GREAT BREAKING NEWS - GNX REPRODUCTION WHEELS AVAILABLE -
Reproduction GNX wheels are now available once again. See our Part #7219 on our website.
This newer version is produced by another company.
Currently we have one skid in route to us. We already have half of this skid pre-sold.
This version has the zero offset, which means it is the correct offset to fit under the stock fenders of any 1984-1987 Turbo Regal. They are clear coated. Our kit comes with everything included. That means 4 wheels, 4 center caps, 4 GNX reproduction decals, 20 of the correct two-piece lug nuts, and 4 chrome valve stems.
The price is $1494.95 per set, which also includes UPS ground shipping to the basic 48 states. Currently, there is only one other company offering these besides our company.
We gave some advice on this project on what offsets to make. We will be adding other offsets later to match the original GNX offset for the fronts and rears. These would be for owners wanting a spare wheel for their real GNX or for owners who have installed the optional fender flares. Those offsets would push the wheels out further, so they look correct on Regals that have the fender flares.
Keep in mind that we also are interested in buying back your original Grand National wheels, if they are nice. You may want to do so to get back some of your costs, rather than have them sit in your garage or basement. Not many owners go back to 15 inch wheels and tires after they have 16 inch on their cars!
Here is the link to these wheels on our website:

BUICK DISPLAY SIGN -
I was at Spring Carlisle last week and, as usual, the pickings were quite slim for any Buick Turbo Regal related items. However, I did purchase this partial original Buick dealer display sign. The seller had another one just like it that featured the Cadillac logo and a third one that featured the Oldsmobile Aurora logo. I was lucky he split up the set. He had no idea how they attached to each other. I did get a small matching color metal pole that is not shown in the below photo. This metal pole is slotted so that the metal mesh would slip into it and it is the same height as the sign in Photo 1.
PHOTO 1 - Shows the metal Buick dealership display sign. It will stand up on its own as the metal mesh portion has curves in it. It is about 16 inches tall by 42 inches long. The metal circle that the tri-shield logo is on measures about 14 inches in diameter. The tri-shield is a decal. The condition of the sign is very close to mint with no obvious scratches or dents. My guess is somehow this sign was connected to other GM models as I have indicated above. However, I only purchased the Buick one. See this issue's Parts listing for price of this Buick display sign.
REPORT FROM SPRING CARLISLE -
As many of our readers know I try and attend almost every Carlisle event. I usually stay in the Lancaster area the night before so I can see my brother and take him to dinner. This time I went on the very first day of Spring Carlisle and weather was like a windy winter day.
Since it was the very first day not many of the cars for sale were yet on the grounds. I did not spot a single Turbo Buick Regal at all. If you were seeking Chevrolet parts you could easily shop price among several vendors for the same reproduction parts.
PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows a well-restored 1956 Ford station wagon, complete with the wood panel sides. The top right photo shows one of the rare Ford Econoline pickups. I believe these were made around 1962-1964 vintage. The truck had the widest whites I ever seen on tires! The lower left photo shows two very early cab-over trucks needing minor restoration. The lower right photo shows a VW bus with the desirable split windshield that was for sale.
PHOTO 3 - The photo on the left shows a very early primitive washing machine with the wringer feature attached to it. It was priced at around $300, if I recall. Makes a nice gift for that college student that could save money. They could put this in their dorm and use it! The photo on the right shows a wide variety of one-of-a-kind tabletop lamps. You can see he used carburetors for many of the designs. The seller said he never makes any two alike. He did have one custom lamp that I did buy.
PHOTO 4 - Shows different angles of the custom turbo lamp I did buy. It was made using a turbocharger that looks to be about the same one used on our Turbo Regals. I guess this proves there's another use for dead turbos. None of his custom lamps come with a lamp shade.
THE NEW CAR SMELL -
As many of you know, the new car smell is part of the buying experience here in America. I know we sold a number of low-mileage Turbo Regals and I always would indicate if the car retained that "new car smell."
Of course, it was better than some sort of odor from sitting or infested with rodent smell.
I read recently in USA Today that Ford is investing in setting up Lincoln dealerships in China. Apparently Chinese buyers do not like that chemical new car smell, so Ford is adding other fragrances to their Lincolns.
I think most of the new car smell can be attributed to the carpets in our cars and the material they used for the seats.
It’s the hot burning oil smell that causes alarm with most turbo owners as they know instantly that oil is dripping somewhere on their headers or crossover pipe!
HERE IS A CLEVER IDEA USING A TURBO BUICK ENGINE -
Subscriber John Mulligan, out of sunny California, sent me the below link from a recent Craigs list ad.
The Buick turbo engine the owner used in his dune buggy appears to be a 1984 or 1985. The price is just $5900. You can’t get a much lighter combination than that!
Years ago John got two of the motorized Barbie cars for our granddaughter after we put out a request that we were looking for them for her. That was probably 10-12 years ago! She turns 16 later this year.

