1993 GMC TYPHOON BROCHURE -
Last week we mentioned a 1993 GMC Typhoon we are selling for the owner. The buyer will also receive this piece of literature - an original 1993 GMC brochure. This full-color brochure first opens to a tri-fold, then opens again to 24" wide x 20" high.
PHOTO 1 -These photos shows the 1993 GMC Typhoon brochure. Top left shows the cover and the top right shows it open to the tri-fold. The lower two photos show the inside fully-opened spread (on the left) and the fully opened back (on the right.)
MORE STORIES ABOUT MY MOM AND DAD -
Thanks for all the kind sympathy emails and cards we've received.
This past Saturday we held the Memorial Service for my Mom at our house. Almost 50 people were in attendance with several of our family flying in from Florida, North Carolina and Washington state. The following photos are ones we found when we went through more of the boxes we got from their storage building that I think you will find interesting.
PHOTO 2 - Shows my Mom and myself at one of our early GTO-Buick Reunion events held at the Johnsville Airbase in nearby Warminster. This would have been around 1990-1991. The second photo shows the letter my Dad wrote promoting the "Synchro-Matic Plates" for automotive distributors. From reading the flyer, it was a new stationery breaker plate that went in the distributor that would give trouble-free ignition and no vibration over the stock breaker plate. The flyer lists some of the applications, one version fit cars Chrysler products from 1935 thru 1948. Another version fit GM vehicles, which had Delco-Remy distributors from 1937 through 1948. With a $3.95 price, it appears this was a bargain, if indeed it performed as stated. My Mom would sell this to various garages and gas stations in the area where we lived.
In going through the more than 35 boxes of photographs from my parents, they certainly did their small part to help keep Kodak in business! I found two of the autograph albums my Dad collected back when he was a Junior and a Senior at Girard College, which was a home for fatherless boys and still is operation today. He would send a typewritten note to some of the politicians, military figures, and movie stars of the day asking for their autograph. Back then these celebrities would usually send a personalized autographed photo or a card with their autograph.
Unfortunately, I can't read the names or figure out who some of the autographs are from in these albums. As you might expect, for a 15-17-year-old male, many are of young woman movie stars that were popular during the early 1940s.
PHOTO 3 - In the first photo we show one of my Dad's wooden scrapbooks, where he had collected and laminated his autographs.
The other photos show just three of the movie actresses, two of which were personally autographed to Salem, which was my Dad. The top right is from Bette Davis. She starred in over 100 films and in 1999 the American Film Institute placed her second behind Katharine Hepburn as the greatest female film star of all time. The lower left photo is Linda Darnell, another movie actress. In 1944 Linda Darnell was voted one of the four most beautiful women in Hollywood along side Hedy Lamar, Ingrid Bergman and Gene Tierney. The lower right photo is of Helen Hayes, who had a 70-year career in the movies. She is just one of twelve to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award. All of these women were big names in the movie industry in the mid-1940s.
PHOTO 4 - Dad also got autographs from some of the biggest names behind the camera in the movies. The top left photo is Cecil B. DeMille, producer and director. He did the movies "Cleopatra" and the "Ten Commandments."
The top right photo shows Frank Capra, a movie director who had many hit movies during that time period, including "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" starring Jimmy Stewart, "Arsenic and Old Lace," which starred Cary Grant, and one movie that is a stand out every Christmas "It's a Wonderful Life," which also starred Jimmy Stewart. Last, but not least, the lower photo personally addressed to my Dad is one every one will recognize - Walt Disney!
My Dad only had a few from sport figures. There is one of Jimmy Fox, the baseball player, and another one Connie Mack, who owned the Philadelphia baseball team in the 1940s.
Most of the politicians he has autographs for are not people that created a lasting memory compared to the movie industry. Unfortunately, over the years much of his autograph collection has been lost. According to my Dad's notes, he had over 200 of them.
Next week we will return to the subject of Turbo Buicks.

Remember, cores help us help others keep their Turbo Regals on the road using factory parts. Without cores, a valuable portion of what customers need get discontinued.
ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -
Got any turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - [email protected].
Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE - We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected].
