NEW - 1984-1987 Buick Regal - Rubber Stoppers (13) Set -
This Rubber Stopper Set is one of the new products we made mention of last week. By combining two different sets, we are able to make this a complete kit specifically for your Turbo Regal. While some of these rubber stopper parts are the same as some of the other G-Body cars, some are different.
The critical stoppers in this set are the 3 round ones found under the hood. Probably due to the heat our engines put out, these 3 round bushings can become hard as a brick, making them totally useless. I know as mine were hard as a rock and it took me a half hour to remove them from the metal post they were attached to. The new rubber stoppers are pliable, which is what they should be. I was surprised the ones under my hood were that hard.
Over the years we have received several requests for the 2 stoppers on the trunk lid, which when properly adjusted keep the trunk lid from rattling. The 4 located on the door jamb area usually suffer from paint overspray, if your car has been repainted in the past.
This set is one of the best under $20 items you can buy for your Turbo Regal.
These are in stock for immediate shipping. See New Parts section below. They are part #7804.

ULTRA RARE CARLISLE GNX BANNER -
At this past June’s GM Carlisle event they made several different banners focusing on the various GM cars. They originally were a two-sided 3 by 5 foot banner. The Buick banner featured the front end of the Buick GNX. They only made a very few of these banners. I bought the last one they had when I was at the GM Carlisle event in June. I took it to my Illinois seminar and it sold at the No Reserve Auction.
I then contacted Carlisle and they granted me an exclusive to run a limited number of the same GNX banners, only printing it on one side, which cuts the cost and actually makes more sense. Most car owners would hang it on a wall in their pole building, garage, or if the spouse allows it, the living room. Having the banner two-sided would not be necessary.
At last week’s Hurst Nationals at Carlisle I picked up my order of the GNX banners. I now have them in stock. I have an exclusive on these banners, from what I understand, and at this point I am unsure if they will run them again for me.
PHOTO 2 - We show this cool-looking GNX banner that Carlisle Events did for this past GM Carlisle event 2017. These are excellent quality and thickness. See the Rare Parts section for prices.
HEMI-UNDER-GLASS HURST NATIONALS -
Unfortunately, the Hemi-Under-Glass car was not at the Hurst Nationals in Carlisle last weekend. This was a huge disappointment for those of us that attended this First Hurst Nationals. However, on the bright side, Bob Riggles was there both days and was kept quite busy signing his name to various photos of the Hemi-Under-Glass car and the two sizes of vinyl Hurst Nationals banners that Carlisle did for the event.
Several other Hurst employees were there as was Bill Campbell, the co-founder of Hurst. Most of these people I knew from years ago when I would be at the Hurst plant getting shifters rebuilt for customers on a regular basis.
Carlisle made 2 different size banners. Both had the same design featuring the Hemi-Under-Glass car. I made the mistake of waiting until Saturday morning to buy the Hurst banners. By 10 am Saturday morning, all they had left were 4 of the 3 by 5 foot banners, which I promptly bought. From what I understand, they only made a limited number of both banners. Most Hurst attendees probably bought one banner as a collector item for their garage and had Bob Riggles sign it. They are making another run of them later this summer. However, you would not be able to obtain Bob Riggles autograph on those.
PHOTO 3 - We show the Hemi-Under-Glass vinyl banner that was sold at the recent Hurst Nationals at Carlisle. This is the 3 by 5 foot banner autographed and dated personally by Bob Riggles. See the Rare Parts section as we have just 2 autographed banners available for sale.
OBSERVATIONS FROM CHRYSLER NATIONALS/HURST NATIONALS CARLISLE -
The weather Friday was not the greatest with rain putting a damper on the number of cars. Jason drove down from Canada and Devyn drove out to help me with my two seminars as well to take in the sights of this special Hurst event.
My Friday Hurst seminar had about 35 to 40 people in attendance. I spoke for a little over one hour sharing many stories about Hurst and, of course, showing some of the ultra rare Hurst items from my personal collection.
The M&Ms contest was a huge hit as the prize was an autographed by Don Garlits connecting rod from his top fuel dragster dated 2003. I made the comment, “If you do not like the prize, you could simply walk over to the Chrysler portion and I am sure you could easily sell it to a Hemi collector!”
I met up with a Buick customer that had sold his car and I bought several boxes of parts from him. I also hit two junkyards during the trip, and made a few really rare buys with a friend of mine at the Chrysler swap meet. I also picked up my order of the GNX vinyl banners that Carlisle did for me. See photo 2 in this issue. You can never have too many connections.
PHOTOS FROM THE HURST NATIONALS -
PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows myself, Bill Campbell, and Devyn. The top right photo shows the car owner, Homer, and myself standing in front of his original paint 1969 Hurst Olds racecar. The owner goes by the name of Homer, like Homer Simpson, and he even has a stand-up poster of Homer Simpson like I do in my private collection! The bottom left photo shows me conducting one of the seminars. Visible is not only a Hurst wheel can, but one of the Hurst wheels Hurst destroyed rather than discount the wheels. It is also the blue Hurst wheel that was used on the cover of the 1967 Hurst catalog. Also to the far left is the framed original artwork of the Hurst wheel. The photo to the bottom right shows an interior of an original 1983 Hurst Olds. Notice all the signed photos of Miss Hurst. Her autograph also appears on the glove box and also on the rear deck spoiler.
BY THE NUMBERS -
The weather was iffy on Friday at the recent combined Chrysler/Hurst Nationals Carlisle event. When Saturday rolled around, it was like everything quickly doubled in size. Even taking the back way into the fairgrounds, driving the last 1 mile took almost one hour. By 9 am Saturday traffic was backed up to the toll booth of the turnpike.
Chrysler fan or not, as a car guy it was impressive to see a lineup of over 15 Superbirds and Daytonas in one row. I also saw an equal number of Hellcats in a single row. There must have been 20 of the early 1966-1967 Barracudas. in a single row. Chrysler was there with their latest entry that has everyone talking, the Demon. It was bright blue in color, probably the one used for the magazine ads that shows the front wheels slightly off the ground.
This was by far the largest single car line event I think I have attended - ever. You know it’s huge when at the various bathroom locations there was a Carlisle employees pointing out which stall was vacant!
Let’s face it, Chrysler is smart. They crank out an impressive number of performance cars, including manual shift ones, year in and year out. This assures them that in years to come the current batch will become collectible long after collectors my age have passed on to the next world.
Granted, they also make the Fiat, which in some circumstances may be a more practical car. However, it’s the cars with that 4-letter word - HEMI- under the hood that sparks the interest.
I saw some cars in the Car for Sale area that were in the low-to-mid 6 figures price range. Most of those cars in the six digits had the Hemi under the hood. I know Devyn was equally impressed with the number of cars and the quality of cars she saw over the two days. One of my old-time Buick customers had a 2016 Hellcat for sale with a mere 4,000 miles on it for just $52 grand. New it sold for $74 grand. It was six-speed manual shift car and it seemed like a good deal.
BREAKING NEWS - IN STOCK ALUMINUM RADIATORS -