FINDING A GOOD USED CAR -
Since I sold our 2002 Pontiac GT coupe, I have probably looked at a dozen cars to replace it. The saying is quite true - it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. It’s amazing what details photos don’t show in pictures on Craigs list or on dealer photos. Fortunately, I am not in any hurry.
WANTED - A 1966 BONNEVILLE CONVERTIBLE -
In last 04-16-2014 Inner Circle we indicated we were looking for a 1963 Bonneville. That is NOT the correct year. It has to be a 1966 Bonneville convertible model.
We have a local friend who wants a car identical to one he had when he was younger. The car must have a black interior and black convertible top. He is willing to paint the car. He is not looking for a show car, and it doesn't have to be original and correct.
He is looking for one that he can drive and enjoy that will bring back memories for him, not a 95-point show car. He is willing to travel to find one.
Email me if you know of one for sale. He is a serious buyer. My email is - [email protected]
1956 THUNDERBIRD FOR SALE -
A local long-time friend of mine has acquired a very restorable 1956 Thunderbird he wants to sell. I believe it is priced very reasonable for someone to drive and enjoy, and eventually restore to a higher standard. If you do restoration or own a body shop, this car is an excellent candidate. The car is basically a one owner and was always a local car in our area. It has the optional original 312 V8 engine in it, the optional hardtop, and continental tire kit on the back. Receipts that come with the car total over $12,000 and cover the engine, transmission fuel lines, brake lines gas tank, brakes, radiator, new tires and much more. The floors and the trunk are solid. It does need inner and outer rockers and complete exterior and interior restoration. The price is $16,000. My friend may be open to partial trades. We show photos of this car in Photo 4 of our 04-09-2014 Inner Circle. For more information, contact me direct - [email protected]
BREAKING NEWS - REPRODUCTION 1986 & 1987 TURBO REGAL WINDOW STICKERS -
Because of the many requests, we have struck a deal with Triple A Enterprises to offer exclusively for our customer's, reproduction Window Stickers for the 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regals only. They have been doing the Pontiacs and Corvettes for many years.
Since this is a part time job for Triple A Enterprises, they are limited to the number of Window Stickers they can do. The turn around time will be about 2 weeks.
We should have the price structure worked out by the next issue. Again, we will only be able to offer 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regal reproduction Window Stickers.
CLOSE OUT SPECIAL ON 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL - OIL TUBE AND BREATHER ASSEMBLY -
This oil tube and breather assembly was not one of our parts but was a part made by another source and we purchased their remaining Inventory. Be sure to call our office if you want one. To see a photo, go to 03-12-2013 Inner Circle, Photo 1. The tube is straight and measures 4" tall overall and the breather has a chrome cap on the top and measures 3" in diameter, billet construction. The new lower price is $26 each, which includes shipping to any of the basic 48 states.
You must call the office to order this, as it is not on our website - 215-766-1611 x 0. We have about 8 of them left. This is a product we bought from another company.
TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -
If you have a tip or a discovery that you found that works on your Turbo Regal, drop us an email giving us the details so we can pass the info on to our readers. Remember, even with my knowledge, I don’t know it all. Simply email me at - [email protected]
UPDATE CONCERNING SPOOLFOOL FILLER PANELS -
Currently we have a quantity of both the rears and fronts in stock for immediate delivery. If you reside near Pennsylvania, shipping on the rear one-piece Spoolfool filler is not that bad. It would run probably around $55 to $60, depending on your zip code.
The Spoolfool front fillers would be reasonable to ship anywhere in the U.S.A. as they are not oversized. Shipping has already been absorbed in getting them from Mike, the supplier in California, to our Pennsylvania location. Call our office for ordering - 215-766-1611 x 0.
NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -
1984-1987 Regal GNX/TRANS AM STYLE 16” x 8” WHEELS (4) SET
Click on this link below for full details. Remember, of you want to buy a set from this current skid, you need to contact our office - 215-766-1611 x 0. You would not be charged until we ship you the wheels. Another skid will be ordered shortly.
1984-1987 Regal -
GNX / TRANS AM STYLE 16" x 8" WHEELS (4) SET
These GNX - TRANS AM style wheels have the black mesh center and are 16"″ x 8"″ with the proper offset to fit under the wheel wells of the 1984-1987 Regals. These resemble the popular original GNX wheels. This version has the zero offset. Do not confuse this with the version we have sold in the past, known as “Kirban-Style” GNX wheels.
These wheels are manufactured with brand new tooling and are clearcoated. Wheels have the proper offset to fit under the fenders. We sell these as a complete set of 4 wheels, 20 correct lug nuts, 20 lug nut black caps, 4 chrome-plated valve stems, 4 black center caps, and 4 reproduction “GNX” center cap decals.
The original center caps on the original GNX were actually the existing Trans Am caps. GM simply affixed the “GNX” paper decal over the Trans Am medallion. This set includes the reproduction “GNX” Decals (4) Set, Part #7113.
If you own a 1984, 1985, or 1986 Turbo Regal, the GM front springs on these years were a different spring rate. You will need to change the front springs to avoid having the tires rub when you go over bumps. We recommend our front springs, Part #6566. If you plan on carrying heavy items in the trunk or four friends, we recommend you upgrade the rear springs to our variable rate rear springs, Part #1520 on any 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 Regal.
For shocks, the best ones you can buy are the Bilsteins to further improve the ride quality of your Turbo Regal. The overall height is actually slightly less than what is currently on the car. The speedometer is not affected.
Originally the GNX used 245/50s by 16s up front and 255/50s by 16 in the rear. For best results, we recommend going with 245/50s on the fronts and the backs. Depending on the year Turbo Regal and what suspension upgrades you have made, we do not recommend the larger 255/50s for the rear. However, if you want to go with 255/50s in the rear, trial fit these wheels first to be sure you have enough clearance.
The good news is these wheels will look pretty much dead on with the mesh black center that matches the original GNX mesh center. They are 100% brand new and weigh about 18 lbs each. Of all the available optional wheels, these are the most desirable and can really enhance your pride and joy.
Keep in mind, we will take good used original Grand National wheels in partial trade. This can help save you some money, since you also need to buy new tires.
Shipping generally costs about $65-$125, but we are offering a flat rate of $59.95 for shipping to any of the 48 contiguous states. Call for shipping for other states or Canada - 215-766-1611 x 0.
7219 - 1984-1987 Regal -

