EAST COAST BUICK REGIONALS UPDATE -
This past weekend was the East Coast Buick Regionals held at the Cecil County Dragway in Maryland.
The weather was picture perfect, as was the location. They had a great turn out, probably 80-85 Buicks in the show car area and another 25 or more in the racing.
Several vendors were set up including myself.
I think I counted three real GNXs in attendance, including one that still had the plastic on the seats and plastic on the floor as well.
I drove down to Maryland the day before. I went around to several small car dealers and showed the compact jumper kit. I jumped several cars that had been sitting for months in dealer lots. Our son has a place in northeast Maryland, so I stayed there Friday night.
One of the coolest things I saw that many of you probably have never seen is a factory heater box that does not have the air conditioning option.
Many racers usually remove the entire heater/ac unit and make a plate to go on the firewall. That works great if your car is strictly a racecar. However, if your Turbo Regal is also the car you drive in the winter, you need the heater to work so you can defrost the windshield.
A G-body car that only had a heater without the air conditioning option is extremely difficult to find. I know because in all my trips to junkyards, I never seen one yet.
The heater control panel in the car is also different as it would not make any reference to air conditioning on the face plate of the controls.
PHOTO 1 - The photo on the left shows the heater only unit in a Grand National. Note how easy it is now to remove the number 6 spark plug! The photo on the right shows the typical method that racers do when they remove the heater/air condition unit - simply making a plate to go in its place.
PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows looking down one of the main rows of show cars. The top right photo shows a typical vacuum brake conversion kit. I was by far the most popular conversion I saw at this event. Many of the cars with the powermaster had the newer-style Cardone brake bowl. The bottom left photo shows one of our billet adjustable fuel regulators that the owner has polished to show quality. The bottom right photo shows an unusual style 18 inch wheel. I believe they were 8 inches wide up front and 9-1/2 inches in the rear. Notice how small the brake rotor looks inside the wheel!

MINT SET OF FOUR ORIGINAL GRAND NATIONAL WHEELS -
Last week we bought a set of 1986-1987 Grand National wheels from one of our local customers. He took the wheels off of his original 1987 Grand in the late 1980s when he installed a set of our then new GNX style wheels (also known as the Kirban-style wheels.) Old timers may recall our source that made the Pontiac Ralley I wheels was able to make the GNX-style wheels based on an existing American Racing Equipment (ARE) wheel by simply putting the offset in a different spot. Then it would clear the frame and not hit the fenders when you turned the wheel.
At the time he switched to our Kirban-style GNX-style wheels, his original Grand National wheels had just under 4500 miles on them.

UPDATE ON THE NEW MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTER -
This Multi-Function Jump Starter has already proven to be the fastest selling product we have handled. We not only have local sales in our area, but also from our Buick customers. Currently there are delays in customs effecting shipments from that part of the country.
I have plenty on order and it’s just a matter of time to get them through customs. Again, if you want one, simply contact our office. We would not charge you until we have product on hand for delivery.
I have already demonstrated it at several local small local dealerships, and got immediate orders.
We are trying to get enough on order to have for sale at our Open House. One problem we face is the company shuts down for the first week of October.

A WORD ABOUT OUR REBUILT POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS -
As many of you realize, we been getting powermasters rebuilt for over a dozen years now by Cardone Industries.
Cardone is one of the largest rebuilders in the U.S.A., supplying all the major automotive chain stores for over 40 years. They have over 6,000 employees, 80 different product lines and are ISO certified.
Their headquarters is about 20 miles from our warehouse.
It has always been just a small percentage of powermaster brake units that have been rebuilt that had any issues over the years. They have a limited lifetime warranty and we have not had issues with having them rebuilt under warranty with their receipt.
Also, Cardone’s reproduction brake accumulator bowl has had zero problems. I know because we have sold a huge number of brake bowls since they first came on the market about 10 years ago.
Remember, the key to keeping the powermaster working properly is to change your brake fluid every 1-2 years, so it stays clear in appearance. This is important advice that Buick never told owners when these cars were new.

