Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 09-19-2018 –
EAST COAST BUICK REGIONALS EVENT –
While Friday racing was post phoned until that evening, Saturday the weather was picture perfect. It was hard to believe that a few hundred miles south Hurricane Florence was in full swing. This weather event kept many of the Buick owners from the south attending.
I was not at the track Friday night as Carrie and Darrell treated me to dinner for my birthday, in nearby Northeast, Maryland.
While I am sure the actual car count was down slightly from previous years, the event was still very well attended.
One thing I took particular notice to was the high number of T-Types and Turbo-Ts in attendance. Even the ultra rare Limited models I saw several. It was good to see such a wide variety of turbo Regals. There were several nice older GS Buicks including at least one GSX, in attendance as well. I did not see any GNXs.
There were various vendors selling new and used parts. G-Body as you might have expected was not able to make the trip due to the Hurricane.
PHOTO 1 – The first photo shows the very unique custom made trophies that were awarded to the various winners. These trophies were made from various engine parts! The other three photos of some of the very well detailed engine compartments on various 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. I can’t recall seeing any 1984-1985 Turbo Regals on the show field.
PHOTO 2 – The top left photo and top right photo shows this extremely nice 39,000 mile 1987 Turbo-T Limited. Note: It still has a good original black brake accumulator bowl. This Limited also has the rare optional cornering lamps on the front fenders. The bottom left and bottom right photos are of the blue 1987 Turbo-T that is listed for sale by Steve Perry under our Classified Ad section.
PHOTO 3 – The top left and top right show this prestine 1962 Skylark powered by the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal engine backed up with a 9 inch Ford rear end. This is a rust free California car. This is the definition of a “sleeper”. The bottom left shows a clever sign in front of a Grand National. The bottom right shows the rare Molly autograph from both 2002 and 2007 Reunion events. The Grand National belongs to long time customer Bob Sachs who years ago bought a front wheel drive Grand Sport from me. Not many Turbo cars would have two autographs by Molly.
PHOTO 4 – We show two of the rare parts we bought at the event. The first photo shows the custom Grand National valve covers. Although they are used they are in very good condition. The second photo shows the brand new 1984-1987 Turbo Regal radio face plate we also purchased. Both items can be seen listed for sale under Rare Parts. You must be a subscriber in order to see the Rare Parts section to know the price.
I tip my hat to the MAGNA Club on once again putting on a well run show and looking forward to going again next year.
UPGRADED LOWER STEERING SHAFT –
It has been at least 4 months since we been able to obtain of these upgraded used lower steering shafts. This is superior to the factory lower steering shaft, as these shafts have a metal universal joint at both ends. See Rare Parts section.
BURT REYNOLDS AND A GNX UP-DATE –
Last week I heard from Mike Jones who actually owns one of our Grand Nationals. He is a fire fighter in Jupiter Florida where Burt Reynolds made his home. A local Doctor in town owns and drives daily a Grand National. This Doctor said that when Burt was away on one his trips years ago one of his housekeeper/maid boyfriend took Burt’s GNX for a spin and wrecked it.
SCARY SITUATION –
It happened to a good friend of mine that makes parts for our company. He was swinging a hammer to dislodge a pulley when he saw blood coming out of a small hole in his shirt. Turns out a piece of the hammer had broken off and penetrated his chest. This splintered piece went within inches of his sternum! He was rushed to emergency and the Doctor was able to remove the splintered piece.
The lesson here is two-fold. Buy only a high quality US made hammer and wear a bullet proof vest! He was very lucky.
300-MILE 1987 GRAND NATIONAL HARDTOP –
You can now view a total of 16 photos of this 266-mile 1987 Grand National. I also have a list of all the work that was done to freshen up this prime example back to its original glory. A rare chance to own one of the lowest mileage 1987 Grand Nationals in the country.
This car has enjoyed inside storage in a warehouse in Texas since it was purchased and tucked away. Until last November 2017 it only had 50 miles on it! I am waiting for more info. Even the window sticker is still attached to the window!
Car has now been fully detailed.

WINDOW RACER™
The Window Racer™ - Because everything should go fast…
Make your 30+year-old power windows fly up and down like they never have before. Even better than they ever were new! Your windows will be just as fast as a new vehicle.
Simple installation, just plug and play.
If you have a power moon roof, it’s on the same circuit so this unit will make that operate faster too.
NOTE - It will also work on other vehicles if it has a 30 amp circuit breaker.
An excellent upgrade for your car.
We also offer a Window Rattle Elimination Kit, #7170. This replaces a lot of the worn out components in the door.
NOTE - You may also be interested in these related parts - #7170 Window Rattle Elimination Kit, #6949 Brand New Power Window Motor Kit, #7068 Reproduction Driver’s Side Dual Power Window Switch, #7069 - Reproduction Passenger’s Side Single Power Window Switch, and #7217 Reproduction Outside Door Sill Weatherstrips (2).
Here are some of the most common questions asked of the manufacturer:
Q - How hard is it to do and long does it take to install the Window Racer?
A - It will take you longer to get some tools together to access the fuse box. Usually a flat-head screw driver, 7mm sockets, etc. You are accessing the cover of the fuse box.
You simply find the 30 amp circuit breaker in the fuse box marked for the power windows. You remove the current 30 amp circuit breaker and install into Window Racer plug end the same way you removed the circuit breaker. The plug looks just like the circuit breaker you are removing.
You then plug the Window Racer where the circuit breaker is located.
Then you take a screw #10 or smaller and ground the black wire to a suitable ground. The key turned forward the red light will come on to let you know the unit is working. If the light does not come on, verify a good ground and that your key is turned to the accessory position.
Q - How do I know if it is working? I plugged it in but my dead window still isn’t working. Why?
A - Window Racer does not fix bad wiring, a bad motor, or switch. When the you hit the window switch, the green light comes on. You know that the circuit is completed and working. Motor is good and the circuit breaker is fine. The window is now going faster than I ever thought it could.
Q - How many Window Racers do I need for my vehicle?
A - Just one. It works all the windows and the factory power moon roof, if your car has a moon roof.
Q - My power moon roof?
A - Yes, it will make your factory moon roof fly back and forth, just like your windows.
Q - Can I operate all the windows and the moon roof at the same time?
A - Yes, the speed is quicker even if you operate both at the same time. However, it is not faster if you operate only one window.
Q - Can the Window Racer burn up my wiring? Will it cause damage to my switches? What about the motor, it has to be hurting the motor right?
A - No. Actually it takes less amps to operate the motors then it did from the factory. The Amp Load is what generally causes the switches and motors to die. You know this if you have or had a weak motor. Your switch went bad and you replaced this because it was easier than replacing the motor.
Q - Well this leads me to another question. Will it make a bad motor run like new?
A - During testing we have seen motors that allow the window to go down but not go back up. When Window Racer was installed, it actually allowed the window to go back up. Of course, not as fast as a good motor.
Q - Ok, this leads me to another question. What if I am out and for some reason the Window Racer would go bad? Am I stuck with my windows up or down?
A - No, the Window Racer has an internal protection because we know there will be that one person with two bad motors who doesn't want to change them and it will eventually kill the internal protection. If for some reason the unit fails, the circuit breaker allows the vehicle to go back to the slow factory operation like normal.
Q - How long is the Warranty?
A - There is a 1-year Manufacturer Warranty.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
