine, backed up with a Richmond 5-speed going to the stock rear end. It has vintage AC and a GM tilt column. Exterior looks 100% stock, down to the wheel covers. Price is $62,900.
Email me - [email protected] for photos.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -
1984-1987 Buick Regal - All Models (including Buick Turbo Regal) -
REPRODUCTION DASH CONNECTOR SEALING GASKET
Over time, water can enter the interior due to a deteriorating dash connector sealing gasket. This can potentially create rust and water damage to the driver’s side floor and surrounding materials.
This new reproduction sealing gasket fixes the problem. It restores a weather-tight seal to the harness feed-thru location.
This is a critical gasket, since it’s for the dash bulkhead.
GM has discontinued the actual connectors.
If you are restoring the interior, this is the time to check to see if you need this part.
The gasket comes with very detailed directions.
Our first picture shows the actual gasket and the second photo shows the general area (indicated by a red oval) where this gasket is used.
Another great interior restoration item.

1984-1988 GM G-Body - All Models (Including Buick Turbo Regal)
AFTERMARKET LED UNDER-THE-DASH INTERIOR LIGHT BULBS (3) SET
& LED TRUNK or UNDER-THE-HOOD LIGHT BULB
This aftermarket LED under-the-dash interior light kit will replace both of the under-the-dash factory lights to the upgraded LED format.
GM used two different styles of sockets under the dash. It used a slotted socket on the driver’s side and a regular round socket on the passenger’s side.
This kit includes 1 round LED bulb for the passenger’s side and 2 of the slotted LED lights for the driver’s side. This will give you 1 extra slotted LED light. You can use this to replace the stock bulb for the license plate light in most cars. Because of its flat face, the LED will fit in the housing for the license plate light.
You can also purchase an extra passenger’s side LED light, if you want to upgrade the trunk light since it takes the same LED bulb. The same LED bulb will also work for the under-the-hood light.
LED lights greatly increase the amount of light over the stock glass bulbs, draws far less amperage, and does not generate the extreme heat like the original glass bulbs.
Our top left photo shows the original bulbs in the housings, and these replacement LED bulbs.
Our top right photo shows a single LED bulb, which can be purchased separately as a trunk or under-the-hood light bulb, Part #7664.
Our lower left photo shows the interior driver’s side.
Our lower right photo shows the interior passenger’s side.
NOTE - The round LED bulb may look slightly different than the bulb shown in the photos, depending on our supplier.
NOTE - The slotted LED bulb in #7663 will fit the driver’s side under-the-dash interior light or the license plate light on most GM G-Body cars. The round LED bulb #7664 will fit the passenger’s side under-the-dash interior light, the trunk light, or the under-the-hood light.
We also recommend you check out our Aftermarket LED Interior Light Panel, Part #7661. This would give you a complete kit of LED interior lights.
Excellent replacement items for any interior restoration.

THIRD BRAKE LIGHT USED HOUSING WITH NEW BULB AND USED DEFLECTOR WITH LENS
In many cases, you may find that the third brake light socket may be burnt or cracked from heat or age. Also the deflector may become warped over a period of time due to summer heat over the years.
We now have good used third brake light housings available, complete with a brand new 1156 bulb installed. The socket and housing are in very good condition.
We also have good used deflectors with the red lens.
You can buy either or, if you purchase both, you can save $3.95.
We also recommend you check out our Third Brake Light LED Panel, Part #7660. It would be an excellent upgrade with the good used housing.
Excellent replacement items for any interior restoration.

1984-1988 GM G-Body - All Models (Including Buick Turbo Regal)
AFTERMARKET LED INTERIOR LIGHT PANEL
This aftermarket LED interior light panel is made up of 9 LEDs and can replace the fuse-style glass tube bulb found in the interior lights in all the 1984-1988 GM G-Body cars, hardtop and T-Tops models.
This panel consists of 9 LEDs on a panel. It will fit virtually every version of the GM G-Body interior light housings. The ends are specific to properly contact the factory contacts in the light housing.
We show the four versions of the G-Body interior lights that this LED panel will fit - the 2 pillar lights for cars with T-Tops, Oldsmobile Cutlass interior light, the standard dome light, and the optional map reading light. We also just discovered it fits all the third generation Camaros and Firebirds 1982-1992. It fits both the standard light and the optional map reading light format.
The LED panel is easy to install.
The benefits of this LED light panel are that it’s a brighter light and has wider spread of light over the glass tube format.
The LED panel draws far less amperage and does not generate the extreme heat like the original glass tube bulb.
These LED lights will greatly increase the amount of light over the stock glass tube light on cars with T-Tops. Our first photo shows an original glass bulb on the left and this LED replacement on the right.
Our second photo shows the 4 versions on interior lights, which can use this LED panel as a direct replacement.
Our third photo shows a comparison of lights. The top left photo shows the original fuse-style bulb in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the top right. The lower left photo shows the LED light in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the lower right.
If your car only needs one, you might consider purchased part #7662 with 2 panels. Then you would have a spare and save $1.95.
If you need to replace the interior lights in car with T-Tops, you will need to order TWO, part #7662 for $19.95 (save $1.95.)
Another great interior restoration item.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

IN CLOSING -
Hoping spring weather comes soon to match what the calendar says.
Remember, please help us as we badly need powermaster cores. Without cores, we can’t fill orders from your fellow Turbo Regal owners. Help us keep these cars on the road.

More details to come once confirmed. Mark your calendar!

Hoping spring weather comes soon to match what the calendar says.
Remember, please help us as we badly need powermaster cores. Without cores, we can’t fill orders from your fellow Turbo Regal owners. Help us keep these cars on the road.
