BREAKING NEWS - 1987 TURBO-T - 33,800 MILES - ONE OWNER - FOR SALE -
This car actually has a bit of a connection with me. First the owner originally lived in my area and actually bought this 1987 Turbo-T off the same Buick dealership in Lansdale, PA that we purchased our 1987 Grand National from! (Dealership is long gone unfortunately).
This seller is now 77 years young and has maintained this Turbo-T to very high standards. Few years back they moved to North Carolina. However, he has driven the car to several events in my area and I have put my business card on the car at these car shows. He has been a long time customer of ours also. Car has always been in the garage.
This is a Kirban quality car that has won at AACA First Junior in April 2012 and AACA Senior in April 2013. It has also won the Preservation award 3 times 2014, 2015, and 2018. These accomplishments require the car to be of very high standards. The tires have been replaced, but he has retained the original tires. The exhaust has been changed. AC has been switched to 134. When the car was fairly new he bought the 3-piece Grand National rear deck spoiler from GM and had it painted silver and installed on his Turbo-T. Otherwise it's all stock. Zero rust.
Car is well optioned, silver exterior, grey bucket seats, hardtop, am/fm cassette, tilt, cruise, delay wipers, posi rear, exterior sport package (black out), rear defogger, carpet savers, and front license bracket. It also has the very desirable aluminum bumper reinforcement brackets (VD6 and VD7 SPI codes).
This car has never been offered for sale until now. By coincidence the car is 33 years old and has 33,XXX miles on it. Good color combo silver exterior with sport package, gray bucket seats, hardtop, documents, garaged its entire life, and one I have seen personally a number of times over the years.
The owner also has original photos of when he and his wife picked up the car brand new at the dealership which would be included to go with the car to the new owner. He says it was the first new car he ever bought.
Here is a list of upgrades and repairs he has done over the years. New headliner, horn ring, coil pack, ignition module, brake bowl, IAC valve, fillers, new radials (correct size) GM factory rear spoiler, and cat back exhaust.

1986 BUICK ORIGINAL DEALER ALBUM -
It's been years since I had any original 1986 or 1987 Buick dealer albums for sale. I recently purchased this one. The condition of this one is very good. Even the outside vinyl binder is not marked up or has any cuts in it. The introductory letter dated June 12th 1985 is still present. The Dealer album appears to be complete over 1 ½ inches thick.
Of interest to you as a Turbo Regal owner the Regal section appears to be 100% complete. Most 1986 Turbo Regal owners are fully aware of the popular code WH1 which was the two tone exterior package black and code 15 gray. What you may not realize rarer still would be any of the four different other two tone combinations they offered.
They were dark blue/light blue, gray/silver, brown/light brown, and dark red/rosewood. The gray and silver combo would be very close to the WH1 combination. Going by memory I did have a two tone blue one, and a dark red/rosewood many years ago. I did have a brown one but I don’t think it was the two tone version. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to get any real production figures on these unique two tone combinations that Buick offered in the 1986 T-Types. I would say this, if you got one and hit every major car show over a year's time I doubt you will see a twin to your two tone combo!
According to the 1986 Dealer Album Buick offered 8 different color stripes. That is quite a wide variety of available stripes. Under the Regal interior seat section there are a few things of note. They actually show a picture of the grey Lear Sieglar seats. This never happened as production was halted before it began from records I have seen.
Course, in the Limited regular Regals in 1986 you had a choice of 45/45 leather seats in gray or tan. The code was 973 for tan and the code for the gray was 976. Very few buyers realized they also listed code 986 for tan and code 983 for gray if you opted to get the 45/45 leather seats in the T-Type! Note the codes were different for the T-Type models. In my book I have the count for each color leather seat format that ended up in T-Types in 1986. This rare option probably got overlooked by most T-Type buyers; it put the shifter on the column and not on the floor.
Funny story on the pillow leather seat option in 1986 and how that came about. Back when I was writing the Kirban Guide book I was buying and selling a lot of these cars. I bought a black 1986 T-Type out of Indiana. It had the optional astroroof option. The buyer told me his car had the pillow leather seats. I thought it was a mistake until I called my inside source at Buick to verify that it was an option! Remember back then this was before the internet, and before I knew much of what I now know! All this can be verified by this original 1986 Buick Dealer Album.
Under the LeSabre section is a single full color page showing the limited production LeSabre Grand National. To my knowledge the 1986 Buick Dealer album is the first to give mention to the availability of a dealer installed car telephone. It also recommends a heavy duty battery if you purchase this dealer option. Every Buick model in 1986 had that same 85 mph speedometer. Not exactly a selling feature when you have a car in your model line up that out accelerates the halo car at Chevrolet, the Corvette. Even the lowly Yugo had a 120 speedo in it when it was released in 1988.