Unfortunately, we don’t expect to have any Stock Replacement Driver’s Side and Passenger’s Side Complete 409 Stainless Steel Headers Kits, part #7274, available until mid-October, according to TA Performance.
If you want a set, it’s best to call our office and get on the list because of the delays with this run. We expect to sell out quickly after filling existing orders. We would not charge your credit card until we know they are being shipped.

This is a local car for sale and is on our website complete with photos. It has had the same owner since 1985. It has always been stored every winter. Actual miles is 83,300. 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
304 STAINLESS STEEL ONE-PIECE 3″ DOWN PIPE &
CUSTOM ALUMINIZED TEST PIPE KIT
This one-piece 3 inch down pipe will work with any factory-style exhaust Turbo housing. You have to remove the exhaust elbow so this will bolt up to the turbo exhaust housing.
It has an internal wastegate and, unlike most of the other one-piece 3″ down pipes, the internal wastegate is serviceable if needed. You have to modify the side of the turbo shield if you plan to re-use the stock turbo shield. This 3″ down pipe does have a threaded port on it to accept an air sensor or O2 sensor if needed. A plug is included if you do not have to use this port.
This 3" one piece 304 stainless steel down pipe is mandrel bent and will clear the stock inner fender and firewall. Because of the age of these cars it is recommended you have fairly new motor mounts and transmission mount so clearances stay consistent. This down pipe is slightly longer than the stock down pipe, so you have to use the custom 12″ aluminized test pipe that comes in this kit. The test pipe has the correct 4 bolt flange on it to bolt up to the factory style Y pipe. You will not be able to use a catalytic converter unless you find one that has a 3" diameter opening and is only 12″ long.
Kit comes with hardware to secure the down pipe to the Turbo. No gaskets are required.
Gains on a typical stock application in a quarter mile with no other changes are 2-3 mph and 2/10ths in a quarter mile.
This basic design has been popular for many years. This is the latest version.

DUAL FAN CONVERSION KIT and
CUSTOM-MADE PLUG-AND-PLAY HARNESS
We offer three options to upgrade the factory single electric fan on a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal to a dual fan format. Each fan has a 12" diameter sweep. There are no clearance issues between the radiator and the factory intercooler shroud. The unit is 3-1/2" deep. The overall width of the unit is 26" and the length is 16".
The complete kit includes a brand new Intrepid dual fan and a custom-made plug-and-play harness. This harness is specific to the Intrepid dual fan.
One of the beneficial upgrades to make to provide better cooling is to install a dual fan set up to replace the 25+-year-old single electric fan. The factory Buick fan relay cannot safely sustain the full load of dual electric fans. That is why it’s advisable to install a supplemental relay system.
This custom-made plug-and-play harness is specially designed to make the conversion easy. This plug-and-play harness consists of two sealed relays. The relays are both energized by the factory fan relay in your car, reducing the circuit load on the factory relay and permitting full coolant fan control without the risk of overload. The fans are both powered at high speed when cooling is commanded via factory low speed coolant fan control through the ECM. This system assures proper load through the relays with proper power distribution.
This kit plugs into the factory fan connector, unlike other harnesses that require you to cut off the factory connector. The factory connector is entirely reliable and should not be cut.
The plug-and-play harness is made in the U.S.A. and comes with easy-to-follow directions with photos.
We offer 3 options. The first option is for the entire conversion kit, which includes a new Dodge Intrepid dual fan kit and the special custom-made plug-and-play harness. The second option is for the dual fan only. The last option is just for the custom-made plug-and-play harness.
NOTE - We recommend installation be done by a qualified mechanic.
IMPORTANT NOTE - You have to custom make brackets to mount the dual fan housing so you can secure this to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal radiator core support at the top and bottom. You also have to cut off the original mounting tabs on the side of this dual fan housing since they do not get used. There is a link on the Turbo Buick forum with photos that shows what you have to do. Basically you have to cut off the 2 plastic mounting tabs on both sides of the housing and fabricate some small piece of angle iron to secure it to the original top brackets and the bracket at the bottom of the core support.
This dual fan set up is for a Dodge Intrepid and is the one that most 1986-1987 Turbo Regal owners have used for this modification. It is also the one that will plug into the custom-made plug-and-play harness we offer. Be sure to click on the link below so you fully understand what you need to do to modify the dual fan housing to attach to the radiator bracket and core support.