WE HAVE SOME NEAT NEW PARTS IN THE WORKS -
I did receive the sample part from Cardone on a new part they are making and it is still not correct. It can be very frustrating when you are trying to get something reproduced by another company and they are dealing with a source that fails to understand that it has to be exact.
We have several more items we hope to introduce in the next few weeks. The delay is not because I lack ideas, it’s because of trying to get companies to follow through on those ideas in a timely fashion.
BABY DRIVER MOVIE -
This past Friday night after a day at Carlisle, my granddaughter Devyn and I went to see the movie “Baby Driver.” We both enjoyed it immensely. The movie had a great story line and the rock n’ roll music was well coordinated with the driving scenes. Jamie Fox, one of the main well-known stars in the movie, is not a likable person in this movie!
IT’S PRETTY COOL -
Having just recently spoken at the GTOAA National convention, I think it’s pretty cool to have GTO owners want my autograph, and this past weekend being a VIP at the first Hurst Nationals. Some of those Hurst car owners also wanted my autograph. That makes 3 different venues where owners wanted my autograph. I am very humbled by this.
CLINT EASTWOOD -
Clint Eastwood, even at his remarkable age, is already planning his next movie based on the 3 real-life American heroes in the 2015 Paris train attack. In an unusual move, Clint plans to use the 3 real heroes acting as themselves rather than actors. It is interesting that Clint has focused on heroes in his recent past movies. I give him credit to accomplish so much at his age.
IN CASE YOU’RE WONDERING -
In case you’re wondering, the recent murder of 4 young men that grabbed national headlines did take place about 5 miles from our old house in Furlong. One of the 4 victims lived in Plumsteadville, Pennsylvania, which is where our warehouse I located. This was a very tragic story that is quite a shock to this peaceful area of the country.
CHECK IT OUT TWO NEW PARTS IN NEW PARTS SECTION -
We now have the 1984-1987 Regal Drop-In Flush Mounted AM/FM CD, AUX, MP3 player available. It is part #7803.
Also one of those small critical parts that makes a difference a Rubber Stopper (13) Set, which fits all 1984-1987 Regals including the Turbo Regal. See Photo 1 in this Inner Circle.
NOTE - IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SEE THE RARE PARTS SECTION -
If you are not able to see the Rare Parts section at the end of this Inner Circle, it is because you are not an Inner Circle member, but instead are reading this on the internet. You must subscribe to see the Rare Parts section each week. It would go directly to your inbox every Wednesday afternoon. It is FREE, probably one reason why nobody complains about what I write about.