COLLECTOR CAR COLLECTION UPDATE - THREE TURBO REGALS & ONE SYCLONE -
The 1986 blue T-Type and the 1987 Grand National he purchased brand new. He is the 3rd owner of the white 1987 Turbo-T. These cars are located in Tennessee.
In each case he has the original parts that he removed years ago when the modifications were done. Some of them have the very desirable AVC GNX style dash installed. All the below cars have been fitted with SECO alarm systems and keyless entry. In my opinion the blue 1986 T-Type is a fairly rare car due to its color. Plus it has low miles. All these cars have always been in Tennessee so rust is not an issue. All have been garaged most of their life.
He has a white 1987 Turbo Regal with T-Tops. He did not buy this car brand new. It has the M & A Casting aluminum heads on them that were introduced in the early 1990s time frame. I had one of the first sets on our personal Grand National. Back then they sold for around $2500 a set. This car has been raced and has run in the high 6 second range for the ⅛ mile. The car is slightly twisted due to its racing history and the fact it has T-Tops. Miles is about 75,000. The price is $25,000 OBO. See Photo 3 below.
The 1987 Grand National he purchased this car brand new and has 112,000. It has the rare astro roof option. It was repainted many years ago 1984 Corvette firemist color. Reasonably priced at $20,000 OBO.
The light blue Turbo Regal is a 1986 T-Type Regal. He purchased this car brand new. Due to the original poor quality paint job he actually had the Buick dealership respray the car under warranty. Internally stock with zero rust. Car has approximately 67,000 miles. It is a hardtop. The price is $25,000 OBO.
He also purchased the Syclone brand new. Like all the others listed here this also has been garaged since new. Mileage is approximately 9,500. The price is $44,900 OBO. The last three digits of the VIN is 294 which I believe is also the number of the Syclone produced.

GTO HEAVEN REUNION 1988 -
I recently came across the VHS tape that we had professionally filmed at our first event June 21st and 22nd 1988. This event was held in the middle of the week and featured around 350 cars on our property and our neighbors property. The timing worked because the GTOAA and POCI National events were nearby and a week apart. Our event gave members something to attend in the middle of the week. The DVD runs about 1 hour in length. One GNX does show up in the video but it's all about GTOs and Hurst. In 1988 the Turbo Buicks were just starting to catch on. I believe we were actually the first to recognize the Turbo Regals and start a business with those cars.
Paul Zazarine the editor of Car Review came up from Florida. Chuck Roberts, the co-author with Paul Zazarine on the Pontiac GTO Restoration Guide book was also in attendance. In the video I interview several Hurst employees including Bill Campbell the co-founder of Hurst, Bob Held the art director and Don Lane who developed the 1967 GTO Hurst dual gate. We had nine GTOs with Hurst wheels on them. Hurst had recently been sold to Mr Gasket in Ohio. We also had a super rare 1969 GTO Judge in attendance that was fitted with a ram air V engine! One couple drove their GTO to this event from Texas over 1,6000 miles. Two guys flew in from New Mexico. You get to see a very young Darrell who was like 18 years old with his 1968 GTO that used to belong to his Mom!
At the end of the DVD is a very humorous skit featuring my wife Eileen and Darrell's high school friend Mark. It also features our new 1987 Grand National. A great memory DVD. We only had 7 copies made and they appear under the Rare Parts section in this Inner Circle.

