THE SMALL LITTLE PARTS THAT SOMETIMES GET LOST -
There are many small little parts that may or may not be on your 1984-1987 Turbo Regal.
Because so many years have passed, these parts may be items you never knew existed (unless you bought your car when it was new.)
Some of the parts we are highlighting were never available on the Turbo Regal, but make a nice, small improvement.
Starting at the very front of your car, there are two white plastic spacers that were part of the front license plate format. Most of you are aware of the front license plate bracket that is secured by 2 bolts under the front bumper. Your front bumper comes to a gradual point in the middle, which is why Buick used two spacers for the top two license plate holes.
These spacers kept a front license plate flat, so it would not bend when you tightened the top two screws. Because these spacers were plastic, most of them have gotten broken over the years or simply have disappeared. Since Pennsylvania never required a front license plate, I seldom find any front license plate brackets in the junkyards.
This reminds me of a story from one of the Grand Nationals we sold years ago. The car was a low-mileage, mint 1987 Grand National. The buyer came over from New Jersey to make the purchase. On the way home, he decided to stop at the New Jersey DMV to register the car and have it inspected. The car failed. The reason he was given was the car lacked a front bracket for the front New Jersey license plate!
New Jersey could save a lot of money if they simply eliminated the front license plate! I doubt any New Jersey resident would be against such a law being passed, especially if the yearly renewal fee was reduced.
PHOTO 1 - The photo to the left shows the front bumper center on our personal 1987 Turbo-T, which has no license plate bracket or the spacers on it. The photo to the right shows two original spacers that would have been in the top two holes on the front bumper. Your front license plate would rest against them, so your license plate would stay flat and not bend.
At the back of the car, some Turbo Regals received a plastic insert in the top left screw hole that had a small loop on it. This loop would be what you would grab to pull your license plate bracket down to refuel your car. Again, because it is made in plastic, these got broken easily and are seldom seen today. I have no idea what Turbo Regals received this little plastic loop.
One of the best little upgrades you can make is to replace your factory spring-loaded rear license plate bracket with the GM version. This would allow you to pull it down and it will stay down while you are filling your gas tank. Why this simple license plate bracket never made it on our cars, I have no idea. No doubt it saved Buick a few cents.
Other GM cars during those years did have this flip-down stay-down license plate bracket. I have even found it on other Buick models in the junkyard. However, most usage seems to be with various Chevrolet models. From what I have been able to determine, GM made two different styles of flip-down stay-down license plate brackets. Both are interchangeable. One version looks like the standard fixed license plate bracket and the other is more streamlined.
PHOTO 2 - In this photo we show two versions of the flip-down stay-down license plate bracket that GM used. Also, in this photo we show the plastic loop. This loop would be in the top left hole on either bracket replacing the plastic insert. I can’t remember which flip-down stay-down license plate bracket were used on which GM cars. Over the years, I find about an equal number of each style.
Back under the hood there are two more small detail items that are worth a mention. One is the plastic cap that should be on the back of the alternator. This plastic cap protects the main lead wire, which is a constant hot even if your car is turned off. Over the years, GM has used a variety of protective caps mostly in red or black. Also, the diameter of the cap varies depending on the diameter of the stud.
Some caps have a single slot and some have 2 slots for the wires. According to Richard Clark, the Turbo Regal alternator cap should have 2 slots and be black in color.
PHOTO 3 - The photo to the left shows the back of the alternator on our personal Turbo-T minus the protective cap. The photo to the right shows it with the protective black cap in place. The black cap on our car only has a single slot for the hot wire. Even with the feeder kit installed, the single slotted black protective cap fits fine. I always thought this cap should be red since that terminal is hot with the key off.
Another small cap is a black rubber boot that fits over the water pump shaft. It is not a factory part. The top pulley is secured by 4 bolts and goes over the center of the shaft on the water pump. This exposed shaft is usually rusty looking in color. This small black rubber boot simply slips over the exposed shaft, so you don’t see the rusty shaft. This just makes it a nice improvement.
PHOTO 4 - The photo to the left shows the exposed shaft (rusty) in the center of the pulley. The photo to the right shows the rubber black boot over the shaft in the center of the pulley. The lower photo shows the license plate spacers, the pulley boot, and the 2-slotted alternator cap.
See the Rare Parts section as we were able to make up several different kits featuring these items for sale.
MORE UPDATES ON THE WEST COAST DOCK STRIKE -
We just learned that our supplier is still waiting for the body bushing kits, part #7305, that we have had on order for well over a month. Even though the strike has been settled, the backlog will be several weeks before inventory is moving properly. I suggest you place an order now if you want a set of the 22-piece body bushing kit, #7305, so we can make sure we have enough coming in with our first order.
This is one of those parts that will improve your ride immensely. This kit includes the GNX bushing as well. It provides an excellent opportunity to reposition the body to the frame so the alignment is correct. Quality control during the mid-1980s is not what it is today for Buick.
BREAKING NEWS -
We just got word our headlights order should finally be in route.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -
1984-1988 GM G-Body - All Models (Including Buick Turbo Regal)
AFTERMARKET LED INTERIOR LIGHT PANEL
This aftermarket LED interior light panel is made up of 9 LEDs and can replace the fuse-style glass tube bulb found in the interior lights in all the 1984-1988 GM G-Body cars, hardtop and T-Tops models.
This panel consists of 9 LEDs on a panel. It will fit virtually every version of the GM G-Body interior light housings. The ends are specific to properly contact the factory contacts in the light housing.
We show the four versions of the G-Body interior lights that this LED panel will fit - the 2 pillar lights for cars with T-Tops, Oldsmobile Cutlass interior light, the standard dome light, and the optional map reading light. We also just discovered it fits all the third generation Camaros and Firebirds 1982-1992. It fits both the standard light and the optional map reading light format.
The LED panel is easy to install.
The benefits of this LED light panel are that it’s a brighter light and has wider spread of light over the glass tube format.
The LED panel draws far less amperage and does not generate the extreme heat like the original glass tube bulb.
These LED lights will greatly increase the amount of light over the stock glass tube light on cars with T-Tops. Our first photo shows an original glass bulb on the left and this LED replacement on the right.
Our second photo shows the 4 versions on interior lights, which can use this LED panel as a direct replacement.
Our third photo shows a comparison of lights. The top left photo shows the original fuse-style bulb in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the top right. The lower left photo shows the LED light in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the lower right.
If your car only needs one, you might consider purchased part #7662 with 2 panels. Then you would have a spare and save $1.95.
If you need to replace the interior lights in car with T-Tops, you will need to order TWO, part #7662 for $19.95 (save $1.95.)
Another great interior restoration item.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

In this category we will run the descriptions for two to three weeks and, if there is no interest in that particular vehicle, it will be deleted the following week.