We will conduct a demonstration of the Multi-Function Jump Starter kit. I will bring to the event the dead battery that has been in the Regal at our house since 2010. I will install it in our 1987 Turbo-T at our event and you will be able to see for yourself a simple battery pack weighing less than 9 ounces will crank our Turbo Regal. Seeing is believing! This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

EAST COAST BUICK REGIONALS UPDATE -
This past weekend was the East Coast Buick Regionals held at the Cecil County Dragway in Maryland.
The weather was picture perfect, as was the location. They had a great turn out, probably 80-85 Buicks in the show car area and another 25 or more in the racing.
Several vendors were set up including myself.
I think I counted three real GNXs in attendance, including one that still had the plastic on the seats and plastic on the floor as well.
I drove down to Maryland the day before. I went around to several small car dealers and showed the compact jumper kit. I jumped several cars that had been sitting for months in dealer lots. Our son has a place in northeast Maryland, so I stayed there Friday night.
One of the coolest things I saw that many of you probably have never seen is a factory heater box that does not have the air conditioning option.
Many racers usually remove the entire heater/ac unit and make a plate to go on the firewall. That works great if your car is strictly a racecar. However, if your Turbo Regal is also the car you drive in the winter, you need the heater to work so you can defrost the windshield.
A G-body car that only had a heater without the air conditioning option is extremely difficult to find. I know because in all my trips to junkyards, I never seen one yet.
The heater control panel in the car is also different as it would not make any reference to air conditioning on the face plate of the controls.
PHOTO 1 - The photo on the left shows the heater only unit in a Grand National. Note how easy it is now to remove the number 6 spark plug! The photo on the right shows the typical method that racers do when they remove the heater/air condition unit - simply making a plate to go in its place.
PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows looking down one of the main rows of show cars. The top right photo shows a typical vacuum brake conversion kit. I was by far the most popular conversion I saw at this event. Many of the cars with the powermaster had the newer-style Cardone brake bowl. The bottom left photo shows one of our billet adjustable fuel regulators that the owner has polished to show quality. The bottom right photo shows an unusual style 18 inch wheel. I believe they were 8 inches wide up front and 9-1/2 inches in the rear. Notice how small the brake rotor looks inside the wheel!

MINT SET OF FOUR ORIGINAL GRAND NATIONAL WHEELS -
Last week we bought a set of 1986-1987 Grand National wheels from one of our local customers. He took the wheels off of his original 1987 Grand in the late 1980s when he installed a set of our then new GNX style wheels (also known as the Kirban-style wheels.) Old timers may recall our source that made the Pontiac Ralley I wheels was able to make the GNX-style wheels based on an existing American Racing Equipment (ARE) wheel by simply putting the offset in a different spot. Then it would clear the frame and not hit the fenders when you turned the wheel.
At the time he switched to our Kirban-style GNX-style wheels, his original Grand National wheels had just under 4500 miles on them.

UPDATE ON THE NEW MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTER -
This Multi-Function Jump Starter has already proven to be the fastest selling product we have handled. We not only have local sales in our area, but also from our Buick customers. Currently there are delays in customs effecting shipments from that part of the country.