The 9-piece trunk kit is identical to the factory option. Plus it hides that spare and jack that you probably don’t have in the trunk the way Buick did it from the factory!
Also we just picked up more of the Cold Case upgraded radiators. This is the radiator of choice for Lorenz Racing and Performance. He has installed over 40 of them. He says it is by far the best. He explained what needs to be done to make installation easier. So we now do this modification prior to shipping them plus include some basic tips to make installation easier. You also save almost 10 lbs not to mention get a new upgraded radiator that will flow far better than the 33 year old one currently in your car. You almost pay that much to get the stock one recored as you would this new lightweight one! The part number is #7457. We recommend you call our office to order one. These would ship next week.

We discovered that FedEx will not forward any packages that are sent to the old PO Box or to our old address in Plumsteadville. Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside or send them back to the shipper. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.

STEERING WHEEL CORES. Currently we need good 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering cores. They must be straight and not have rusted spokes. We will issue a Letter of Credit of $100 for each acceptable core. You must email me [email protected] a photo first to make sure the steering wheel is acceptable.
POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS. Currently, we are accepting powermaster brake units. We give a $150 Letter-of-Credit for each acceptable core. If you include the turbo pedal add $10. You would receive $160 Letter-of-Credit. To avoid having your core not accepted, you MUST first email me a photo of the core you plan to send in - [email protected] - We will NOT accept any cores that have severe rust issues or have been disassembled. Core must have the
brake switch and brake bowl reservoir. Too many of the cores we have been getting are in such terrible shape they are worthless to us.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $175 Letter-of-Credit for each acceptable core. We need cores now.

The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.

One thing that has been missing all these years for the Turbo Regal owner is a nice stainless black powder-coated license plate frame. We have designed several with a unique tagline referring to some of the most collectible high-performance car models.
We have come up with the various designs shown in Photo 2.
The handsome metal black license plate frame measures 12-1/4″ x 6-1/4″, which is the standard size to hold state license plates. Frames are made from stainless steel, then powder-coated black for lasting quality.
Included with each frame is a packet of new attaching hardware, complete with black caps so the hardware doesn’t show.
Each frame comes with the decal already affixed. Most of the decals are white wording on a black background. Several decals are two colors (white and red) on a black background.
Notice the font style for the tagline “HIGH OUTPUT V6” decal matches the 3.8 sfi turbo hood emblems.

Originally Buick put all the documents in a plain clear plastic bag. Since these turbo cars didn’t come with a holder in the car, we’ve designed one.
Our black vinyl Owner’s Manual holder measures 6-3/4" x 10" and fits perfectly in your glove box.

Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to get any real production figures on these unique two tone combinations that Buick offered in the 1986 T-Types. I would say this, if you got one and hit every major car show over a year's time I doubt you will see a twin to your two tone combo!
According to the 1986 Dealer Album Buick offered 8 different color stripes. That is quite a wide variety of available stripes. Under the Regal interior seat section there are a few things of note. They actually show a picture of the grey Lear Sieglar seats. This never happened as production was halted before it began from records I have seen.
Course, in the Limited regular Regals in 1986 you had a choice of 45/45 leather seats in gray or tan. The code was 973 for tan and the code for the gray was 976. Very few buyers realized they also listed code 986 for tan and code 983 for gray if you opted to get the 45/45 leather seats in the T-Type! Note the codes were different for the T-Type models. In my book I have the count for each color leather seat format that ended up in T-Types in 1986. This rare option probably got overlooked by most T-Type buyers; it put the shifter on the column and not on the floor.
Funny story on the pillow leather seat option in 1986 and how that came about. Back when I was writing the Kirban Guide book I was buying and selling a lot of these cars. I bought a black 1986 T-Type out of Indiana. It had the optional astroroof option. The buyer told me his car had the pillow leather seats. I thought it was a mistake until I called my inside source at Buick to verify that it was an option! Remember back then this was before the internet, and before I knew much of what I now know! All this can be verified by this original 1986 Buick Dealer Album.
Under the LeSabre section is a single full color page showing the limited production LeSabre Grand National. To my knowledge the 1986 Buick Dealer album is the first to give mention to the availability of a dealer installed car telephone. It also recommends a heavy duty battery if you purchase this dealer option. Every Buick model in 1986 had that same 85 mph speedometer. Not exactly a selling feature when you have a car in your model line up that out accelerates the halo car at Chevrolet, the Corvette. Even the lowly Yugo had a 120 speedo in it when it was released in 1988.

COLLECTOR CAR COLLECTION UPDATE - THREE TURBO REGALS & ONE SYCLONE -
The 1986 blue T-Type and the 1987 Grand National he purchased brand new. He is the 3rd owner of the white 1987 Turbo-T. These cars are located in Tennessee.
In each case he has the original parts that he removed years ago when the modifications were done. Some of them have the very desirable AVC GNX style dash installed. In each case email me [email protected] and let me know which car interests you. I can forward you more photos and supply you with the email address to the seller.
All the below cars have been fitted with SECO alarm systems and keyless entry. In my opinion the blue 1986 T-Type is a fairly rare car due to its color. Plus it has low miles. All these cars have always been in Tennessee so rust is not an issue. All have been garaged most of their life.
He has a white 1987 Turbo Regal with T-Tops. He did not buy this car brand new. It has the M & A Casting aluminum heads on them that were introduced in the early 1990s time frame. I had one of the first sets on our personal Grand National. Back then they sold for around $2500 a set. This car has been raced and has run in the high 6 second range for the ⅛ mile. The car is slightly twisted due to its racing history and the fact it has T-Tops. Miles is about 75,000. The price is $25,000 OBO. See Photo 3 below.
The 1987 Grand National he purchased this car brand new and has 112,000. It has the rare astro roof option. It was repainted many years ago 1984 Corvette firemist color. Reasonably priced at $20,000 OBO.
The light blue Turbo Regal is a 1986 T-Type Regal. He purchased this car brand new. Due to the original poor quality paint job he actually had the Buick dealership respray the car under warranty. Internally stock with zero rust. Car has approximately 67,000 miles. It is a hardtop. The price is $25,000 OBO.
He also purchased the Syclone brand new. Like all the others listed here this also has been garaged since new. Mileage is approximately 9,500. The price is $44,900 OBO. The last three digits of the VIN is 294 which I believe is also the number of the Syclone produced.

PHOTO 3 - Here are 4 views of the 1987 white Turbo-T with T tops that is for sale. This car has about 75,000 miles on it. The price is $25,000 OBO. This has the ultra rare M&A aluminum heads on it.
GTO HEAVEN REUNION 1988 -
I recently came across the VHS tape that we had professionally filmed at our first event June 21st and 22nd 1988. This event was held in the middle of the week and featured around 350 cars on our property and our neighbors property. The timing worked because the GTOAA and POCI National events were nearby and a week apart. Our event gave members something to attend in the middle of the week. The DVD runs about 1 hour in length. One GNX does show up in the video but it's all about GTOs and Hurst. In 1988 the Turbo Buicks were just starting to catch on. I believe we were actually the first to recognize the Turbo Regals and start a business with those cars.
Paul Zazarine the editor of Car Review came up from Florida. Chuck Roberts, the co-author with Paul Zazarine on the Pontiac GTO Restoration Guide book was also in attendance. In the video I interview several Hurst employees including Bill Campbell the co-founder of Hurst, Bob Held the art director and Don Lane who developed the 1967 GTO Hurst dual gate. We had nine GTOs with Hurst wheels on them. Hurst had recently been sold to Mr Gasket in Ohio. We also had a super rare 1969 GTO Judge in attendance that was fitted with a ram air V engine! One couple drove their GTO to this event from Texas over 1,6000 miles. Two guys flew in from New Mexico. You get to see a very young Darrell who was like 18 years old with his 1968 GTO that used to belong to his Mom!
At the end of the DVD is a very humorous skit featuring my wife Eileen and Darrell's high school friend Mark. It also features our new 1987 Grand National. A great memory DVD. We only had 7 copies made and they appear under the Rare Parts section in this Inner Circle.