TOTAL WITH SHIPPING - $1,494.95

1986-1987 Turbo Regal -
AFTERMARKET FUEL PUMP RELAY
This is an aftermarket fuel pump relay, which is unique to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. It does NOT fit 1984-1985 Turbo Regals.
The fuel pump relay is located on the passenger’s side inner fender. It is the first relay towards the front of the car.
The fuel pump relay primes the fuel pump upon start up. If you find your car is hard to start, this may be the problem or may be part of the problem. It’s cheap insurance to have one on hand. Considering the age of these cars, be sure the original relay is in the proper position.
IMPORTANT - This relay is located on the passenger’s side front fender, closest to the front of the car. The relay behind it is for the AC clutch.
It’s a good idea to keep one of these fuel pump relays on hand, since it is unique for your car.

2014 - UPCOMING TURBO REGAL EVENTS FOR 2014 -
RIDE FOR MOLLY - SATURDAY - MAY 10, 2014
The date this year for the "Ride for Molly" event is Saturday, May 10, 2014. According to Ralph Shelley, one of our Turbo Regal customers, he expects that 3 or 4 Turbo Buicks from northern California will participate this year.
This year the ride originates from the site of their first two memorial rides, the very popular Temecula Creek Inn. It will then go along one of Molly's favorite routes to Borrego Springs, with a luncheon planned at the Red Octotillo, located in the lodge built in 1948. This is truly a throwback to the 1950's and an experience you won't want to miss.
As in the past, all monies contributed by the attendees will support a college fund for Molly’s daughter Brooke. If you are not able to attend but wish to contribute, a check made payable to “Molly Memorial Education Fund” can be mailed to: Molly Memorial Education Fund, c/o Alan DeCarr, 6446 Fairwind Circle, Huntington Beach, Ca. 92648.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
ABOUT OUR EMAILS -
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
IN CLOSING -
It would be nice if someday the National daily newspaper, USA Today, would include comics like most of the other daily newspapers!