URGENT NEED FOR CORRECT STEERING WHEEL CORES -
We have an urgent need for correct 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering wheel cores that are not bent. They can have minor rust on the spokes but cannot be pitted. If you owe us a steering wheel core, please send it in to get your core deposit back.
We have had to raise the core price in order to continue this service. Without cores, owners can’t get a redone leather wrapped steering wheel. Help us continue this needed service. We now issue a Letter for $100, if you have a correct 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering wheel core.
EMAILS TO KIRBAN PERFORMANCE -

If you need to email us, use - [email protected]
TIP FROM KIRBAN -
At more and more of the car show events I attend, car owners are looking for autographs from the VIP people. Years ago it was mostly at the Corvettes at Carlisle event where I would see car owners getting VIP people to sign either parts of their car, a poster, or a book. Autographs are always a good investment and generally are either free or cost very little.
TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -
If you have a tip or a discovery that you found that works on your Turbo Regal, drop us an email giving us the details so we can pass the info on to our readers. Remember, even with my knowledge, I don’t know it all. Simply email me at - [email protected]

GM FLUSH MOUNT KIT FOR AFTERMARKET RADIO
Some Turbo Regal owners may want to upgrade their radio to any of the various aftermarket radios available today.
Most of the radio mounting kits sold today for doing an aftermarket radio installation do not allow the radio to sit back in the factory bezel.
The end result is it looks tacky. This special mounting kit uses the factory radio side brackets which attach to the side of this mounting kit.
By using this method it allows any aftermarket radio/CD, etc. player to sit flush with the factory radio bezel. As the one photo shows it accepts two different size radio units, which will work with most Pioneer units as well as many of the other aftermarket brands.
You must have the factory brackets, which we show in the lower center photo. Those brackets do NOT come with the new kit.
This kit was made possible by one of our Turbo Regal customers who is in the radio installation business and has it in his personal Turbo-T.
See part #7803 if you want to purchase a complete Pioneer radio with the mounting kit included. That part number also shows you how it will look once installed in a Turbo Regal.
Photo on the top left shows all the pieces included in this kit.
Photo on the lower left shows the insert installed into the main housing, which you may use depending on the size of the radio you are installing.
Photo on the lower center shows the original radio brackets that you need to re-use from your stock radio to make this new mounting kit fit flush in the radio bezel opening. We do NOT include these brackets.
Photo on the right photo shows this kit installed on a Pioneer radio/CD player, so it sits flush in the radio bezel opening.

SPEEDOMETER CABLE GROMMET
REPRODUCTION ALUMINUM BRACKET
Over time, the original speedometer cable grommet bracket can break, since it’s only plastic. This reproduction bracket is made in aluminum, so it will last.
It is the only part that holds the grommet in place on the firewall to secure the speedometer cable.
I do not know if cars with the digital dash had this bracket or not. Regular Regals did not use this bracket, from what I can determine. I am also not aware if the 1984 and 1985 Turbo Regals used it. It can be difficult to see because it’s somewhat hidden by the harness behind the engine, which is also held in place with a metal bracket.
I have no idea why Buick used a plastic bracket secured by two 7mm screws for this connection. Check this bracket on your car. There’s probably a good chance it is broken.
NOTE - You can paint this bracket semi-gloss black or satin black to match the original bracket.
Another excellent replacement for any engine restoration.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