The 9-piece trunk kit is identical to the factory option. Plus it hides that spare and jack that you probably don’t have in the trunk the way Buick did it from the factory!
Also we just picked up more of the Cold Case upgraded radiators. This is the radiator of choice for Lorenz Racing and Performance. He has installed over 40 of them. He says it is by far the best. He explained what needs to be done to make installation easier. So we now do this modification prior to shipping them plus include some basic tips to make installation easier. You also save almost 10 lbs not to mention get a new upgraded radiator that will flow far better than the 33 year old one currently in your car. You almost pay that much to get the stock one recored as you would this new lightweight one! The part number is #7457. We recommend you call our office to order one. These would ship next week.

We discovered that FedEx will not forward any packages that are sent to the old PO Box or to our old address in Plumsteadville. Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside or send them back to the shipper. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use FedEx. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

STEERING WHEEL CORES. Currently we need good 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering cores. They must be straight and not have rusted spokes. We will issue a Letter of Credit of $100 for each acceptable core. You must email me [email protected] a photo first to make sure the steering wheel is acceptable.
POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS. Currently, we are accepting powermaster brake units. We give a $150 Letter-of-Credit for each acceptable core. If you include the turbo pedal add $10. You would receive $160 Letter-of-Credit. To avoid having your core not accepted, you MUST first email me a photo of the core you plan to send in - [email protected] - We will NOT accept any cores that have severe rust issues or have been disassembled. Core must have the
brake switch and brake bowl reservoir. Too many of the cores we have been getting are in such terrible shape they are worthless to us.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $175 Letter-of-Credit for each acceptable core. We need cores now.
If you ship to us, the post office is the cheapest method. Pack the item(s) with a note with your name, address and phone number.

Here are the options and the costs.
Ads can be from any individual or company. It needs to be automotive related, meaning it does not need to be specifically Turbo Regal related. It can be for something for sale or something wanted.
Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.
Our weekly Inner Circle reaches over 3,400 members every Wednesday direct to their inbox. The Inner Circle also appears every Wednesday on our website with the related photos. Your ad would be visible to both groups of readers. So, the exposure to your ad is well over 3,400 potential buyers.

One thing that has been missing all these years for the Turbo Regal owner is a nice stainless black powder-coated license plate frame. We have designed several with a unique tagline referring to some of the most collectible high-performance car models.
We have come up with the various designs shown in Photo 2.
The handsome metal black license plate frame measures 12-1/4″ x 6-1/4″, which is the standard size to hold state license plates. Frames are made from stainless steel, then powder-coated black for lasting quality.
Included with each frame is a packet of new attaching hardware, complete with black caps so the hardware doesn’t show.
Each frame comes with the decal already affixed. Most of the decals are white wording on a black background. Several decals are two colors (white and red) on a black background.
Notice the font style for the tagline “HIGH OUTPUT V6” decal matches the 3.8 sfi turbo hood emblems.
We also offer each decal separately in case you would like to apply it to any signs, a toolbox, etc.

Originally Buick put all the documents in a plain clear plastic bag. Since these turbo cars didn’t come with a holder in the car, we’ve designed one.

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