A WORD ABOUT OUR REBUILT POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS -
As many of you realize, we been getting powermasters rebuilt for over a dozen years now by Cardone Industries.
Cardone is one of the largest rebuilders in the U.S.A., supplying all the major automotive chain stores for over 40 years. They have over 6,000 employees, 80 different product lines and are ISO certified.
Their headquarters is about 20 miles from our warehouse.
It has always been just a small percentage of powermaster brake units that have been rebuilt that had any issues over the years. They have a limited lifetime warranty and we have not had issues with having them rebuilt under warranty with their receipt.
Also, Cardone’s reproduction brake accumulator bowl has had zero problems. I know because we have sold a huge number of brake bowls since they first came on the market about 10 years ago.
Remember, the key to keeping the powermaster working properly is to change your brake fluid every 1-2 years, so it stays clear in appearance. This is important advice that Buick never told owners when these cars were new.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
304 STAINLESS STEEL ONE-PIECE 3″ DOWN PIPE &
CUSTOM ALUMINIZED TEST PIPE KIT
This one-piece 3 inch down pipe will work with any factory-style exhaust Turbo housing. You have to remove the exhaust elbow so this will bolt up to the turbo exhaust housing.
It has an internal wastegate and, unlike most of the other one-piece 3″ down pipes, the internal wastegate is serviceable if needed. You have to modify the side of the turbo shield if you plan to re-use the stock turbo shield. This 3″ down pipe does have a threaded port on it to accept an air sensor or O2 sensor if needed. A plug is included if you do not have to use this port.
This 3" one piece 304 stainless steel down pipe is mandrel bent and will clear the stock inner fender and firewall. Because of the age of these cars it is recommended you have fairly new motor mounts and transmission mount so clearances stay consistent. This down pipe is slightly longer than the stock down pipe, so you have to use the custom 12″ aluminized test pipe that comes in this kit. The test pipe has the correct 4 bolt flange on it to bolt up to the factory style Y pipe. You will not be able to use a catalytic converter unless you find one that has a 3" diameter opening and is only 12″ long.
Kit comes with hardware to secure the down pipe to the Turbo. No gaskets are required.
Gains on a typical stock application in a quarter mile with no other changes are 2-3 mph and 2/10ths in a quarter mile.
This basic design has been popular for many years. This is the latest version.

DUAL FAN CONVERSION KIT and
CUSTOM-MADE PLUG-AND-PLAY HARNESS
We offer three options to upgrade the factory single electric fan on a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal to a dual fan format. Each fan has a 12" diameter sweep. There are no clearance issues between the radiator and the factory intercooler shroud. The unit is 3-1/2" deep. The overall width of the unit is 26" and the length is 16".
The complete kit includes a brand new Intrepid dual fan and a custom-made plug-and-play harness. This harness is specific to the Intrepid dual fan.
One of the beneficial upgrades to make to provide better cooling is to install a dual fan set up to replace the 25+-year-old single electric fan. The factory Buick fan relay cannot safely sustain the full load of dual electric fans. That is why it’s advisable to install a supplemental relay system.
This custom-made plug-and-play harness is specially designed to make the conversion easy. This plug-and-play harness consists of two sealed relays. The relays are both energized by the factory fan relay in your car, reducing the circuit load on the factory relay and permitting full coolant fan control without the risk of overload. The fans are both powered at high speed when cooling is commanded via factory low speed coolant fan control through the ECM. This system assures proper load through the relays with proper power distribution.
This kit plugs into the factory fan connector, unlike other harnesses that require you to cut off the factory connector. The factory connector is entirely reliable and should not be cut.
The plug-and-play harness is made in the U.S.A. and comes with easy-to-follow directions with photos.
We offer 3 options. The first option is for the entire conversion kit, which includes a new Dodge Intrepid dual fan kit and the special custom-made plug-and-play harness. The second option is for the dual fan only. The last option is just for the custom-made plug-and-play harness.
NOTE - We recommend installation be done by a qualified mechanic.
IMPORTANT NOTE - You have to custom make brackets to mount the dual fan housing so you can secure this to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal radiator core support at the top and bottom. You also have to cut off the original mounting tabs on the side of this dual fan housing since they do not get used. There is a link on the Turbo Buick forum with photos that shows what you have to do. Basically you have to cut off the 2 plastic mounting tabs on both sides of the housing and fabricate some small piece of angle iron to secure it to the original top brackets and the bracket at the bottom of the core support.
This dual fan set up is for a Dodge Intrepid and is the one that most 1986-1987 Turbo Regal owners have used for this modification. It is also the one that will plug into the custom-made plug-and-play harness we offer. Be sure to click on the link below so you fully understand what you need to do to modify the dual fan housing to attach to the radiator bracket and core support.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
