The plain one is #8053 and the one with Kirban Performance on the dial is #8054. The price is $191.95 for #8053 and $199.95 for #8054 with Kirban Performance on the dial. The three-color LED display gives you “real time” visual indication of the severity of detonation. It is a simple 3-wire hook up. It does require the use of the factory ESC module to operate. It may not be up on our website as of yet. You would have to call the office to order. BREAKING NEWS 4,000 MILE GNX COMING UP FOR SALE - This latest GNX for sale is located somewhere near me. The owner has had the car approximately 10 years and is away on vacation so info is limited until his return and the car gets checked out. It has been sitting in a garage with heat. He does have the jacket and book from what I understand. He wants to sell it. Watch for more details. It has not been offered for sale during the 10 years he has owned it. GIVING OUR READERS A HEADS UP - With Spring fast approaching interest is starting to pick up on the Turbo Regals I currently represent. In many cases it has felt like Spring since early January. To date in my immediate area we have had zero amount of any accountable snowfall! I for one am not complaining about catching a break from shoveling snow. VEHICLES STILL AVAILABLE - The 2006 Impala SS, and the 1955 MG TF needing a full restoration. ANOTHER UNUSUAL VEHICLE POSSIBLY FOR SALE 1984 DODGE RAMPAGE - I used to see the owner drive this little Dodge Rampage all the time up until about 2-3 years ago. It has been parked since then as it developed a miss and failed our State Inspection. Body is very straight and appears to be all original. The interior is also all original and fairly decent with the stock radio!. Besides the cap over the bed he has the factory flush mounted tonneau cover. Car is a manual 5-speed. It does have rot in the floor. Plus very minor rot on bottom rocker panels below the doors. The perfect candidate for a different power plant as it's the perfect combination to mate something newer for the powerplant and have a unique light weight vehicle. The seller has not given me a price, but I know he has turned down $1500 in the past. Email me for more details and pictures. Rampage is located about 6 miles from my house. PHOTO 1 - We show 4 views of this unique 1984 Dodge Rampage. ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS - I know whenever I buy a vehicle with the intention of keeping it for a length of time I create a folder to keep the records in and if the vehicle does not have the glove box booklets I seek them out on ebay etc. I also go to ebay to try and acquire an original sale brochure for the specific year and model. This way I have an idea how the model prefix I have stacks up in the chain of value for that particular car model. Most cars have like a 2 letter code and sometimes the 3 letter designation would be the high end model. Finding a window sticker in the glove box is extremely rare and having an undisturbed spare tire is another huge plus. Another plus especially with the higher end cars would be 2 original remotes especially the later ones where there is no key and the car has a push button start. Some of those newer remotes can run $500 or more! The really rare document was never supposed to end up in the buyers hands and that would be what is known as the “MSO” which stands for Manufacturer statement of Origin. Dealers get them with each new car and then apply for the typical title for the state they sell in. By some stroke of dumb luck I actually came across one in a vehicle in one of the junk yards I frequent. Ironically this one is for a 2002 Toyota Highlander, and we own a 2004 Toyota Highlander! See Photo 2 below! PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows the front side of a very rare MSO for a 2002 Toyota Highlander. In the same picture for a 1987 Buick shows a dealer reminder to the customer that his 1987 Buick is due for service! (I hope they flushed the brake fluid in this service!). The top right photo shows a 2 part postcard that the GM plant in Arlington, Texas sent out to buyers of GM vehicles from the assembly plant in Arlington, Texas. They are seeking comments for paint finish body fit, rattles water leaks, wind noise etc. Rate them good or poor. One can only imagine if Buick sent out a postcard from their Pontiac plant where all the 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regals came from wanting customers to rate paint finish, body fit, squeaks/rattles and water leaks! The other picture was a two sided set of directions regarding the new GM ignition lock system which I believe started in 1969 or 1970 going by memory. I think it hung off the mirror or went around the steering column? Today many cars just require the key to be near the dash and you hit a push button keeping your foot on the brake pedal! The bottom left photo shows both a 1987 and a 1988 GM Protection Plan Agreement. Also a 1986 GM Protection Plan Agreement and the 1985 Buick Value Plus Options. We show what was offered in the 1985 Regal Package Code system. The bottom right photo shows a paper Pennsylvania temporary paper license tag that would be placed in your back window. This you would get if you did not have a current metal tag to transfer. I assume most states have a similar program. The sold tag is actually from 1987 and would be attached I assume to the rear view mirror so potential buyers would know that this car has been sold and is awaiting delivery. As you can see I have an extensive collection of related paperwork to various cars. May not hold great value but its fun finding something new that I don’t have to add to my document collection. RARE PARTS OFFERING FOR THIS WEEK - See the Rare Parts section for the items featured in Photos 3 and 4 for prices. PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows a Buick factory manual entitled “Parts Identification and Inspection Guide. Dated 1986 which would be mostly the same for the 1987 year as well. Also shows 2 pages from this critical manual. The top right photo shows “Standard Parts Catalog” Again a factory manual from GM. The bottom left photo shows a good used drivers blue visor with factory mirror option and a matching blue plastic bucket seat trim with cut out for the power seat switch. The bottom right photo shows a similar format only this is for a burgundy Regal interior. PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows the complete kit to secure the spare and jack correctly in the trunk and a blem reproduction gray horn ring. The top right photo shows a NOS GM front bumper bracket one side only. The bottom left photo shows a new pair of the GNX upper body bushing set (2) and a complete power trunk release kit button and solenoid with directions. The bottom right photo shows a new set of GM door strikers and the door jamb reinforcement plates. OBSERVATIONS OF OUR PERSONAL BID LOT CAR EXPERIENCES - As many of you know I go to two bid lots once a week for a local country dealership. Generally one bid lot has about 25 to 30 cars and the other one can have anywhere from 25 to 65 cars including trucks. The bigger bid lot the dealer who runs it has about 25 dealerships in the area. All the cars have keys in them and my job is to check the ones that are of interest to the dealership I work part time for. Until I started doing this maybe 3 years ago I seldom even considered buying a foreign car outside of BMWs, Lexus, and Mercedes Benz. Used those three car models can be quite reasonable to buy. Reasonable is not even possible the first time any of those three cars require any kind of service. What makes the job challenging is finding worthy vehicles to buy that the dealer has put up for bids for one reason or another. It's a silent bid [plus you're hoping your bid is the highest. Results are not known until the following day. Dealers put these cars up for bid for various reasons. It can be years of neglect, engine or transmission issues, high mileage or rust preventing them from being inspected the reason the dealer is unloading the car or truck. Or if the car is not popular in our area it can be another reason. My job, like any other dealer at the bid lot, is to find the worthy gems among the deplorable ones. Trust me there have been many times some interiors are so disgusting I refuse to even sit in them let alone test drive them.. I am not sure how people can live like that and it makes me wonder what their inside of their house is like! Many of the Subaru wagons the owner or owners have had dogs which besides massive amounts of dog hair in the interior will have a destroyed center console lid scratched upper door panels and badly destroyed dash pads. If they are nice Subarus are quite popular. You quickly learn which car interiors hold up extremely well even with limited care and the same goes for the drive train. In my opinion the top three candidates to consider as a good dependable used cars are models of Toyota, Honda, Mazda. These 3 brands even with 200,000 miles on them generally perform quite well. In recent years Hyundai and Kia are also worth considering to some degree. Last week I got to compare a typical Ford Focus/Fusion that was absolutely mint inside and out. Even the alloy wheels showed great care. The mileage was 178,000. I don't recall the exact year or model Ford. I drove it and discovered the trans had major issues. So that car got crossed off the list to consider. Another car at the other bid lot was a 2008 Camry. The body was very close to mint and I was surprised it was not on the list to examine further for placing a possible bid. I then got in it to drive it and noticed the odometer reading 388,000 miles!. I had never even sat in a car with that high of miles showing. For kicks I started it. The engine was quiet. I then drove it. It drove fine transmission shifts without missing a beat. I was stunned. Now as a reader you are thinking well how do you know the transmission was not rebuilt? This is true, I don’t know, but I have driven enough Camrys and similar cars with 200,000 plus on them and the automatic transmissions have not been an issue. Also interiors at least the cloth interiors really hold up with minimum care in the Toyotas, Hondas, and Mazdas! Having a standard 140 speedometer and 6 digit odometer also creates confidence! Don’t take my word for it, go to any posts or car reviews and see for yourself and see how others rate my three top choices Toyota, Honda, and Mazda. On a side note, unlike GM cars and trucks from those years these three foreign makers have mastered what formula to use so the words on the various knobs for the radio heater etc do not wear off! Again this is strictly my opinion. Again from a standpoint of a good dependable used car that runs on regular gas and returns good gas mileage these 3 car lines are very worthy candidates even with 200,000 miles. UPCOMING BUICK EVENTS FOR 2023 - Below are three events that I am currently aware of. I plan to attend the GNX/GSX Reunion event held Friday June 23rd 2023 at the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, PA. This may be the only Buick event I attend this year. More on this as the time draws near. The asking price is $104,990. Of course this is before you get it transported and pay taxes in your location. It's worth mentioning it's like having a prized artwork at that price you can only look at it. Drive it and the value starts to drop and you let 2023 air enter into the interior, reducing the levels of the 1987 air that is held captive in the interior! Ist it worth it in the year 2023? Maybe to a select few individuals that are young enough to hopefully gain more value in their lifetime!
